It's been a few months since my first visit and, on the strength of more recent reviews (go Yelpers!!) we headed back here last night. My main gripes last time were largely attributable to the fact that BMB hadn't been open all that long, the menu wasn't fully available for example. It's very clear that they've acted on feedback and made changes though, massive improvement all round. I'll start with the only downside. It's noise. Very noise. It's quite a small space, with a lot of people crammed in with nothing to baffle the sound so it can make conversation a little tricky if you are seated, as we were, across from one another at the long table in the middle. That aside though, how was the food! Oh my goodness, where to start! I ordered the Smokey Burger and some sweet potato fries, my partner the Full House and Bacon Fries. My burger, with swiss cheese, purple slaw, BBQ sauce and my choice of 'Smoked Meat of the Day' being Beef Brisket was delicious. The burger was nicely pink in the middle, the brisket melted in the mouth and the cheese, slaw and BBQ sauce gave just the right amount of gloopy deliciousness that after the first bite it was hard to put back down! (it was pretty damn hard to get in my mouth as well, massive burger was massive!). Last time the sweet potato fries were ok, but a little greasy and small and... well a bit sad. This time, crisp, salty, sweet, much much better!! My partner's Full House was another massive hunk of food which she assured me was tasty, I did manage to taste some of her bacon fries, and liked the combination of crispy bacon and BBQ sauce over some nice chunky chips. Washed down with a Sam Adams and I was full! The staff are all very laidback, chatty and friendly, and I do like the vibe of the place, if it were a little quieter it would be perfect (but then, I'm old and going deaf, no doubt). I had high hopes when I first visited BMB, and was disappointed, so it's almost all the sweeter that they've upped their game and are producing some excellent food. I'm not sure how I've never actually reviewed Bread Meats Bread?? It's easily my favourite place for burgers in the city!! The food is perfection. Their Cali burger, with mustard fried patties are out of this world and you can choose to have 2, 3 or 4 of them! I actually have to force myself to order something different sometimes as I could happily order this every single time. But I have ordered other items and enjoyed them all. The brisket sandwich is goooooood, the pulled pork with all the tender stem broccoli is even better. And then there's The Wolf of St Vincent Street - one to order if you're hungry. For a place that gets it's burgers so spot on maybe you're thinking the sides are a bit meh? Nope. Chips & bacon, sweet potato fries, coleslaw all great to share but my favourite are the poutines. I always order the Glaspoutine - chips, gravy, cheese curds and grated cheedar. At £4.50 it's huge and could easily be a meal in itself. The restaurant itself is not that large and usually always busy, expect to wait for a table at peak times but somehow the queue always moves quickly and you're seated scoffing awesome food before you know it! Price wise it's very reasonable for the portion size and the quality of the food. I always leave super happy and wondering when I'll be back for more :) I've taken so many friends to Bread Meats Bread for food whilst they've been visiting Glasgow and they'll all loved it as much as me, which makes me happy. So I am a little bit late to this party, but I finally made it to Bread Meats Bread. I have heard so much about the new burger joints in town, I just don't get the same opportunities to get in to the city centre to check these places out since having my daughter last year! So yesterday, on a rare child-free day, hubby and I made our way to Bread Meats Bread for lunch. We were a little disappointed in the sparsity of vegetarian options on the menu for my husband who is vegetarian. Basically, it was grilled cheese, and that was it. I really did expect them to have a couple of veg burger options! However, our server was very helpful, and explained that there will be a new menu launching very soon with more vegetarian options to choose from. If you like meat, then you are spoilt for choice here, from brisket to pulled pork, from classic beef burger to the Red label which is a blend of Scotch beef and spicy Sicilian n'duja pork sausage. I had geared myself up for having the poutine, but the temperature in Glasgow was hot hot hot, and I just couldn't face a big hot serving of chips, curds, and gravy. I opted for a classic cheeseburger, hubby had grilled cheese, and we shared some sides of sweet potato fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. Let's get the not so good bits out of the way, so the grilled cheese being the only vegetarian option on the current menu was really nothing to get excited about. It was described as grilled cheese on artisan bread, though really this was a plain old cheese toastie. I wasn't a huge fan of the coleslaw - very heavy on the mayonnaise, making it rich and sickly. On to the good stuff... Now the sweet potato fries, these were delicious, however they arrived at our table luke warm. I would have really loved these if served at a higher temperature. As delicious as they were, I am not a fan of being served luke warm food. The onion rings were perfect - light crispy batter encasing a ring of soft onion. The cheeseburger was perfect! Beautifully moist and tasty beef burger on a bed of slow cooked onions topped with cheese, enclosed in a pillowy soft brioche bun. I will definitely be back for more of these! The best burger I have had in a while! I loved my experience at Bread Meats Bread, but was a little disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options. I guess we'll just have to go back soon to try out that new menu! :) read more

