The menu is simple, with offerings like "steak", "fish & veg" or "cheeseburger". They also have a good drink list - $9 house wines by the glass, cocktails, beers, as well as some non-alcoholic options. Inside they have seating at the bar or in the dining room, as well as a patio during the warmer months. The washroom is downstairs which is not accessible to all. The restaurant is walk-ins only, no reservations, where they open at 4:30pm. I stopped by Dotty's on a Wed evening right after they opened around 4:30pm for a snack as I had an event to go to around the area. Upon entering, I sat at the bar and was given menus. Service was friendly and I was given time to study the menu. The vibes of the place are casual and it's a space where you can come time and time again to try different things. Since I wanted something on the lighter side, these are the following items I ordered: - Small size caesar salad - $13 - Hamachi crudo (menu stated tuna but staff mentioned it would be hamachi today) - $25 - DGB (Dotty's Ginger Beer - pineapple, lemon, ginger, maple, soda) - $9 The DGB tasted great! This non-alcoholic option was made by the bartender and had a strong kick of ginger which I loved. It was spicy and not too sweet, the perfect drink if you want something zingy and spicy. The caesar salad was classic. The staff offered to give me a smaller portion as the actual size is larger. Romaine lettuce tossed in caesar dressing with crunchy croutons and heaps of parmesan cheese on top with a lemon wedge on the side. It was light and fresh and the dressing wasn't too heavy or overpowering. The crudo tasted great as well! There was some creamy sauce on the bottom which was paired with radish and jalapenos on top, giving the fish crudo crunch as well as some kick to it. Overall, a solid choice in the Junction Triangle for some classic food. Expect to be surprised by the dishes - the dishes on the menu may seem simple, but the flavours and execution of the food is done well. Would love to return back to Dotty's in the future to try other items on the menu!

Impeccable. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive without being overbearing. I felt welcomed from the second I walked through the door. I ordered the Avocado Salmon Toast paired with the beautifully pink and perfectly named Pink Flamingo drink. My friend went for the Sweet Berry Waffle and a classic lemonade. Let me just say--the flavors did not disappoint. The salmon was fresh, creamy avocado was piled high, and the toppings were thoughtfully layered. My only tiny critique (and I say this with love): the toast itself was a little too crispy for my liking. It made the dish a bit tricky to cut into, and the texture leaned dry. Next time, I'll definitely ask for it untoasted or lightly toasted. A softer base would really let those flavors shine without the crunch competing. Now let's talk about that Pink Flamingo--WOW. It was tropical, sweet, and honestly gave me vacation-in-a-glass vibes. I almost ordered a second, but adulting (and budgeting) called me back to reality. That said, it's worth every sip! I snuck a few bites from my friend's Sweet Berry waffles, and yep--I'm getting that next time!! Light, fruity, tasty!! I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. Who knows, maybe next time I'll get to sample a few more dishes Seriously though--support local and give this place a try. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Very good first time experience with Costa Rican food…read more We went with the recommendations and the only thing I wish I had tried was the ceviche but that's for next time. Must try is the Costa Rican coffee served in a traditional manner. Next must try is their empanadas! Housemade and the dough is phenomenal. Filling we tried was beef.

We showed up around 7:00 and the place was maybe half full, so we snagged a couple of spots at the bar. After a quick perusal of their promising menu, I was very intrigued by a cocktail that included "raisin-infused scotch" among its ingredients, so obviously I had to get that. (I can't remember what it was called or what any of the other components were, and the website is hopelessly out of date.) It was ready a few minutes later and it's really fantastic. My first thought was that perhaps the raisin flavor was a little too pronounced, but as I kept sipping, I began to taste the other ingredients and they all worked so well together. I enjoyed the heck out of this beverage. And although we had planned to order another drink, the relaxed service meant that by the time we were asked, we were ready to move on. So that part was a little disappointing. Still, Northwood is a super cool little place and the vibe inside is terrific. I'm sure I'll return.

Gord ordered German potato salad but they didn't have any so he ordered salt cod. The hummus was just okay. There was a layer of olive oil on top of the hummus which was kind of weird so I mixed it in so I could get at with the hummus. Gord said his salt cod was okay. We both ordered more bread. When I followed up with our server about a half hour later, she said the kitchen was closed ... um, thanks for letting us know instead of keeping us waiting! So we ended up finishing the hummus and salt cod with spoons. The bathrooms are in the basement and a nasty smell will hit you as you heading down the stairs.
