As I was discussing our experience with Cleary with my husband last night, he said, "The level of…read moredeceit is just surreal to me." That about sums it up. Our experience with Cleary has been not only terrible, but probably one of the worst experiences we have ever had with any company, anywhere. We chose Cleary to construct our pole barn because we wanted to support an established, reputable American company. The joke is on us. Our building site has been ready since July 3rd, 172 days ago (at the time of this review.) The building was supposed to be finished in August. Then we were told September. Then it was October. Then it was November. The timeline kept creeping back without explanation. They put our project "on hold" and put other people's timelines ahead of ours, but without telling us - the date in our contract would come and go and we would have to chase them down for answer. Our salesperson manipulated timelines and advanced projects ahead of ours and, of course, lied to us about it. He was ultimately terminated, but absolutely nothing was done to make things right with us or to compensate for several months of delay--despite assurances from our new salesperson, John, that the project would get back on track. We escalated our issue to Brian at corporate, who replied once referring us to Clint (the regional manager) and then stopped responding (see photos). Clint never responded at all. Now the half-finished building sits. We were really excited to be done by the fall so we could store all of our things and get situated before the cold. We were told it would take around 10 days to build. The materials were delivered right before Halloween. Now, it's almost Christmas. 53 days and counting since they dropped everything off, while we pay thousands extra in storage fees. Now it's too cold to pour concrete, meaning several more months of storage fees. They like to blame the weather. They leave for weeks at a time, and take their equipment with them, and tell us we're the only job they're working on. It's all lies. Plenty of dry, sunny days (and dry, cold days, like today) have come and gone with no crew in sight. They are working on other jobs because again, ours is not important enough to finish with any semblance of urgency. Surely a company like Cleary, which literally exists only to build steel buildings, could somehow find a way to build our steel building within fifty-three days. Do not use this company. They are dishonest. They don't communicate. They don't respond to phone calls or text messages. They don't honor meetings or commitments and have stood us up many times. Or they just show up, like they did with our material delivery one Monday morning as we were trying to get our kids to school. They have absolutely no regard or respect for people's time. Every aspect of our experience with this company has been negative. Choose Morton. Choose the Amish. Choose literally any other company but this one. They do not care about their customer.

Double check everything you are told that it is in contract. Handles to doors mounted so you had to use your fingertips to open. Handles on dutch doors dent barn ridge. Adam explained that french doors are expensive and heavy, so he would need two guys to do the install. He quoted a week out. It took two weeks for the doors to arrive. I'm sure this was out of his control. Another week for him to come and install them. He said he was working on other jobs and then hurt his knee. Understandable. When he came to install the doors he showed up alone. He said his guys were tied up on another job so he might not finish that day. I thought I was paying for two guys? Anyways, he did get the doors installed that day by himself. He was very nice. I work at home, so I had to be there all day. He did a good job installing them. At the end of the day he explained to me that the door manufacturer had done a terrible job priming the doors, so I would have to sand them before I did a final paint job. Wait, I have to paint the doors for you? I thought I was paying for a complete job... I spent the entire next day getting paint matched and meticulously painting the doors, casing, trim, and surrounding drywall myself. Lucky I know how to do that I guess. Like I said it was a mixed experience. Adam was pleasant to communicate with. He was pretty good at communicating the day before and the day of by text and email. The price he quoted me was the price I was billed. So there were a couple of positives. I just don't plan on getting any more work done by this company.
