The team at Tailwaggers Country Inn went completely above and beyond to make sure he was happy and well cared for. It honestly felt like he had the most fun of his life while he was there. When my travel got delayed coming home, they were incredibly kind and even drove him back to my house and let him inside so he could be there waiting for me after my long trip. HORRIBLE! Do not trust Tailwaggers Country Inn to care for your pets! I boarded my cat from 9/26/25 to 10/4/25 and they nearly killed her due to neglect. My cat had to be immediately hospitalized after picking her up on 10/4/25 until 10/10/25 due to severe dehydration, loss of over 20% of her body weight and kidney failure (no history of kidney issues). The owner and staff are highly unprofessional and did not pay for any of my cat's medical bills, even though the manager said they would. The manager stated my cat was "locked up" the entire stay and said she was sorry. Tailwaggers falsely advertised that they have highly trained staffed, a "dietician" on staff and that a topical medication to my cat's ear would be applied. My cat suffered horribly. Worst place for taking car of your pet. I dropped off my baby at 4pm & she was left without food/water until 8:30 the next morning. They knew she was free feed but they didn't give her food since I dropped her off after 3. Left the doggy door open all night then when I called to ask, they denied it & closed the door on her during the day. They also had their leash so tight on her to go out that she had 2 sores. My dogs stayed in the VIP suite with veranda for a week and for the most part I would say it went very well. We just had a few minor issues such as asking for the light to be off at night because they just dim it and it took a couple nights before they started doing it. Which wasn't the problem, the only problem was every time we called for anything such as the boarding info, light request and transportation it went straight to voicemail and then when we left a voicemail we wouldn't hear back for a while or had to call back multiple times to get a hold of them. My only other issue was that the website is misleading on what the rooms look like such as those lodge cabin beds which in reality they just put cots in the room. The rooms are very nice and big I just wish there was more transparency. They kept the rooms very clean as well! I didn't get any photos but I received a report card at the end of their visit that said they did extremely well! Lastly, my two dogs who didn't get groomed came back with a bunch of stickers all over them so I would recommend setting up a grooming appointment if your dog has long fur. My one dog who did get groomed came back with no stickers but she did get charged a "de matting" fee and still had a few mats but her groom looked great! Overall, I would definitely recommend tailwaggers inn and will definitely be bringing my dogs back as they seemed to have a great time! read more

Our liter mate Goldens feel so at home at Tailwaggers and come back relaxed and at ease! After searching many boarding facilities in the area, we landed on Tailwaggers and are so glad we did! We have been extremely pleased with the overall experience, professionalism of the staff, cleanliness of the facility, boarding areas and the amount of room our pups have to play. The added bonus is that we get to see our puppies when we're away through their cameras and having that peace of mind is everything! FALSE ADVERTISING - READ BEFORE BOARDING YOUR DOGS AT TAILWAGGERS. For those interested, also read Pam's 1 star review where you'll notice a pattern at Tailwaggers. Picked up my Australian Sheppard today after a 9 day board. I checked in at the front of their picturesque dog farmhouse where an attendant was told to get my dog in cell A4. I thought it was weird when the attendant left the facility I was in, two dogs in tow, and drove out of the facility and down the country road. When I inquired why this was the case with the staff (which by the way not friendly that could be an entirely separate review), they let me know my dog was boarded down the street because that is where dogs go when Tailwaggers is "over capacity." I found it interesting because no one mentioned "over capacity" at the time I booked my Suite with a Veranda. I waited 20 minutes for the attendant to return but when he arrived, I was surprised he didn't have my dog. The staff told me he forgot the dog and was sent back to retrieve him. When he finally returned with my dog, I asked to see the other location and specifically where my dog was boarded. He agreed and told me to follow. What he took me to is not is advertised on their website nor what is featured in Suzen's promise of a great pet resort vacation, so I wanted to include pictures which are attached. I have many problems with what I saw. The kennel isn't airconditioned and hot as hell only to be made hotter with the dogs being on top of one another as it was packed in the tight quarters and the size of dog did not matter. There were extremely large dogs jammed into these tight spaces. I was told NOT to send any bedding or toys with my dog because they would provide bedding and toys in the "suite." As you can see there is no bedding or leftover toys in suite (cell) A4. The pictures I took of the other "suites" with the dogs stuffed into them looked the same. Needless to say, I was fuming and quickly cruised back to the main location and demanded 100% refund to which they quickly agreed. This is the only positive thing about the whole situation. What I would say to those reading this, go back and read the website while taking a good look at the pictures and read the Tailwagger promise. Then, take a look at the pictures I posted and ask yourself if you trust this company enough to take care of your loved one. read more