Bread Meats Bread is my favourite 'BMB' in Glasgow... their adventurous burgers really stand out amongst Glasgow's ever more crowded burger scene. It's definitely more of a "down and dirty" burger joint and has a super cool ambience. My top tip would be to go with some friends... and leave them in the queue (table bookings aren't allowed sadly) whilst you nip across to the Drum & Monkey pub for a pint! Sadly the only thing I can criticise BMB for is its beer range, with the "own brand" beer to be avoided. read more

I had been trying to make it here for quite a while but hadn't for various reasons, that is, until one fateful night the wife and I along with a couple of friends found ourselves baby free, starving and just round the corner. I love burgers, I could honestly eat burgers every single day (I have the belly to prove that). I love donuts, I could also eat these every day. Put the two together, add in some candied bacon and we have a Luther burger. The sweetness of the donut combines perfectly with the spicy beef mayo and the two thin burgers separated by melted, gooey cheese. Now there is something I have to bring up and it might be an uncomfortable subject for some but it needs to be said. Gents, I'm sure some of you have been told the opposite to this and ladies, you know for sure that this is true... SIZE MATTERS! The only thing that left me a teeny bit disappointed was that next to the wife's Wolf of St. Vincent Street, the Luther was looking a little, well... shrimpy. There have been a lot of mixed reviews regarding this burger joint, and I'm not entirely sure why. With so many similar restaurants popping up, I guess it's hard not to compare one to another, and perhaps that's why Bread Meats Bread has had some negative response. This place quickly became one of my favourite restaurants to go to for a quick bite. Every time we walk in the door, whether it's busy or not, a friendly member of staff is always there to greet us, show us a menu and let us know how long we'll be waiting for a table. I honestly don't mind the wait, especially at peak times, it helps me build up my appetite. Despite the several changes that have been made to the menu since it opened, my favourite remains the same: the Pepperoni Burger. This comes from their 'Red Label' meat, this is a normal beef batty, which has Spicy N'Duja sausage mixed through it - my idea of heaven. It was topped with Spicy Sausage & Pepperoni sauce, mozzarella and actual slices of pepperoni, all sandwiched into a Garlic Brioche bun. The burger was delicious and full of flavour not only from the beef, but the spicy sausage that was flecked throughout the pattie. The bun had a great garlic taste but didn't over power the burger and it all just tasted so darn GOOD. My only qualm would be that the slices of pepperoni on top of the burger were quite salty, which unfortunately did tend to dominate. In the early days when Bread Meats Bread first opened, there were a lot of reviews going around that the Sweet Potato Fries were a bit soggy and not up to much. I can tell you that they have definitely been working to improve the recipe as they are now deliciously crisp and oh so moreish! Every time I go, I always order a side of sweet potato fries - I can rarely finish them though! Even though there can be a long line of people waiting to be seated, I've always felt that the staff are very attentive and never make you feel rushed, which I really appreciate. In recent months there has been a host of new burger spots opening up in Glasgow, the city dubbed the "burger capital of europe". I don't know if that's an official thing but if it is then it's certainly better than Glasgow's other reputation as the stab capital of europe! If Glasgow is the burger capital of europe, then Bread Meats Bread is the jewel in it's crown. I usually keep it simple, can't go wrong with a good cheeseburger but there's all sorts of weird and wonderful burger creations going on. But it's the chips that do it for me, the bacon fries with chilli sriracha mayo are a winner. The poutines are epic too. Cons - I don't like the fish tank windows which display you to passers-by on the street while you eat. And nobody likes queueing but you are guaranteed one at this place. Despite this, the staff are always super friendly, even if there's a queue halfway to Edinburgh they've never made us feel pressured to get out so they can turn the tables. I know I'm late to the Bread Meats Bread party. I don't know why I left it so long to try it. Maybe just burger fatigue? I don't know. However, the other night we'd left dinner a bit late and kitchens were starting to close but Bread Meats Bread was still open. Honestly, I'd originally had my heart set on Italian but nothing obvious was presenting itself, so I relented and we tried it. I guess it's a good sign when a restaurant is packed full on a random Thursday evening. We had to wait five minutes for a table but were were soon seated and ordering drinks. The staff seemed just slightly disorganised - I think three different people tried to take our drinks order - but they were friendly and attentive and I'd rather that than end up getting forgotten about. I ordered the black and blue, a beef burger topped with bacon, blue cheese and mushrooms - all of which I love. My parter in crime ordered the smoky burger with brisket. Having never eaten here before we nearly ordered a portion of fries each, the waitress kindly suggested that that might be slightly too much food (she was right - we didn't even manage to finish the one portion we ordered to share). We weren't waiting long before the food arrived. Partner in crime had not been paying proper attention and was surprised to discover that he had ordered a burger with brisket on it, not, as he had thought, a brisket sandwich. Imagine his delight. The burgers was delicious, cooked medium rare and just slightly pink in the middle. The toppings were great quality. Everything down to the roll was perfect. So, I was a fool to wait so long. I now need to return quite urgently in order to try the following: bacon fries, poutine, grilled cheese, the Scottalian burger and the cheesesteak. The portions are definitely on the large size, so this might take a fair few trips. read more

