Setup an account 8/5, wife listed as coowner. She completes her part via emailed link. We receive letter dated 8/7 demanding her DL, SS card, and a bank statement within 7 days. Documents produced and priority mailed on our dime. Arrives 8/18, she gets a two sentence email saying her account was rejected on 8/19. First call they want to talk to her, but she's not available. Second call I make (with her present) they change their story and I have to talk to their security department which is closed. Third call I give them the whole back story and am hung up on. Fourth call they say we have to start all over again and send her another email. Complete that, still nothing, fifth call and they can't tell me anything, so I just closed the account. (Still waiting on that because the original deposit is still "on hold".) Setting up a joint account is this insane? What a farce. I put the funds into in to a Vanguard Cash Plus account. The APY is slightly less, but setup was faster than a single call to Bread, and I didn't have to deal with an utter clown show in the process. Don't waste your time with this crew. Incompetence to this degree is simply staggering. read more

I had an issues with one of my credit cards and did a consumer report complaint on bread fin. They ended up retaliating against my other credit accounts and closed that card. Siting the can close for any reason. Yep dummies but not for retaliatory reasons. Not sure if it's worth a lawsuit but definitely considering it. read more

Just got my Ceasars visa reward card. had questions for bread but the number just went to India where the people were horrible and didn't help. One of the most unfriendly and difficulty companies I have dealt with. Going to cancel the card since they dont want my business and make it difficult to use. read more

I have an NFL Extra Points credit card through Comenity Bank which is now Bread Financial. As you can see in the screenshot it shows I have an available credit over $2000. However the card has declined all transactions. I called customer service and they told me the available credit is incorrect and that my bank hasn't posted my last payment of $1000. They refused to adjust the available credit and the card was shut off and they told me it will be at least seven days before I can use it again. It's a huge disaster because this card was to be used on a vacation in two days. I'm going to cut the card up and I will close this account. This is not acceptable. read more

After being approved for the PlayStation Visa credit card, they sent me temporary payment information to use in the PlayStation store to go ahead and complete my purchase. The security code included with the card information was 2 digits. When I tried to purchase my PlayStation on the PlayStation store today, my purchase would not go through because a 3 digit security code was required. After a whole morning of 5 or so phone calls, starting with PlayStation support and ending with Comenity (Bread Financial support, a woman cheerfully (albeit unconcerned) told me "Oh. If the temporary card information does not work you will just need to wait until the physical card comes in." She didn't seem like it was any big deal or mess up and said there was nothing to be done on their end, but I should have a wonderful day! For me however, that means I now have to wait 10-14 business days to make a purchase that will ship in 4-5 days. That means the PlayStation that should be here this week will now likely be close to 3 weeks out. I already wish I did not apply for this card with this bank. read more

I have been screwed over twice now by Comenity Bank. DO NOT TRUST THEM when they say they've closed the account or cancelled the card after you've paid it off. Twice now I've paid my balance in full, and then months later was strapped with some random surprise late payment, because it accrued interest. Interest ON WHAT??? I paid it off. I closed the account. I cancelled the card. How can there be interest on nothing!?! I had a near to perfect credit score, and 4 months after paying off & closing everything, my credit is hit by some supposed late payment of interest that accrued on a zero balance closed account? Never trust this company, unless you want to get screwed. read more

if i could give zero stars i would. Bread comenity took over all wayfair accounts,,,, issued mastercards....never received. then i get a bill for $200 for 10 charges from autozone in abu dabi. I called, spoke to customer service - told this was a mistake-never authorized or received card - she said would handle and close out account. Now i am getting multiple daily calls for $80 late fee on a card i never had or used. I spoke to another customer service rep and they said they would erase $40, but i still owed $40. NOT PAYING THIS! HARRASSMENT!!! read more

I was approved for a loan but needed to verify my identity. Their "partner" for doing this failed me. The questions that populated at random that caused me to fail? "In which state does your (ex mother in law) now live?" (I divorced 14 years ago) "In which states does your (ex husband) currently own property?" (he last lived in Texas so none of the answers I could even guess at since Texas wasn't listed) "What age bracket best describes (ex husband's CURRENT WIFE)?" HOW. Just HOW would you pick a credit verifying partner that this was THIS BAD at picking questions? 3 of my 5 questions. Failed. HOW would my ex husband's current wife even REMOTELY be connected to my credit report? This failure permanently bars me from any lending from Bread. I can't reapply. Ever. Since they wouldn't disclose who their verifying partner was, nor indicate that they would change their verifying partners; I'm leaving this review under Bread Financial. Bread is purportedly a tech-forward company. Seems to use the worst screen-scraping bot to come up with identity-verifying questions. And I am BLESSED that I can pay in cash, I am BLESSED that I have normal lenders and have other lines of credit. I simply wanted to buy something and this was the lender that particular vendor was partnered with. I have no other OPTION now, but to buy in cash. I can't imagine how unfair this would be to someone who actually needed the loan. Terrible, terrible. read more