Love Tailwaggers we've been with them for 20 years with several of our fur babies. Our first would run jump in the van when they came to pick up. Our second that adopted us in March after someone dumped him on our farm is also loving it there. We boarded our healthy, 8 year old pet dog at Tailwaggers Country Inn for several nights before Thanksgiving. We had taken her to Tailwaggers several times in past years and we had no problems with her past stays. When we picked her up this time, however, her behavior was immediately different and she lacked energy. The staff did not mention anything out of the ordinary. When she arrived home, she would not eat, could no longer jump up onto the bed, had fever, and began coughing the following day. Apart from her stay at Tailwaggers, she had not been exposed to any animals for several weeks prior. When we called Tailwaggers to report this change in her health and behavior, we were then informed that other pet owners had called in reporting "kennel cough" in animals that had recently stayed at Tailwaggers. We only learned about this exposure when we called to report our pet's illness, and prior to that, we were not notified at any point about her changed behavior or about this known exposure. Our pet's symptoms continued to worsen, so the next day we took her to an emergency veterinarian who prescribed an antibiotic and expectorant. Through the weekend she still would not eat and was feverish, so Monday she was taken to our regular vet who prescribed three vials of appetite stimulant. After two doses she began to eat again. We do not know if or for how many days she may have refused to eat while she was boarded. Although we notified Tailwaggers about the illness she caught while boarded, Tailwaggers never called to check on her afterwards, and never followed up with us in any way after her stay. Seven years ago an animal behaviorist had recommended Tailwaggers to us, so although we do not live nearby, for over a dozen visits we had driven for nearly an hour each way to make certain our pet would be happy and safe. Previously, we had received reports about our pet during her stays, with information about her condition and behavior. This communication did not occur this recent Thanksgiving, and we do not know in what facilities or in what conditions she was kept while boarded this time. It was terrifying to see the empty look in her eyes when she couldn't eat and was in pain. This pet is a loved member of our family. After this illness she caught at Tailwaggers requiring two vet visits and multiple medications, and the lack of communication we feel we should have expected from Tailwaggers about the exposure and her condition, we no longer feel safe taking our pet there in the future. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. Lola and Ramona are my first set of dogs. My husband and I do not have family near us, so finding a place that love ours girls like we do is such a blessing. Everyone I've spoken to is kind and are always answering my questions. If I leave a message, it gets returned right away. my girls love going there and lose their minds when they see us approaching the building. I've loved Tailwaggers for boarding and used them for almost 25 years. Ben is my 3rd dog here, and they've come back happy and exercised. I need my dogs to be able to run and play during the day, not be boarded in a kennel and walked 3x/day. I would have given 5 stars except for the fact that I think they're so busy, they usually don't answer the phone, but I do leave a message and they do call back. Just to expedite, I loved when I could get my reservation made or question answered when I called. The pickup drivers, especially Dennis, loves his job and the dogs. First time to give this place a try for our 3 dogs. It was a long drive and were impressed with their facilities and felt comfortable leaving them. We even upgraded to a larger suite. After a 9 day stay and over a $1,100 bill we picked up our dogs and instantly could tell they all 3 had kennel cough. Took them to the vet the following day for another $450 and some antibiotics. All 3 dogs lost 10% of their body weight. Now I get it, things happen. But no one said a word to us about it. I figured we were paying for a more upscale facility where more attention was given but unfortunately I think it's just an appearance. Our dogs were clearly sick and not eating.! Won't be back! UPDATE: Just spoke to the owner who went out of her way to check on our dogs and she was genuinely concerned and took actions to make sure other dogs didn't get sick. She is very knowledgeable and I feel truly loves her business. We will give her another try. read more

I truly am never one to post reviews, but since I relied on the reviews and was mistaken I feel others must know. To preface this, I was using the webcams that you have access to if you board your dog in one of their nicer rooms at Tailwaggers and was able to watch all of this unfold. I was checking out the webcams after I downloaded the app, right after my husband dropped our dog off for the weekend since we were going out of town and noticed our dog, Luna, had only played outside for about 10 minutes before being abruptly put into her room. We dropped her off early so she could play for a few hours and be tired before having to stay in a room by herself. I was told she would get to play with Tammy's golden retriever (the manager's dog) and have playtime outside for several hours prior to being locked up. I was excited for her to be worn out and then sleep through the night. However, instead of the staff doing what I was promised, as soon as my husband left the property, Tammy and her staff chose to lock Luna up. She had been there for approximately 10 minutes and as soon as my husband was out of eyesight she was thrown into a room. Further, after Luna was put into her room at 3:30 pm, she was never fed and never let out again. Her door to the veranda was shut around 5pm and no one ever came back to let her out, feed her, or check on her. I confirmed this by going back to the cameras to make sure I wasn't mistaken. I was told they don't let dogs out after dark so as soon as it got dark and no one came to get her, I knew it wasn't going to happen. I also tried calling and emailing them to avoid having to go pick her up and change my plans for that weekend, but no one answered my calls or emails. She would have gone over 16 hours without going to the bathroom or being fed that night. That's if she would have even been let out at 7 am the next morning, which I am not sure would have even happened. I do know she was never fed because all of her food I provided was given back to me when we went to pick her up that evening, after I couldn't bare the thought of her going 16 hours without going to the bathroom, being fed any food, and not being given any human interaction. Especially after what I was paying for her to be there and the reassurance I had received. I really am just extremely disappointed in their staff and facility because I truly was excited for her to have this experience and have a fun time. They were nice and welcoming so I trusted them, but that trust has been lost. read more