We really enjoyed our food ! We just wanted a light bite so split the Jerk chicken BBQ sandwich- BBQ chicken Not BBQ sauce. Like pulled pork in a way. Really good!! The chips were med cut very yummy a great portion to share! We came because they have sweet potatoes chips which I LOVE! But sadly they were out of them! :( sad day! Busy Sunday ! had sold out an hour before they said ;( *Good house beer not very hoppy. Golden. Cool atmosphere. Fun southern decor -rustic wooden tables and benches , dishes and cutlery ! I finally had the chance to try Bread Meats Bread lately... twice. And so glad that I did. The first time I went, I had the jerk chicken barbecue sandwich. I really enjoyed it. Although, it honestly reminded me more of a pulled chicken bbq sandwich from the American South. I wouldn't have thought it was jerk, unless it had actually stated it. It doesn't really seem Caribbean... but it DOES taste super yummy. The next time I visited I tried the Redhead. It's a spiced chicken sandwich. I absolutely LOVED it. AND it was twice as big as I expected... SO good. The service at the restaurant is really friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was that during my first visit they were out of their famous sweet potato fries... but if they're THAT good, then of course they're going to run out. How in the hell have I not written my review for this place (the holy grail of burger joints in Glasgow) yet!? I think, given the various awesome ratings so far, you probably don't need much more from me. So I'll keep it brief. The burgers are out of this world superb; juicy, cooked medium and topped with fresh ingredients. You have to get the Cali burger, which is an exercise in indulgence. Go for the 3x3 (3 patties, layered in cheese). Or the Wolf of St. Vincent Street. Or...well anything frankly. Get a couple of side bowls of sweet potato fries and gasp as you suddenly realise you have developed some kind of obsession with shovelling handfuls of the orange carby goodness into your gob. I'd also recommend getting a wee schooner (wtf?) of their own beer to wash it all down. I'd also recommend doing this on a working lunch as I can testify that the 3pm crash is sudden and severe. Oh, and they also do take out. £8 for a bacon cheeseburger, fries and can of juice. The staff are always really helpful, chatty and friendly even though the place is pretty much continuously mobbed. The one downside is the size. It is super compact and lunch time eats will probably mean a 10-15 minute wait on a table as there is no booking option (and btw, I hope they keep it that way). In desperate need of some naughtiness I went in search of burger heaven at BMB. The queue was hugeeee this time. We waited a good 20 minutes for a seat. The food looked insane as it was arriving at the tables around me, so there was no chance I was turning around and going elsewhere. If you don't mind a wait and don't mind being seated by some absolute random - then you'll love this place. As far as burgers go, this place is where it's at! I decided on the full house burger this time - beef patty, beef brisket, crispy fried onions, spicy beef mayo and american cheese. DAYUM! It was honesty amazing. So succulent, juicy and flavourful. I could eat it over and over. I paired it with the delicious bacon fries. These are by far the best bacon fries out there! Super crispy and smoky. YUMMM! Love a BMB date. Until next time! read more

