Food was good, expensive though. Mostly locals .We had a few waiters take care of us, mostly females . One male waiter (I think there were 2 in the restaurant ). He was rude from the beginning. I don't tink it was on purpose , I don't think customer service is his thing. He seemed annoyed at doing his job. I got pushed a few times as he passed behind me. The last push was being elbowed in the head. I did get some kinda apology ...but reluctantly. I told him he should also apologized for the 3 other times he pushed me...he didn't like that and said "but I'm working madame" . So I guess I was in his way (sitting ...and minding my business btw). Came here mainly to grab a coffee. Ended up on the lovely sunny patio with a couple of americanos served with piping hot milk. Decided to check out the menu which was small but covered all of the lunch basics. We split the Provençal quiche. It was probably the best quiche I've ever eaten with tomato and zucchini. We told our server that we were splitting it and they brought it already split on 2 plates with a nice light salad. I thought that was so nice of them considering how busy the place was. Absolutely phenomenal Bakery in the heart of Paris, located on Rue de Madame. Everything we tried was over the top delicious. There isn't much seating, a few populated tables inside and out front, so plan on getting your baked goods to go. I recommend getting Bread & Roses to go. Their breads are delicious, especially the their specialty seed one, I recommend the basil raspberry macaron and their raspberry tart. In my opinion the lemon tart was too sweet. It's also quite large so you can definitely share it. I think the prices are a bit too high, even if the food is fresh and good. The shop is very pleasant but you're very close to other tables. I went several times and wish the waiter had told me what was and wasn't available at that time on the menu. Will go back to buy fresh bread and desserts to go for sure though. read more

This was one of my big food splurges while in Europe, and so, so worth it. Expensive if you're a grad student from the US, maybe not so much if you are Parisian and can already afford to live in that neighborhood? If you are lucky enough to eat at Bread and Roses everyday, then you are one lucky human being. This place is the embodiment of your fanciful French bakery dreams. Best. Chocolate. Tart. Ever. Their sandwiches were also delightful, I think the bread was the best part...Service was excellent, the counter person was very helpful describing the different tarts and dishes. and didn't mind speaking English to us. Adore this place - not exactly typically Parisian and always filled with the expat Brits and Americans who live in the area but still lovely. The old fashioned hot chocolate is divine and perfect with their brioche loaf. Any of the bread is great with any of their delicious home made jam (my favourite being the strawberry but the rhubarb is also extremely good). Also really enjoy their deep tarts and pies for lunch (the leek, asparagus and goats cheese is yum) served with salad and their various desserts and pastries are also very good. It is pricey, always busy (and filled with expats) but such a lovely place and they offer take away which means you can take your box of goodies to the nearby Jardin de Luxembourg to enjoy. read more

I researched best quiche in paris and this place came up. Went there and WTF a take away quiche was 10 euros each. I know paris is expensive, but that is an insane price to charge for something you can't even sit down to eat in store. Luckily for me, when I went they only had ones with goat cheese left so i didn't even want to try one. Instead I took a croissant which was actually REALLY good. very chewy in the middle :) I'm pretty sure this place is known for good bread, but when I got there I didn't get that bakery scent and the bread didn't even really look that good. Basically nothing looked too fresh (but I was there near the end of the day). I definitely will not be returning to buy the quiches. I'll just go to kluger or do more research. read more

Across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens, this high end patisserie is exactly what the doctor ordered after a long day of strolling around Paris. Our experience was very unpleasant. After selecting sandwiches, purchasing two and water, we were told we could not sit down to eat. It was a cloudy cool day, and it was incredibly rude to be turned out on the street after purchasing our lunch. This a sweet little bakery (not Patisserie). Cafe, food, desserts and wine selections by the bottle to go. I did hear a bit of English speaking so the review from Mia is correct. We too grabbed a sandwich and walked one one block to Jardin du Luxembourg. If you want Brie cheese with your banquette there is a small market with some cold items next door. This place we came into to get and iced tea. Our teas came looking lovely with mint and lemons but they were bitter, there were tea leaves and it wast cold. After adding ice and water it was ok. We were not thinking of coming back and then the bill came. Each small iced tea was 10 euros!! That is around 16 us dollars. Ridiculous... You could buy a whole meal.
