Iconic Brisbane pub This iconic pub has several dining and bar areas and we love the historic building. There is a great selection of beers on tap and a good wine list. We opted for the famous steaks and they were cooked to perfection although lacking the char grilled flavour. I'm not too fond of the sloppy bacon mixture that comes on top of the baked potatoes either, but otherwise we had a great night catching up with old friends.

I was disappointed last time we ate at the Breakfast Creek Hotel because they have signs that say they have both Grain and Grass fed beef, yet none of the beef available in the hotel was actually Grass fed. Or at least they were all finished off on Grain. Most of the cuts of meat were at least 100 - 180 days Grain fed. I have found an old article from 2000 where it's quoted "Another long-standing tradition at the Creek is its strong reliance on grassfed product. The only grainfed menu items offered are one-off specials and an MSA yearling grainfed T-bone. "Real full-flavoured beef is part of the Creek's signature, and we feel we would compromise that if we moved too far from grassfed supply," Unfortunately 10+ years later, and they seemed to have moved to all Grain fed. For a steakhouse of this reputation and price, I thought they would at least offer a couple of Grass fed options.

The Breakfast Creek Hotel also known to many as the Breaky Creek Hotel has long been a Brisvegas icon for it's steak. There are 2 distinctive bars in this massive establishment one on the inside and the beer garden on the outside. There are also 2 distinctive places you can order steak, in their restaurant and out in the beer garden. If you're on a date, I would suggest booking inside the restaurant (books out very quickly so make sure you ring ahead)... and if you're there on a whim, you may have to sit outside in the beer garden... which also books out rather quickly and fills up faster. The steaks are on display to prove they are fresh, and cooked to your liking with your choice of sauce. I always get the baked potato (they put yummy bacon bits, chives and sour cream on) with the garden salad... but you can get chips or vegies as alternatives as well. The one thing I love about this place is that they give you free damper (aussie bush bread) and butter so you can nibble on something while you get drunk before your steak arrives. Always good to prevent sloppy people mushing around the joint. The average price you're looking at for a rib fillet (my favourite) is between $33-$39 dollars for your meal, but there are other meals like chicken and ribs on the menu as well for those non steak eaters. Over the years the menu has changed, the celebrities have waned and the owners have also made an exit to new ones... but this place has history and with that, it will always be a busy place to enjoy your steak day or night. Definetely check this place out, empty stomachs beforehand though... the meals are pretty big.

What can you say, about the iconic Brecky Creek. Yes it is expensive , and is probably a special occasion venue. But I can't fault the place, the service was good and the meal , while lets just say, look at the before and after shots , and you decide.

    Rib fillet steak $36!

You really couldn't ask for more from the look of the hotel, it's slick and urban but still has a warm homely feel. Unfortunately noise really is an issue. Chur Burger on the ground floor plays very loud music, and has an alfresco area that is below one side of the hotel, this is also the entrance area to the lift to the rooftop bar. Maybe I'm just getting old, or perhaps I should have realised this hotel is obviously a party style hotel and was best not to book here on weekends if I wasn't partying... My room was on the second floor and it was noisy, mostly with people talking in the alfresco area of Chur below. The lovely staff moved me to a quieter room on the fifth floor. One of the friendly staff members told me that they were currently looking in to how to make the rooms quieter. I suggest that when you book make a request to be in a quiet room if you're staying there on the weekend.

Sweet graphic art and edgy design in the bedroom and bathroom. One of the rooms with the hot tub has a larger balcony with more view - great if your having a couple of friends over. The other hot tub room has a more secluded balcony if you want a little more privacy. Nice bed, spacious shower, sweet toiletries and better entertainment system than The Emporium. But the towels aren't as nice as Emporium or even the ones on my house. Soft bed sheets though. I ordered room service from Chur. Amazing lamb burger - a must try. Check out Tryp, it really is worth a nights stay.

The staff were all very friendly, however the place suffered from an odd feeling - for example the buffet breakfast was strangely laid out down a pseudo corridor with the milk being around the corner for your cereal? And the coffee machine being hidden away!

The breakfast that was basically included ($1 extra) was one of the best buffets I ever got in comparatively priced and even pricier hotels (your mileage may wary. I eat a lot.). It is a little bit of a "hop" to the city via the "city hopper" (which is free by the way) but if you check the timetable (unlike us) you get from hotel to Eagle st pier in about 15 minutes tops. Overall one of my favorite places to stay in Brisbane hands down. Their cookies are pretty average though. Honestly not a single thing to nitpick at. The rooms and facilities are great! Although if I must, the choice of large sheets of frosted glass separating the bathrooms from the rest of the room can make room for some amusing situations. It does look pretty slick and modern as the rest of the room, so I digress. In summary, I would definitely recommend.

WOW to the WOW WOW!!…read more No words.. No words.... NO WORDS! Just beyond amazing is what I experienced at this hotel. From the moment that you arrive and walk in, you are instantly greeted with inviting smiles and the most relaxing, fruity, pleasant signature Capri by Fraser scent. No, I am not kidding. Each of the Capri by Fraser properties have their own crafted scents that are filtering through the vents and into the hotel lobby air. At this property the scent is a blend of apple blossom, cider wood, ginger flower, lemon and orange... HEAVENLY! I DID NOT want to check in to my room :) The theme of this Capri by Fraser property is feeling like you are in the rainforest. The designer was spot on because that is exactly how my friend and I felt staying here. Being the interior designer that I am, I have an immense appreciation for places with eye catching design and flow. The designers of this hotel (award winning designers ) Ministry Of Design really did an exceptional job on this entire property. The attention to detail they put into this place is off the charts. This place is the definition of trendy and urban chic. MY type of style ;-) So let's continue... The moment you walk into the lobby and to your right is a living vertical garden that is so beautiful and refreshing. To the left of that is the hotel restaurant, Asana by Chef Pete Evans which has a delicious seasonal menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was sooo good. On the second floor is the hotel gym, rec area, sauna and pool. All very well maintained with amazing amenities. The pool is a showstopper. My friend and I stayed there and relaxed all day going from pool to sauna and back to pool again. Loved the pool being indoors. It was insanely hot and humid outside! To top it off we had the pool all to ourselves!! :) With this hotel being under a year old, the staff do a great job keeping it extremely clean 24/7. Last but most definitely NOT least.... OUR ROOM! We were up on the 10th floor and had an amazing view of the buildings surrounding us. The room was very spacious with apartment style amenities. Anytime we requested anything, hotel staff would show up within 5 minutes, we didn't have to wait very long. Room service was fast as well and only took 15 minutes to be at our door every time we ordered something. Loved how isolated the sound was in our room. We had the music on very loud at some points throughout our stay and no one called to complain. It was nice to not hear the people next to us either :-p I can't think of one thing that I didn't like about staying at this hotel. I LOVED every part of my stay and the next time I plan on being in Brisbane I will definitely be staying at this place. Almost forgot to mention the concierge here, I forgot his name, he was so attentive to any of our excursion needs as well as any dinner plans that we wanted to make. He was amazing!! We had some excursion cancellations that happened and he was able to find us some other fun things to do and booked it for us within minutes. Super friendly and helpful! I am a FAN. ;-)
