The food came out very quickly, but the overall service is somewhat slow, you will need to let them know when you are ready for the check. My family and I decided to have dinner at this place and we made sure to call ahead for a reservation. When we arrived, they had reserved a table for us. The staff seemed a bit understaffed, with only one waitress and what appeared to be the manager/owner handling all the orders and plates. There was also just one person working behind the bar. Due to the limited staff, it took a bit longer than usual to place our orders and receive our food. However, the atmosphere was fantastic and the drinks were served quickly. The highlight of the meal was definitely the phenomenal food. I particularly loved the cheese sauce with pretzel as our appetizer, the delicious salads, and of course, the Frankfurt Schnitzel! The combination of herbs in the dishes was simply delightful. I personally enjoyed a glass of red wine, while my husband tried their in-house Dunkel beer. Surprisingly, even though I'm not a beer drinker, I found it to be smooth and enjoyable. I would definitely consider going back to this place. Visiting wiesbaden on business and my friends brought me here the night before leaving for a good bye dinner. We had a group of 14 and we were served drinks and food in a timely manner. The food was exquisite! We had nothing to complain about except for the bees that loved the sweetness of my peach iced tea and some of the sweeter dishes. We ate outside as it was a beautiful day. The bees were not to pesky but for anyone with an allergy it is a consideration. I will definitely return here for food when I am back in the area. read more

Wow! This place was Amazing... I went there for a goodbye dinner for a friend (55 people all together).. we had a reservation and took the entire upstairs loft. There was only one waitress and at first I worried, but wow she was amazing! She took drink orders as people showed up and took our food order as we all sat down. Their back patio is really beautiful. I've been here a handful of times and some dishes are fine/mediocre, some are great. I tried spargel here for the first time and it was way better than I anticipated. I also tried a friend's cordon bleu with spargel inside of it and that was also great. It was almost 30 min just to get our drinks. The food came out randomly. One person in our party got their food before the drinks arrived and some still hadn't gotten their food when we were finished 90 min later. Just paying was an ordeal. Stand in line for 10-15 min. This was lunch so maybe dinner service is better. I wanted to like the place and come back with friends but after this experience, i won't be back. read more

Fantastic typical German food & brewery experience in Mainz, Germany. I wish I could have come here during the actual Oktoberfest celebrations, but our visit was great nonetheless. Our waitress was awesome, spoke decent English, and ensured we had the English menus. The beer at this place is heavenly. I had two of the big mugs of beer, and the beer is so delicious and such good quality that I didn't even feel like I had that much. Of course, no German dining experience is complete without eating Schnitzel, which is exactly what I did. I went with the Jagerschnitzel option, which is the Schnitzel with a mushroom and mushroom sauce topping. I got french fries on the side. Other members of my party got the chicken, the pork knuckle (AWESOME), and the cordon bleu. All in all, a fabulous time at Brauhaus Castel. Loved the service, loved the food, and loved the decor. My schwienehaxe was awesome and huge! I barely ate a third of it. My wifes rouladen was a bit too salty for her. The food came out very fast and service was good. We've been here a few times. Each time was decent. Large place, easy parking, nice selection of food and beer. Waitstaff is always nice. Everything we have ordered has been decent. We did come for the breakfast buffet on a Sunday. That was the only disappointing thing we have encountered here. There was one poor woman working, running up and down the stairs, cleaning off tables, restocking food as she could, and she was the one who had to ring everyone up on their way out. She was WAY overworked and was not the only employee there. Another male employee just stood around watching her do all of this. We enjoyed having traditional Bavarian German and regional specialties. I like a small menu, and theirs is just right with the selections offered. As a vegetarian I had a few options. I was Leary of the pumpkin soup (but wanted it something awful!!) so I ordered it anyway. But I ended up not eating it due to the WONDERFUL smell and look on my husbands face of how amazing it was. I couldn't keep him from the soup. and if you're a veg head, some things you stay away from with good sense to know it probably is made with animal broth....in this case chicken. The beer is a novelty. It's not the best (although I drank a dunkel and went home with some, too!) The bartender is a dream. He doesn't speak English, but he speaks body language for sure! He was respectful, Polite, and gracious. The server spoke English, but acted rushed and flustered as it was a shift change (we think). Either way, the bartender was great and we ended up buying a 3 liter?! Glass flip top bottle filled with the dunkel to take home for novelty's sake. That beer was fun and hit the spot..... As far as ambiance: TOP NOTCH!!! It could use a dusting, but the decor and arrangement is on point. Best part: you don't have to drive four hours to get to a nice Bayern Restaurant experience....(and speaks English).....(and serves vegetarians without a double-take and he inevitable question of why???). Parking is open. Location is a bit awkward to get to, but decor is great! Really. As soon as you step onto the property you transcend into a "real Germany" experience. read more

It is a very family style Brauhaus with lively conversations and good smells of food all around. We were a group of about 10 so we decided to sit on the outside patio which is nice if they have room for you. The food was spectacular. The beer selection was, as expected, vast and not typical. I had the pork knuckle with spätzle and I was terrific (all be it enormous). The portions are quite large but everyone loved the meal. We had a Christmas Party in December 2015, The service was HORRIBLE!! Food took too long to come out, when it finally arrived, the soups were COLD and some of the main courses were not fully cooked. They had several other parties in the building that day. I do not think they are equipped to handle large crowds. I did not write a review at that time because, I thought I would give them a second chance. I went for lunch on July 22, 2016. They had only two groups having some sort of get together.
