Visited this facility while I was on vacation here and was in a convenient location near my hotel. They had a deal for new students with 5 classes for $59 and they lasts for 30 days. It's honestly a steal if you would like to try them out. The facility was clean and nice, it had showers and a place to hang your bags. The hot room was spacious and clean as well. I loved the big windows and it really opened up the space! Music playing in the lobby would've been nice, but that's definitely not a big deal. I signed in and took a Hot Pilates class with Eddie, I believe. He was kind and helped me sign in. He was a great instructor as well. He did a good job of pumping us up. As I mentioned, Hot Pilates was the first class I took. I was a bit taken aback with how the class was more like HIIT than Pilates. Given, the description did said Pilates was combined with HIIT, but I felt that there were no Pilates principles incorporated at all. Maybe I'm just picky and like to stick with Classical Pilates, but many of the exercises we did went against Pilates principles. We did many sets of burpees, but they are really bad for your alignment (especially against Pilates principles). I am currently training to get my Pilates Teacher Training Certificate and wanted to try out how Mat Pilates would be different in a 'Hot' setting, but I wasn't really able to do that given we only did two types of Pilates exercises. Afterward, I was slightly upset that it wasn't what I was expected since the word 'Pilates' was in the class title. I wasn't able to take anymore classes on my trip due to how sore I was after. That was on my part as I pushed myself too hard in this class, given I do less intense workouts to align with my severe asthma. So, I truly didn't get to experience a variety of classes that I wished. I do believe that the Hot Yoga would've been great and that the facility is nice. If you are expecting the Pilates to be similar to the reformer or Mat Pilates, expect something different. But if you want a really good workout I say go for it! read more

Good vibes, friendly smiles and hot classes! The team at Breathe is an eclectic bunch of instructors who are devoted to their patrons. My favorites are yoga classes with Mike and hot pilates classes with Andrea and Vanessa. All three have great music and get me drenched! The classes are similar with different instructors but each adds their individual flavor to make it fun. They have a summer special of 30 classes for $390 dollars, which is a steal. Amazing place to go and get your sweat on! Mamas listen up- you can do this! When I decided to have my # 2 (baby) I had to take a break from certain workouts. While I was pregnant I reached out to Victoria to see if she would help get me back in shape postpartum and she was beyond supportive. This is truly a community. I kept in contact with Victoria and when I was mentally ready (plus doctor's approval) to start trying she came to the rescue. I ended up taking several different type of classes before making my way back to Hot Pilates and they were worth it (for some of us Pilates lovers who have sworn off yoga- try Breathe Sculpt - trust me it's worth it and only a couple of them yoga moves are thrown into the mix- the tolerable ones- hahahaha). Suggestion- take one to three personal sessions with one of the trainers if your postpartum or have any major injuries/concerns/questions. If you're watching your budget show up 20 minutes or so before class (or hang around afterwards) and ask for help with modifications. read more

Pros: One of the few hot yoga studios that actually has showers!!! Great location with lots of parking near Whole Foods/Denny Park, although if you get here before 6p.m. or on a Saturday you do have to pay for parking. The staff were all super friendly & I liked the instructor and thought the class was good. Love the locker rooms & bathroom, and am grateful they have a bathroom in the same building. The studio is also super clean & doesn't smell at all. Cons: Not as hot as I'm used to. More like warm than hot. I'm used to studios where it doesn't matter where you stand (back or front), it is insanely hot everywhere. They don't have Power yoga at this studio, which is my favorite. Although I felt sore from the stretching after class, I didn't feel like I'd had a cardio workout at all. Overall, I liked it though and am planning on going back =) Oh and they also sell food/ice cream at this yoga studio. read more

I have been going to Breathe for about a year, and I absolutely love it! I do a combination of the yoga and Pilates classes. The teachers are all really fun and motivating, and facilitate a nice community within the studio. That aspect has been a really nice change from just going to the gym where it's hard to socialize and make new friends. The price for the monthly membership is really reasonable. Another really nice thing is that if you have the membership or punch cards, you can go to any of the 3 locations (Belltown, Capital Hill, or West Seattle). The workouts are all challenging and really worthwhile. I've definitely gotten stronger from the workouts, but what's been more important is how my posture muscles have improved. With regular yoga and Pilates classes, I'm in a lot less pain than when I was just working out at the gym or running. At first I had been intimidated by the heated room, but it helps warm my muscles and makes yoga (and burning calories) easier. I just make sure to always bring a 32oz water bottle with electrolytes in it. If you're looking for a new gym or yoga and Pilates studio in Seattle, I highly recommend Breathe! read more