I have been taking my Black Labrador to Tailwaggers in Van Alstyne since he was 11 months old, he is 4 years now. I would not trust anyone else with him. We reserve a "hotel suite" with a veranda ( patio) that looks overlooks the in ground pool. He has a TV with Animal planet 24/7 and I can see him on his camera -he actually watches it! The best part is he gets to run in the large fenced in area and jump in the pool. He comes home and sleeps for 2 days! The staff is amazing, all extreme dog lovers and so accommodating to me as I am a Nervous Nellie when it comes to him! They are like family to me and my dog only better-haha! I wanted to get something off my chest, so please bear with me. My husband and I went to Chicago on Monday for an overnight trip because I won a night in a suite for a Cubs game. We boarded our two big dogs, pictured below, at Tailwaggers in Van Alstyne. Tuesday morning we got a call from the manager of the place that our beautiful, beloved Great Dane passed away overnight. He was 6 years old and in perfect health, so we were shocked. We then went through the issue of standing by for flights to get home quickly. Our vet confirmed that he died of natural causes, it was not Tailwaggers fault however, there are three things that really bothered us: 1. They said they hoped we had been watching the web-cams. This is the third time our dogs have been there (more for grooming) and we never knew about the web cams. We would have been using them. 2. The General Manager told us she asked the owners if they wanted to make the phone call to us, but they told her to do it. 3. They charged us FULL PRICE without even offering a discount. Our dog died in their care. If I owned the place any phone calls of that type would be made by ME. Not only would the bill be free, I would be offering free future services. That's the difference between "running a business" and "loving your customers". They have a beautiful place for pets there, but I assure you we won't be going back. I am really disappointed with them, on top of being CRUSHED by the loss of our dog. I wanted our community to know so that you can make informed decisions for yourselves. read more

I have been taking my 3 dogs Alfredo, Punky and Lola here for years. I love that everyone is like a family here. They treat my fur babies as if they were their own dogs and give them soooo much play time. Since I live in Lakewood, I always use the pick up van so I don't have to make the drive. (so if you live in Dallas, no worries, they have a Mercedes pick up van haha fancy fancy). My dogs literally get sooooo excited they start crying when they see the pick up van because they know they're going to Tailwaggers to play. It's gotten to the point to where now when they see any white van, they start getting excite. I love how much play time they get because when I get back in town and I'm too exhausted to play fetch with them, they're just as exhausted and literally sleep for a few days. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Tailwaggers. I love my pup -- a stray with an interesting attitude. She doesn't bark ... but growls constantly. Growls eating. Growls playing. Growls wagging her tail. She's interesting -- my special girl -- and I really struggled finding a place that would look over her harmless growls and see the love I see. Kennels put her in a cage. Family & friends reluctantly helped out in a bind but I felt guilty the entire time I was away. Then I found Tailwaggers. My dog has been staying with them multiple times over the last few months and I think she is finally getting the hang of it :) I am beyond impressed with the facilities and staff. The facilities are very "home-like" -- couches, tvs, glass doors. My boyfriend came with me to pick up my dog yesterday and he said "it's like going to a house with someone that has a few too many dogs". Exactly. These are dog people!!! But beyond the facilities is the outstanding staff. They could tell I was very nervous during my first drop-off -- and they were incredibly proactive to call me and let me know how my dog was doing. She didn't get along with other dogs and was very lonely. What makes these folks special is they are not charge-by-the-minute play-time people. They do what's best for the dog. Now when I take my dog she's not thrilled -- but when she sees the staff she runs up with her tail wagging (and no growling). You can't fake that kind of connection with my dog. It's worth every penny. You can leave your dog there knowing they are in tremendous hands and are taken care of as close as possible to being at home. Nervous about the distance? Take them up on pick-up and drop off services for $25 each way. They are handled with great care and are always on time. First class!!! read more

