So we decided to try them for boarding as well- they were so helpful and welcoming at check-in, they took time to answer all my questions and never made me feel like any were silly (He's our baby after all!). After talking to the staff for a bit I felt confident that they truly cared about the animals staying there and he wasn't just a number. They even have cameras we could tune in to and see what the dogs were up to. Ollie was bathed and groomed at the end of his stay, and they called to let me know as soon as he was ready. The receptionist told us to arrive at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, even though the facility does not open until 8:00 a.m. There also seemed to be confusion about the fact that my boyfriend and I use two separate veterinarians for our two dogs. We were then told that paperwork had been sent to us via text for us to sign, but I never received it. When we arrived, the technician who finally answered the door said he would get everything figured out and that we could sign the paperwork when we picked up the dogs after their visit. Unfortunately, what followed was a great deal of confusion and chaos surrounding the paperwork, ultimately resulting in us having to pick up our dogs before the scheduled visit was over. While it was frustrating, I am actually thankful this happened before we left our dogs there for an eight-day boarding stay. If things were this disorganized before boarding even began, I would not feel comfortable trusting them with our dogs for an extended stay. Communication and organization are extremely important when you're entrusting someone with your pets, and unfortunately, this experience did not give us confidence in either.

Every single time I tried to schedule a groom or boarding, there were issues. What should have been a simple process turned into a drawn-out, frustrating experience with poor communication and no clear answers. To make things worse, after multiple attempts to get something scheduled, they claimed they "didn't like my tone" and refused to allow me to make a reservation at all. I've never experienced anything like that. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or help a customer, they chose to shut the door completely. Customer service is where they completely fall apart. Responses are slow, often rude or dismissive, and there's zero sense of urgency or accountability. It genuinely feels like they don't value their customers. At this point, it's hard to tell if they even care about having customers at all, let alone new ones. Do yourself a favor and avoid 2nd Family Dog at all costs. There are plenty of other businesses out there that will treat you with respect and actually make the process easy.

In fact, she can keep any employee due to compensation where she changes the rate of pay after the job is complete and also doesn't pay regularly. I haven't been paid past May 15th, 2023 (today is my last day). But I have kept working nonstop. Also, there is no mileage or extra compensation for traveling from home to home. She leaves clients' keys under mats because of being so short staffed and no longer living locally. She may take care of pets, but her priority is not long in Frisco/Prosper areas as she can't keep an employee and doesn't want to commute.