Honestly my favourite burger in Glasgow hands down but in addition to the marvellous meat it is the personal and outstanding service. The staff are so kind to both myself and my family. I really rate a restaurant on how they treat my kids and BMB treats us like family. They truly appreciate and value their customers and I in turn appreciate the experiences they give us. With so many burger options in Glasgow, it is very hard to set yourself apart. Bread Meats Bread, although having a similar name to another burger place we know, does it their way with a great menu of different burgers, grilled sandwiches and sides. I think what I like about it the most is that they have a range of burgers for all budgets and appetites, depending on how many and what kind of toppings you want. Their classic burger is only £6! Last time I went I opted for the Black and Blue burger, which is topped with blue cheese, bacon, slow onions, pickles and sauce. They also ask how you want your burger cooked - be it medium or well done. It was delicious, really filling and definitely worth the £8. They also offer a range of chips, including sweet potato fries and poutine, which is perfect if you're feeling a bit delicate! However, the portions are quite big so I would recommend sharing or just getting the burgers/sandwiches. Of the few times I've been I've always been more impressed by the burgers than the chips. The main downside is that they don't offer bookings and be prepared to share a table with strangers like you're at Wagamama if there is only 2 of you. This place has been on my list for actual ages. We've tried to go a few times but couldn't get seats - tonight we finally lucked out and were seated right away without a booking. I was happy to see gluten free buns on offer, and while usually I give them a miss, I decided to try one tonight. I ordered the Cali burger (which is somewhat like a rather famous Western US chain's Double Double). I also had to try the bacon chips, which were chips topped with bacon and "beefy" mayo. My veggie partner had the Fun-Guy, a grilled cheese and vegetable sandwich and a side of onion rings. My burger was really good. The bun was soft and light - totally unlike the usual gluten free dense, chewy nightmares most places have. I would return solely to enjoy another burger on that bun. The burger itself was quite good, though I'm sorry to say it doesn't hold up to its US chain inspiration. (Make it animal style and we'll talk.) The bacon chips were massive - a bowl of chips absolutely covered in diced bacon and perfectly topped with beefy mayo - they managed to distribute it in a way that you got a little with just about every bite. Impressive. I definitely feel like I ate a heart attack's worth of grease but it was pretty well worth it for the taste. My partner's sandwich was very buttery, crispy-fried and looked awesome. He says it was good but heavy, due to the butter + mayo + he thought the vegetables might have been fried in oil too. His says the onion rings were good, but combined with the heavy sandwich were a bit too much. I definitely wouldn't eat this way every day, but it was really delicious. I need a nap now... read more