I've never boarded our pups before, and after checking out couple other places we chose Tailwaggers. Their pricing was on point and their facility seemed much nicer than others. It's a bit of a drive but SO WORTH IT! Our dogs have stayed here twice now for 3-5 days and each time we've picked them up they seemed so happy (but not TOO happy to see us - which is a good sign they weren't deprived of attention). So lucky we found Tailwaggers a few years ago. Our two labs Indiana and Blondie always come home smelling good, wagging their tails and smiling. If you live in North Dallas and have kids going to the University of Arkansas, Tailwaggers is on the way. The staff really seems to care. Before we found Tailwaggers, our labs would come home from one of the well known Plano area kennels smelling bad and would refuse to eat for a few days. Now, they are happy pups! The pickup/dropoff service is fantastic. It's a really nice shuttle and we were happy to have our dogs back in the evening we returned from our trip. We visited the facility when we dropped our dogs off and it is nice. It doesn't smell bad (like many kennels) and the front lobby is quite nicely decorated. It actually looks like a hotel out front. Our only issue is that one of our dogs (who is just a pup and very sweet and playful) returned with a big chunk bitten out of his ear. I understand that things happen when dogs play together at playtime, but it must've been quite a fight and a lot of bleeding. I would've liked to have been notified that this had happened (and I'm actually more concerned if nobody noticed that it happened in the week they were staying). My only suggestion to the place is to give a more fun report card of the dogs' activities. We usually board at Woodland Park and they give a detailed handwritten report of what the dogs were up to, who they played with, etc. We look forward to this every time we board with them. We were bummed to just get a form with a few things circled on it about their stay--it didn't seem personally tailored to our dogs at all (and at $75/day for 2 dogs, we would expect a little more personalized attention). We did appreciate the cute bag of treats sent home with the dogs. Overall, beautiful facility, wonderful transportation option. We would use them again and hope that the ear bite was just a fluke. read more

i made a reservation for my 13 week old golden retriever a month in advance of my flight. i explained that she did not have her rabies as she was too young to receive it. i was put on hold and the rep came back and said that wasn't going to be a problem that she would just need to be current on the other vaccines and have her bordatella. i brought in the shot records two days later (in person) and double checked that her not having her rabies would be ok. i was again told that wasn't going to be a problem since she wasn't old enough to have it. then two days before my trip the reservation was confirmed by tailwaggers. the day of my trip i came in to drop off the puppy and was told it was against the law to have her. i asked to see the law and then the story changed to that it was just policy. when i asked to speak with the owner i was told she was a silent owner and i couldn't. it is incredibly bad business and inexcusable to have this happen. they had multiple opportunities to tell me that this was not allowed. i made the reservation a month before my trip and would have made other arrangements if i had been told this from the beginning. multiple times they told me (by multiple people) that this wasn't an issue. the day of my trip i was turned away. years i have been their customer and this is an atrocity. do not take your animals here. read more

Absolutely outstanding!! Will not go anywhere else. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful and the staff is completely amazing! We always go here when our fur baby needs grooming or when we need to board her. We now live in Fort worth and still take her to tailwaggers!! The facility is large and clean and seeing the many happy looking dogs out in the open exercise areas does give me confidence that my little dogs are being treated well. I took my dog for an overnight to have a bath and nails groomed. I watched her on the webcam and she never left the cement floor in a corner. No one played, pet or interacted with her. My husband and I were so upset, we picked her up right when they opened the next morning. She stayed in an 80$ suite which we paid full price for. When you read about this place, it tells all the activities and fun your dog will have. Our dog is full of energy and loves people and loves to play. She might as well have been in "dog jail" instead of a dog suite with playful activity. It was so sad to watch her sitting on the cold floor in a corner with her head down for hours. We boarded two of our four dogs and they appeared to have a blast. Came home smelling good. Our plans changed and the management was very accommodating. They kindly let us end our stay early without penalty or brow beating. I recommend for grooming and boarding. Update: Tailwaggers to the rescue- three of my dogs got into some powdered stains for ceramics. I needed them bathed immediately. Tailwaggers bumped the schedule and took my (bad) boys immediately. ONLY PLACE ILL USE FROM NOW ON !!!!! I recently adopted a dog 3 months ago and I've never boarded her with anyone but my family. I was hesitant to leave her somewhere new since she has been through enough change and her history of mistreatment but I'm so happy that I did take the chance. They came to pick her up in the doggy van and the driver was very patient and sweet and gave her a treat to get in the crate. I was actually anticipating for it not to go so smoothly but I was more than thrilled with the entire service including drop off with her having a bath. She had a blast and you can even request to be sent pictures of them having fun. They also gave her a little report card which I thought was a special added touch also sent her home with a little baggy of treats.
