The restaurant is walk-ins only, no reservations, where they open at 4:30pm. I stopped by Dotty's on a Wed evening right after they opened around 4:30pm for a snack as I had an event to go to around the area. Upon entering, I sat at the bar and was given menus. Service was friendly and I was given time to study the menu. The vibes of the place are casual and it's a space where you can come time and time again to try different things. Since I wanted something on the lighter side, these are the following items I ordered: - Small size caesar salad - $13 - Hamachi crudo (menu stated tuna but staff mentioned it would be hamachi today) - $25 - DGB (Dotty's Ginger Beer - pineapple, lemon, ginger, maple, soda) - $9 The DGB tasted great! This non-alcoholic option was made by the bartender and had a strong kick of ginger which I loved. It was spicy and not too sweet, the perfect drink if you want something zingy and spicy. The caesar salad was classic. The staff offered to give me a smaller portion as the actual size is larger. Romaine lettuce tossed in caesar dressing with crunchy croutons and heaps of parmesan cheese on top with a lemon wedge on the side. It was light and fresh and the dressing wasn't too heavy or overpowering. The crudo tasted great as well! There was some creamy sauce on the bottom which was paired with radish and jalapenos on top, giving the fish crudo crunch as well as some kick to it. Overall, a solid choice in the Junction Triangle for some classic food. Expect to be surprised by the dishes - the dishes on the menu may seem simple, but the flavours and execution of the food is done well. So when an errand brought me to the Junction, I was excited to stop by Doc's. We showed up around prime time but still managed to snag an awesome table on the patio. I can't say no to a martini, so Doc's Dirty Martini ("plymouth gin, guerra dry vermouth, house brine, blue cheese olive") was an obvious first choice. And yeah, it's excellent. Dirty martinis have the tendency to be a little too briny for my taste, but the balance in this one was just about perfect. I'd go so far as to say that this is basically as good as a dirty martini gets. For my second drink, I was extremely intrigued by the Rum Old Fashioned ("el dorado 5, el dorado 12, varnelli fantasia punch, coconut syrup, tiki bitters"), so that's what I got. And oh boy, is it ever a top notch beverage. It does have the flavor profile of a typical old fashioned, but it's been elevated to ridiculous degrees. The rum really makes a difference, and now I can't imagine drinking a traditional old fashioned. (I want to also single out the complimentary bar snacks, which were wasabi peas and some kind of crunchy plantain or banana-type concoction. They were truly excellent.) Yeah, Doc's Green Door Lounge is legit. I'll definitely make it a point to hit the Junction more often just to come back.

When I followed up with our server about a half hour later, she said the kitchen was closed ... um, thanks for letting us know instead of keeping us waiting! We came here specifically to try the Moqueca De Peixe Com Camarão & Arroz E Pirão (grouper fish & shrimps stew with tomatoes, green peppers, onions, cilantro, and coconut milk), and it did not disappoint! The stew was so flavourful and they gave a lot of grouper fish and big shrimps in the pot. I really liked the tomatoes and cilantro in the stew. It came bubbling hot, with Brazilian fish gravy served in a smaller pot beside it. It was served with garlic-infused rice that was just as flavourful. Tip: Order farofa (toasted cassava flour) alongside any stew dish, then mix it with the stew. The textures complement each other very well. The Grilled Salmon was also really good. It was flavourful and I could see and taste the charred grill mark. It came served with rice (also infused with garlic) and choice of side. I chose a side of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrot, green beans) and they were excellent! In addition to the main dishes, we ordered a large House Salad (nice, simple, and refreshing), Brazilian Tomato Slaw (for extra veggies - also refreshing), and Farofa (a must-get every time I go to a Brazilian restaurant). Everything we tried was delicious x100. Food came out in a decent amount of time, and service was nice and friendly. The ambience was very casual with Portuguese music playing in the background. I definitely recommend this place if you want to try authentic Brazilian dishes in a casual setting!