Argh......I'm not really sure about this place. Ok, so the food is delicious. I would even go so far to say that it's one of the best burgers I've had in the city but the service...especially management is lacking big time. Recently, some friends, my boyfriend and I met here for dinner. We were a party of 6 and it was 8pm, so we figured we'd missed the dinner rush and might be able to get a table without waiting too too long. My boyfriend and I arrived first and sat waiting for a table to open up while waiting for our friends to arrive. By the time our friends arrived, a table had yet to open up, which was fine, we were handed menus to look over while we waited. About 10 minutes passed and a 4 seater table opened up and a staff member told us that 4 of us could take a seat and as soon as the table closest to that table opened up, he would pull it over and the other two people could join the table. Since my boyfriend was downstairs in the loo, I waited for him, while the other four went to the table. When my boyfriend came back upstairs, I mentioned to him what was going on and we waited. It was another 15 minutes or so (and many 'what the hell is going on' text messages between me and the table of friends) when the manager came over asking us how many in our party (because there were two other tables towards the front of the restaurant that had opened up). I told her what was going on and she walked away. A few minutes later, she came back and said that she was going to take our order, because she thought the table we were waiting on was paying and leaving and by the time our food would come out, we would be able to join our friends. We were not happy about this, but she took our order anyway. It was another 5 or so minutes before our table cleared and we were able to sit with our friends. What a mess. By the time our food came out, it seemed like we had been waiting for eternity. I ordered the full house which was the burger with pulled pork on it, with a side of sweet potato fries. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger with the poutine. Another poutine was ordered, a couple of black and blues and the falafal burger was also ordered. My burger was DELICIOUS. If it had been any less, this night would have been the pits, but it was really great. The bbq on the burger stole the show and will bring my back for many meals to come. The sweet potato fries were meh ok, I make better ones at home. My boyfriends poutine was meh. I'm still not sold on it, but everyone else seems to love it. It was a lot of food- my boyfriend rolled himself out of there, which is odd- he can eat like you wouldn't believe. If it weren't for the food being delicious and my boyfriend and best friends being there, this would have been a pretty crappy review. Time for a review update, I have now been to BMB on numerous occasions and I can happily say they now get that extra star! Now let's just get this out the way - Poutine, why you got to be so damm tasty, juicy And so durty. I could eat it everyday. For those who have never tried it - don't over think it just try it! Chips... Tasty....cheese curds, yep love it, smothered in gravy nomnom nom!! We normally go for the glass ones with extra cheese. Burger of choice is now the Cali burger 2x2. Dripping with taste packed full of goodness. 2 patties, cheese,lettuce, sauce juicy tomato served in a toasted bun. There is no doubt about this being the best burger joint in town. read more

It was a 5* for me, but I would give them 10* If possible. I ordered the blue cheese burger and Carlos the Scotlain, and were awesome! Super tasty, perfect meat, same as the toppings and sauces. The staff is really nice, even with the busy restaurant that they usually have. We wait almost 30 minutes to be seated, but it was worth it. I will come back to try other one!! read more

I thought since I have been to BMB now about 100 times since my first review it's time to give it a quick update. I LOVE BMB....like I am madly and passionately in love. The vibe here is cool and hip, and although you will almost always have to wait for a table, the 5-10 minutes wait time will be completely worth it. The staff here are some of my favourite in the city, they always greet me warmly and the service is fast and usually pretty slick. I also really like that they don't have a high turn over of staff cause it shows that BMB treat their staff well. Food wise I think I have pretty much by now tried everything on the menu and would honestly recommend absolutely everything. However special mention has to go to my personal favourites the Pastrami Burger and the signature Wolf of St Vincent Street which is served with American cheese, Crispy Bacon, Pulled Pork in BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions and 'Nduja Mayo...it's amazing! I am also very very partial to their Sweet potato fries and Bacon Chip which is a portion of their already delicious fries topped with deep fried crispy bacon bits and a tangy spicy beef mayo. If you are not in a burger kind of mood the Poutine at BMB is excellent - the gravy is thick, meaty and tastes like heaven, be warned tho this is a meal in it's self and will easily serve as a side between 2 or 3 people. So another week and I visited another of Glasgow's notable gourmet burger joints - Bread Meats Bread. We went and had to wait 15 mins for a table - we weren't bothered. By the time we were seated I had decided I wanted the Wolf of St Vincent, a burger lavishly coated in pulled pork. Two of my favourite things in one bun. However, when it finally came it wasn't that great - a relatively bland affair. I mean, I'd go back but I've had better in recent weeks. This was a necessary stop after a red-eye into Scotland. After coming out of Glasgow Central this was a couple blocks away. I'm a little ashamed that my first restaurant in Scotland was American fare. My brother and I each got a meaty entree (burger for me, chicken for him) and split some buffalo fries. Everything was pretty mediocre (which coming from someone who was completely famished means it may have actually been bad, but it's hard to say). The burger was overdone. We ate everything though. I wouldn't make a return trip. There are definitely better options than this touristy restaurant in the area, but it served its purpose. Bread Meats Bread holds a dear place in my heart, as it was the very first restaurant I went to in Glasgow before moving here. I was visiting from Dundee to see a gig at King Tuts. The next day hungover and nearly dead I saw greasy beautiful burgers staring at me through a small window on St Vincent St. I followed my heart and it led me to greatness... Bread Meats Bread has mighty fine burgers. Mighty fine burgers that come in different options with different specials popping up once in a while. Each option, will bring a burger lover joy, as they're good quality, just greasy enough, and put together for ultimate tastiness. For me, the cali burger is a go to, and definitely a good burger to start with for a newcomer. On the other hand, if you're a burger connoisseur you might want to up for an option covered in pulled pork like the wolf or get a nice big side of poutine (fries covered in delicious things.) Really though, their food is freakin delicious, and you should try it. Now being the small square of a restaurant it is Bread Meats Bread, can (and will be) crammed. Having been there many times I can tell you it is unlikely you won't have to wait for a table, unless it's an odd time of day. With that being said, the staff are great and will get you a clean table as fast as possible, especially if you're nice and friendly. Once you're sitting you may feel a bit rushed, but don't let that stop you from enjoying your meal. The staff are just trying to do their best to get everyone a seat. I promise if you sit back and relax, you will eat your burger and you will like it. Overall, on a street in the city centre full of burgers, Bread Meats Bread is by far your best option. You might not get the best restaurant experience of your life, but it's possible you'll get the best burger of it. read more