I've been going to Breathe Hot Yoga for about 2.5 years and am still loving it! I did Bikram 60 for most of my first 1.5 years and gradually began doing more and more Hot Pilates. Thanks to Breathe I am a regular attendee. I go about 5x a week now. This location has some pretty awesome things going for it: 1. Parking is almost never an issue and is relatively cheap (costs me about $2 each time) 2. Mike is usually handling the front desk, and Mike is fucking awesome. 3. If you get a spot near the back, you'll feel a bit of cool air coming in from outside 4. The area is a wonderful part of downtown Seattle. I've been to a few hot yoga studios over the years but my sensitive sense of smell always picked up scent of sweat and stale air or of the floor cleaner. This studio is an exception. At the beginning of each class, there's hardly any smell. They do air out the studio between classes. That alone is worth 10 stars! The instructors are also great, Seth, Mike both give very clear and inspiring instructions throughout class. Overall, great studio, huge windows and a lot of different classes.If you don't want to be toasted under 3 heaters, the instructor also will point out the cooler spots when you sign up. read more

I went here for close to three months. And I can say that most of the teachers here are wonderful, Kathleen, Ryan, John, and Taryn are all top notch instructors with lots of knowledge to share. My problems with this studio are beyond their control. Breathe studios in Capitol Hill and in the Denny Triangle location are very clean and well maintained. They are both large enough to fit busier classes with ease. These classes are not as hot as other hot yoga places which I appreciate. There is no music here and not much of a community feel. This may be because these studios are still new but I do wish there was more of that. I had an issue with an instructor who told me to "give up" while trying to hold a challenging pose. I contacted the owner with my concern and there was no reply. It was then when I realized why there is no community here. I feel like they could work on the full spectrum of yoga instead of just the "work-out" part. I wish Breathe the best and hope they ditch their sterile vibe. read more

I hate heat. I hate to sweat. I hate to work out. I hate other people's sweat/smell. I hate bacteria. I hate militant instructors and today was my 20th consecutive day at Breathe. Any one reading this would wonder, "what the hell are you doing in Hot Yoga?" Answer: I like to eat. I hate having a spare tire/muffin top. I love that Breathe is clean*. I love that the floors are anti-bacterial. I love that the heat range in the room allows a beginner the opportunity to focus on the poses vs trying to survive the heat. I love that the instructors are well balanced in knowing when to correct and when to push without being militant. Most of all I love that this all allows a person to progress at her (my) own pace. *It's clean, no really it is. On day 16th, I got there early, and entered the hot room. As I staked out my spot and unrolled my yoga mat, I Clorox-wiped the floor before it. (Yes I am THAT person.) Lo and behold, my Clorox wipe was clean. It wasn't gray, it was surprisingly white. On my 16th day, I practiced through 90 minutes of hot yoga with a slight smirk on my face. On my 20th day I find that - I sleep better, I work better, I eat better, my clothes fits better, and my skin is phenomenally soft. I still hate heat, I still hate to sweat, and Breathe Hot Yoga turns things I hate into things I can tolerate for my own good. Now onwards to day 21. read more

