I used Holliday for a Driveway and most recently a concrete patio. I can say after my experiences…read morethat I do not recommend these guys at all. I did not love the job they did with the driveway because of how sloppy they were with damage to my property and lawn (they cleaned their tools on my lawn in front of my porch and left a nice layer of concrete residue on my lawn, did not fill in their gaps next to driveway w dirt etc) but because they are a locally owned family business I decided to use them again for my patio. We had to get multiple quotes from Holliday for the patio as we were contemplating a tint and edging pattern- we did not want our patio to look like our driveway and we were clear with them in texts calls emails and face to face. We got a lot of attitude for them having to come out multiple times to quote and discuss. We didn't feel bad because of the size of the job and wanting to get it right. From the initial bid we had them add tint and basic edge pattern and they upped the original bid by $1750 (20%) above original bid to reflect these changes. Fine and Fair. Lo and behold after multiple weather delays they finally got to our job and had forgotten all about it and we didn't know until the concrete had been poured and was just about set so there was nothing that could be done. When we raised the issue for getting uncharged by 20% for add ons that we didn't receive they tried and first tell us they never had that in scope (when I had a marked estimate that had this) and then they tried to explain it by saying that pouring an additional 36 sq ft of concrete (876 vs 840 sq ft) was the reason why they adjusted my quote and raised the cost by 20% which makes no sense whatsoever. The extra should have been an extra few hundred max not $1750. They did a Bait and switch on us and we are livid. These guys are not quality people and are sloppy on their jobs so beware of doing business with them.

The Holliday Concrete I am reviewing is in Oak Grove Mo but has the same phone number so they are…read morethe same Company. Here is what happened: This Company removed and poured a new driveway in November 2018. They talked a good game but recently we have had a wing corner crumble, and within the last 2 weeks THREE sections of our new driveway have cracked with smaller cracks branching off resulting in chips. Our previous 50 yr old driveway didn't have that many cracks! Now we have paid thousands for a lousy "new" driveway that is not even 2 yrs old! When the 1st crack appeared the owner Rick Holliday came out last week and simply stated it is "unfortunate" and "rare" that cracking happens in the middle of the sections instead of the joints. Now that same "rarity" has resulted in 2 more cracks in two different sections and his response is the same. He did send someone to repair the crumbling corner but will do nothing about all of the cracks unless they spread to 1/4". Obviously there is something wrong with their workmanship yet they will take no responsibility. We could have saved thousands by just repairing the 2 cracks on our 50 year old driveway. A Companies reputation is proven to be good or bad by how they handle issues with their products. These people are crooks!

Pete is absolutely reliable--if he says he'll be there, he'll be there. He goes out of his way to take care of the details (e.g., coloring the mortar so that it'll dry to match the original now darkened material). If you need masonry repair, track down Pete--you'll be glad you did!

We came into contact with them when we needed someone to do extensive tuckpointing and repair work on two old stone walls leading into a basement garage on our 70-year-old house, but we were having trouble finding a company that was interested in just repair and tuckpointing. We eventually called a high-end concrete and masonry contractor that specializes in large and elaborate masonry projects and asked them for a recommendation and they provided Masonry Craftsman's contact info. I called Pete, Masonry Craftsman's owner, and he offered to stop by and take a look as soon as we could be available. When Pete first came to the door, I mentioned in passing that we had at one time wanted to replace the front brick entrance stairs that he was standing on but had found it would be prohibitively expensive. The stairs had been a bad DIY project by a previous owner that resulted in two super-steep steps that were a chore for most people to climb. I told him that we had spoken with several contractors in the past and they all said we needed to tear them completely out and replace them with poured concrete for a huge amount of money which we couldn't justify spending on the house. Pete took a look and quickly proposed a plan to insert two additional brick steps into the stairway, and also mentioned that he could tint the mortar and use some extra brick we had of the same type so it would all look original to the house. He quoted us a price that we felt was reasonable for the work involved in order to repair both the walls and to redesign the front steps . Long story short, Pete and his assistant Dave were able to start immediately and finished the job a day faster than promised, and it all looks terrific. The stairs were particularly great considering that we thought we would never be able to afford to do anything to fix them. The idea Pete came up with is not only very functional and allows people to enter and exit the house without climbing gear, but it really matches the character of the house. Our walls also look very nice as well and Pete and Dave cleaned everything up thoroughly before they left. We usually cringe at the thought of having anyone work on our house because it often results in disappointment, but this is one of the few times that we have had our expectations exceeded, and both Pete and Dave were very pleasant to work with (they even fixed a small cracked area in our neighbor's sidewalk for free with some leftover mortar). We will definitely call them again for any masonry-related jobs.