While I have always had to wait for a table, its always been worth it. If you are worried about the portions not being able to fill you up, don't be. These burgers are surprisingly filling and there are some wonderful sides. My favourite so far has to be the mobster burger. A tender mince with hints of spicy pepperoni. Each bite brings a new flavour to hit your tongue, from the fresh basil top down to the creamy mascarpone base. read more

Been to this place on four occasions and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else now in the City Centre! It's perfect for a girly catch up at lunch and even a cosy date with your boyfriend too. So I'll talk a bit about each occasion to give you more insight on my impression! On the first occasion my boyfriend had taken me for dinner, after recommendation by my friend. The place was really welcoming, rustic looking and all in all lively! Great atmosphere. I ordered one of the pulled chicken sandwiches and my boyfriend ordered a burger. The staff were lovely and attentive, you might even say a bit excessive sometimes! When the food arrived we were extremely pleased by the portion size! Rather large, which is amazing for the price and the quality was exceptional! Both me and my other half were delighted and swore to come back again. The total bill ended up around £20 ish, with drinks and a side of chips included. We left extremely happy and full! The second occasion, I returned with my boyfriend on a Sunday on the off chance that they would still be open. We arrived at quarter to eight, which was actually 15 minutes before closing time! We were about ready to leave when we were told this by the staff but were in fact told there was a table available. Well I have to say, we wished that we never stayed :( We were seated and then asked to order, which was no problem! When our food arrived the portion size was tiny and looked like it had been slopped onto the plate. We were not impressed at all. We much rather would have left and went elsewhere instead of having this horrible experience! We were so sad. My boyfriend since hasn't been back, which is a shame however I returned with one of my friends on the third occasion hoping that we just caught them on a bad day. I was so glad I went back! Absolute perfection again, just need to win my boyfriend over again! So I am a regular from now on and always will be unless the food quality deteriorates or else the portions get smaller! The falafel burger being one of the main vegetarian options virtually chose itself and I wasnt disappointed. The garlicky hummous guaranteed things would get a little messy but it was a price worth paying. Pickled dill was the perfect foil for the falafel and lifted the bun and filling to another level. Add to that some of the best chips Ive ever tasted and friendly efficient service and I was a happy bunny. The falafel burger itself was a little hard in a few places but overall an excellent first visit. Recommended! read more

Since my first review, I have been back several times and I have to be honest, I've had burgers ever since. My hands down favourite burger is the 2x2 Cali burger because of the sauce and the amazingness. I can't say why, but I think everybody should have it. for people that are hungrier than I am, have the bigger versions, the 3x3 or massive 4x4, you will not regret it! The one time I was here, the South African had the Burger Van Burger and was so kind to let me try it - it is delicious. Think McDonalds cheeseburger but authentic and better. I think that will be the one I have next time I go. I've also had the cheeseburger, but unfortunately it is a little uninspired, especially compared to the other burgers on the menu. A dish that is far from being uninspired, however, are the caramelised sweet potato fries. I admit I was apprehensive, but bloody hell, they are brilliant. Note to the wise, however, they are very sweet. Make sure you have the bacon cheese fries too so that you can balance out the sweetness ;) read more

