This review is about a couple from Houston who saved up for years to build a dream weekend house in Wimberley, TX, one of the most idyllic towns in our state. They were looking for a place to relax, recharge and get away from their stressful and busy jobs in Houston. We were very careful in selecting our builder. We wanted someone with a great local reputation. Someone whom we could trust since our ability to oversee the project was limited to a few weekends a month. We chose Bill Dunn because he had this reputation back in 2005 when we were finally ready to start the process. Flash forward a mere 8 years during which time very early on we noticed water coming in through our back doors occasionally after a hard rain. We notified Bill about this right away but the only response was to send someone out to caulk the area. The rain kept coming in. We figured this was about the best we would get from him. After about two years we discovered some wood rot around the outside of the house. After putting it off for many years for fear of what he would find, My husband investigated the rotting wood and uncovered a nightmare. The area surrounding the doors was completely rotted out. Again we called and emailed Bill multiple times with no response except at one point he had his front desk person email me the names of some local carpenters. No offer to pay. No acknowledgment that this was something he would be responsible for. We understood the dreaded project had to be done and we were not going to get Bill or his subs to own up to the poor workmanship. My husband Bruce went to work. This was no easy afternoon project. It took several weekends and over 500.00 to complete the repairs. Not really what he had in mind for how to spend his weekends up here. He is not a carpenter but we estimated it would cost well over 1000.00 to pay someone to fix this just for the labor only. We understand wear and tear on an 8 year old house but this was no wear and tear, this was half-assed workmanship. You see, the carpenters who installed these doors never put any flashing around them so there was no where to divert rainwater and subsequently it just flowed downward rotting out the threshold and the door frames. All of this could have been prevented for less than 5.00 worth of flashing and someone ensuring that the work was done properly. Isn't that what builders do? In all fairness, overall we had a very positive experience with Bill. We have a beautiful house that we are extremely proud of, but it is very disappointing that when we had a problem there was no acknowledgment or responsibility taken. I sent an email to Bill yesterday with some pictures and received a phone call late yesterday. I asked why he was just now calling after my multiple attempts to reach him several months ago. He really had no excuse except that he had been busy???. By this time Bruce was knee deep into this project and had the doors and window out. It was really too late. We could not put the project off any longer. The house was open like a barn and we had to finish. I told Bill in my email yesterday I planned to submit this on Yelp and would advise friends who planned to build up here of what had happened. It appears that is what generated his acknowledgment email. Too bad he didn't respond months ago when something could have been done. I don't take writing this review lightly. As I said, overall our house is beautiful and we have many happy memories here. It's a shame that something like this which could have been prevented so easily had to happen.

We were let down time after time with everything from delays to unprofessional conduct. Somehow we linked up with Cesar months after we felt defeated. My husband had put out inquiries for contractors and someone called us back and gave us the contact for 2J&C. It was a blessing. Our experience with Cesar has been phenomenal, I would recommend him to my parents, children and close friend without hesitation. We love our Shouse (Shop-house). There are a few things that come to mind when you look for someone to build something you've only dreamed of. Money doesn't grow on trees and time isn't infinite. We trusted Cesar based off of our first interaction. Humble yet confident & knowledgeable but not cocky. From the start, Cesar presented strong moral character that stems from strong family roots and never once made us feel like a number or a business transaction. These companies are hard to come by, I'd argue that 2J&C is the BEST out there. I would recommend him time and time again. Cesar is capable of handling everything. No additional hands in the pot with communication issues.... A contractor, a general manager, multiple sub contractor... he did it all. And did it flawlessly. He has high expectations of them, and they know that. He isn't afraid to use new people if the customers aren't satisfied. It is 100% apparent that they enjoy working for him because he takes care of them. They respect him and take pride in their work. Cesar has ALWAYS been respectful and is open to share his recommendations based on experience to make sure that we are happy with the end result. QUALITY OF WORK: Every step of this build has been well thought out and methodical. Cesar doesn't take the easy route, he bases his work ethic off quality, not quantity. He personally inspects the site from cradle to grave to ensure it meets his expectations. It's not rare to see him helping put up rails, work heavy equipment, pick up dump trucks, assist with appliance/electrical work... He keeps his job sites CLEAN and TIDY and always free of trash. Yes, even with framing and drywall, the site was kept impeccable. COMMUNICATION: Cesar made sure that we knew that he was always available day or night. Weekends and holidays, if we had a question or concern. He has been extremely prompt in responses since day 1. He communicated each phase and often called to just check in. AVAILABILITY: The team was able to start immediately. Believe it or not, but he has guys working every day of the week. Some holidays too. You know that they are compensated and don't feel burned out by being there at off times. That says a lot. An employee's behavior when the boss is reflective of how they truly feel about work. Everyone we met from his crew has been friendly and respectful. TIMELINESS: We started discussing our project with Cesar 1 year ago. He linked us up with an architect, and we went back and forth for a couple months before we had our final plans. The construction crew didn't waste any time while we were at the drawing board, Cesar's crew cleared the area and built the base. Efficiency!!!! Once we had our plans, he immediately scheduled a foundation pour date and in less than a month, our 6+inch foundation was poured. Then came the sequence of events that led to our Black Beauty. In approximately 10 months, EVERYTHING to include the detailed finish outs to make it turn key was done!!! Cesar took care of everything from plumbing to electric, well house and septic. He even provided brush clean up for fire suppression surrounding the building. COST: You get what you pay for. It wasn't cheap, but this Shouse (Shop-house) will last generations to come. Cesar's work is of the highest quality. Everything we invested was reasonably priced out. He gave us justification for higher than "normal" pricing and he always presented us with ways to save here and there. He never pressured us towards unnecessary expenses.

They never finished and the work they did was sub-par (to say the least). A roof that never leaked was removed in the process and it has leaked ever since (damaging interior sheetrock and growing mold, of course). I can't even fix the damage until someone figures out the roof issue. Naturally, they stopped trying and so I stopped paying. This ordeal has cost me unplanned interest expense and repairs and led to an inability to lease space (hard to do if you can't tell people when the space will be ready). A terrible experience overall. Always nice too when a contractor tries to blame the customer for problems...it wasn't me that didn't show up for weeks at a time and I sure didn't make the roof leak!

These guys are the worse builders. They are not upfront with you and try to cover up issues…read morewithout fixing them. Their electrician was not licensed in the state of Texas and he did the electrical all wrong, we had to get a master electrician to redo the entire house. The wall are not straight nor square. They did not follow the plans from the foundation up. Even the plumbing was wrong. They also did not pay their vendors/sub-contractors, so be careful as you are responsible for that and they could put a lien on your property. Just a word to the wise, do not use these guys if you want quality work. If I could give them a negative star I would.