I am not going to enter the great Burger debate in Glasgow.. My first love of burgers goes to 7Bone down South. Anyway, Saturday night and the queue as ever was out the door. Howver, my friend and I spotted a table outside and since the sun was shining we thought why not! The service was quick and friendly, although it is a bit funny/odd having the table inside looking out the window at you eating. I had the cheesburger with cajun mayo and sweet potato fries. The fries were really good, but they did go cold quite quickly with us being outside and 1 portion of fries between two would have been enough! Favourite burger place in Glasgow! Their burgers are sooo good! I chose the Caliburger 2x2, you'd be surprised at how big the burger is! I wasn't as hungry as I normally am so I ordered the smallest size but I was stuffed by the end! I'm so glad I asked the waitress which size would be suitable. You go for a 3x3 if you are pretty hungry and you go for a 4x4 if you are starving! You can choose how well you want your meat to be done, we both chose medium and it came out a nice pink in the middle. I liked how there wasn't too much juice in the meat since if there was, it would make the bun too soggy towards the end. The other burger we had was the Full House Burger, I only had a bite of it but the braised pulled pork was really easy to chew and full of flavour, would be worth a try if you didn't want to just go for a normal cheeseburger! We also ordered the sweet potato poutine, which is basically sweet potato fries, gravy and cheese, it was a combination of sweet and salty but it surprisingly matched well! However, if you don't like your fries dipped in that much gravy, this might not be the dish for you, but if you do like gravy and chips, what are you waiting for? If you come visit Glasgow, this restaurant should be on your checklist of things to eat! It does get pretty packed though so there might be a little wait, but normally it doesn't take long, probably only 5-10 mins, go try it :)! read more

Greeted by a friendly waitress on arrival and given a choice of window or bench, it would have been a bit goldfish bowl-like perched in the window on my own but no doubt I'd have been oblivious in company. With seating for around 50 it's popularity or attraction was quickly proved when I arrived for an early lunch at 11. 30am. Left for a few moments without anyone 'hovvering', which I dislike, it was pleasant and prompt service once I'd decided. I took the Blue cheese burger with a side of sweet potato fries, which left me to sip my diet coke for only about ten minutes whils it was all freshly prepared. On arrival and commencing to eat the simple presentation shows that this place is all about the taste experience. Delicious crispy yet soft centred and dry fries and a great tasting seasoned burger. Just enough sauce without overflowing and the 'shrooms were delicious in the medley of the toppings. Like MacArthur said, "I shall return".... read more

When I left Montreal to come study in Glasgow I was incredibly excited for the opportunity and couldn't wait to explore Scotland. However, I was a bit worried about the food scene. For anyone who has visited Montreal, it has one of the best food scenes and some of the most creative restaurants in the world. The thing I thought I was going to miss the most was Poutine. That classic Quebec only French fries (chips) covered in gravy and cheese curds. It is heaven in a plate and although they may serve it in other cites there is no where better to get poutine than in the city that created it, Montreal. Then I found bread meats bread. This small restaurant is always busy and has a great atmosphere. Also it has the greatest burgers in Galsgow it also offers incredible milkshakes and low and be hold POUTINE! Yes this little restaurant not only has poutine but some of the best poutine I have ever had ! It even gives some Montreal restaurant a run for their money! Besides the poutine, the burger menu is amazing especially the Luther burger ! And always ask about their specialty milkshakes. I got the Nutella milkshake today topped with a giant Nutella doughnut! read more

Everything here I tried was delicious! We ordered the buffalo chicken poutine. Make sure you come when it's not too busy. We waited around 25 minutes and I think that was worth it. It's heavy food, so account for that too. The milkshakes are delicious, and I would recommend sharing one in addition to your meal. My faith in the burger as a decent dish in Glasgow took a battering last week so on New Year's Eve my wife said that we should head to Bread Meats Bread. I am very pleased she did. We were welcomed by a very smiley waitress and we were given a seat along the centre table as we waited for our third person to arrive. Not the best seat by far but we spied a booth becoming vacant, asked if we could move and the friendly staff obliged with no bother at all. We ordered drinks, soft, on draught and when our third person arrived we ordered food. The only tiny thing I can suggest if they read this is to fine tune the syrup levels on the drinks machine as it was a touch on the heavy side! I ordered the FullHouse and a side of chips. My wife a Classic and our friend a Bacon & Cheese. When it arrived in front of me I knew I had been both advised and had chosen well. The FullHouse comes with cheese, bbq sauce, bacon bits and a slightly heavenly slice of Brisket on it. I had expected a bit of meat on top of the patty but this was a generous slice and was utterly delicious. The patty itself was soft, seasoned and extremely good. I hate pickles so had asked for it without and they had obliged me. This burger was just great and restored my faith in good burgers. Ok, I am over egging the pudding as I know there are decent burger joints all over Glasgow but I had been very disillusioned at a previous meal. My side, chips at £2.50 a serve were exactly as they should be. Crisp, hot, tasty and in decent quantity. My friend had the sweet potato fries caramelised with maple syrup, they were pretty amazing too. For the three of us, burgers and a side and 5 soft drinks between us came in at £37. I didn't mind that at all, it is good value for money in an independent place with high quality food, great friendly (and while very busy) staff with a clear vision of where it wants to go. Excellent meal. Both the pastrami and chicken sandwiches were fantastic. Only down side was the rubber like cheese in the chips and poutine, but we are not use to it here in the uk. My boyfriend and I dined here this afternoon for a late lunch so it wasn't busy and we were able to get seated right away. The food came and the burgers were a feast for the eyes.. but keep in mind there is a lot of meat inside and after a few bites it started to become heavy and a bit unsatisfying. I also had a huge piece of fat in my burger that I had to spit out.. the buffalo fries and onion rings were just ok. Overall, we left very full but we'll probably wait a while before if we go back. UPDATED POST: Just tried Bread meats Bread for the third and LAST time. I am updating my stars from 3 to 1 due to the fact that we just ordered take away service as we've been in quarantine and haven't had take out in months and as we go in to take our first bites, I notice a lovely black hair embedded into my burger and my boyfriends was burnt. These burgers also always have a ton of fat in them and the fries were old and disgusting as well. We will never eat here ever again and hope I don't get sick from the few bites that I had. Such a huge shame and disappointment.. it's embarrassing that this happened while it's not even that busy and takeaway is the only option. read more

Very disappointed - went in for takeaway. Was looking forward to eating here - smell is amazing. Ordered a £5 takeaway hotdog - too ages, got back to the office and took my first mouthful. Thank goodness the phone rang as I had to put the roll down....it fell open to reveal a RAW sausage (they cook them fresh). I marched straight back, got my money back and almost lost my eyeballs by the comments made by the guy I spoke to "It would have been safe to eat raw, we know the source of our meat". Please get a full food hygiene certificate before making such a stupid comment. Meat is going to have germs on the outside, it you mince it and make it into sausages then you need to fully cook it. read more

After a lunchtime visit to Bread Meats Bread today I'm afraid to say this will be my last. Working just around the corner this has become our little mid week pick me up. Theres nothing quite like the promise of caramelised sweet potato fries on a hump day to power you through a mornings work. Phoning up the order and nipping round for quick collection is also a lifesaver in the city. Unfortunately those sweet sweet fries aren't enough to win me back. The last few visits have resulted in me returning to work to find a barely cooked burger in my takeout bag (requested medium received VERY rare). One was even inedible. Workmates have also been on the sad end of mixed up orders with buns covered in coleslaw etc that has been requested to be left off. Surely you write it down when we call? Todays visit however absolutely took the crown for the worst service I've ever received. On entering the shop I was directed to the two front of house boys who usually man the till system. After explaining I was there for collection the boy proceeded to rattle off an order in a barely audible tone over the lunchtime din. On asking him to repeat what he said I was met with SASS of an impressive level. After a lengthly silence he asked if I would like him to speak more slowly and proceeded to sound out each syllable of the word slowly - just on the off chance I didn't catch it the first time. Insinuating someone has hearing or learning difficulties is a disgusting way to treat a customer in my eyes. We exchanged shocked glances, paid for our meal and left. Arriving at work I found my jerk chicken sandwich absolutely sodden with grease and full of big lumps of chicken thigh/wing with stringy tendrils of fat creeping out from under the salad leaves. YUM! Last straw for me. Next time I need a mid week boost I'll head over to Social Bite where the staff are always happy to see customers new and old. read more