I'm writing this review with comparison to BIKRAM hot yoga studios. Hopefully this review can help other ex-Bikrams make the decision to find a hot yoga studio that isn't overpriced or completely off the map. I used to be an avid fanatic of Bikram for about a year until I realized that my expensive habit wasn't worth sacrificing grocery shopping. I stopped Bikram because I just couldn't handle their outrageous prices. The worst thing of Bikram Yoga is Mr. Bikram himself. Once a man worth looking up to, he now only caters to Hollywood celebrities, and prances around in superficial flashy jewelry and travels via private jet to only spend his money he steals from all of us hard workers. At Breathe Hot Yoga, their poses are quite comparable to Bikram. Almost all poses are the same, with the exception of switching a few poses, probably to prevent Bikram from suing them. Their yoga instructors vary, depending on how yoga-fied the teacher is. They all want you to push yourself, and some instructors do it more than others, which can either piss people off or make you grateful for their tough love motivation. Their floors are NOT carpet, unlike Bikram studios. Their floors are made with an easy-to-clean anti-bacterial flooring. They have showers, and a spacious area for changing and the studio is safe because they always lock the studio when class is in session. Also, while I've only gone to classes in the morning and noontime, they were TINY. So much space. Didn't have to worry about staring at someones crotch or my arm touching someone's arm pit. *fist pump* Maybe I'm just out of it, but I can't handle the 90 minute sessions anymore. After the sitting chair pose, I'm already counting the poses down until the blessed phrase, 'Namaste' is said before the class is done. This is where the 60 minute sessions come in. Originally meant for corporate wokers to get their hot yoga on during their break, it has become a safe haven for those who can't handle the heat for more than 90 minutes. Speaking of heat, the heat ISN'T like the bikram regular 95 degrees. It's a bit lower at Breathe, and if you want it lower, sit towards the back of the studio. I'm a heat junkie, so I always found myself at the front next to the heater. They have a good deal where you can have unlimited weekday yoga sessions before 4 and after 7:30 for CHEAP. Never seen this price before! Trick is you have to sign up minimum of 3 months. But that is probably the best deal I've ever seen. If your too broke for Bikram Yoga, but miss it so much yet have too much pride to succomb to Bikram's power, check out Breathe. Great alternative. OH! And there's free parking except on Saturdays behind the hotel. Purrrfect read more

I LOVE Breathe Hot Yoga. I have never liked to exercise before, and I have tried lots of different things. I did Bikram yoga off and on for a couple of years and liked the results but not the stinky carpet, extreme heat, and exact repetition day after day. I also found it challenging to fit the 90 minute class plus travel time into my day. A couple of months ago I started going to Breathe and it is everything I want in a yoga studio. The room is very open, clean (doesn't smell), and has big windows with a nice view. Most of the asanas are from the Bikram series but there are always little tweaks thrown in - maybe just one set of something instead of two, a new asana or two tossed into the mix, a series in a slightly different order or with a different pace. It keeps me from getting bored and I enjoy the challenge of the new postures. I also like that they offer 45, 60, and 90 minute classes. The shorter classes have fewer rests than the 90 min class so you still get a decent workout. No matter how busy my day is, I figure I can at least fit in 45 minutes. My favorite thing about Breathe is that after 2 months of classes (mostly 45 and 60 minutes) the results I am seeing in my body are as good as what I was getting at Bikram but without the suffering. I honestly look forward to class every day, which is a completely new sensation for me. My body is leaner, stronger and more flexible, my skin is clearer, my posture is better, and my energy level is up - I just feel all around happier and more fit. read more

I have regularly practiced beginning and advanced Yoga for 10 years and have experiences with many teachers and Yoga studios. I have taken more than a dozen classes at Breathe Hot Yoga in West Seattle with 4 different instructors. Pro's: 1. Very clean studio that smells REALLY GOOD. 2. Showers, coat rack and even a plastic container to keep your valuables. 3. Perfect temperature and humidity maintained by an excellent air circulation system 4. Large mirrors make it easy to see yourself and make corrections in the poses 5. Many windows letting in plenty of natural light 6. Great prices for new students at just $99 for 2 months unlimited. Con's 1. Very robotic instruction that is EXACTLY THE SAME for EVERY class regardless of the instructor. There are no variations even in the order of the poses. I do feel good every time I finish a class here. For those who like some variety of poses and enjoy receiving the uniqueness of each instructor, this studio may not provide the long term fulfillment your looking for. It is precisely this robotic, cookie cutter teaching of the same series of poses, in the same order that is creating the desire for me to try other Yoga studios. If Breathe Hot Yoga would create a variety of changing poses, perhaps even add partner poses I would rate this studio 5 stars. read more

Everything that's been said so far in the reviews is absolutely true. A very inclusive, comfortable environment with competent, encouraging teachers. I've gotten more insight about my posture, musculature, mobility, and general phisiology from the combined wisdom of three of Breathe's teachers than from the dozens of other yoga instructors I've had in my life. I agree with the thought that Breathe is for folks who "like hot yoga but don't like being directed by Nazi Bikram teachers!" I can make each practice my own without the stress of worrying about being called out if I adjust my shorts during a pose! No stinky rug! No stinky rug! The anti-microbial non-skid floors are awesome. Showers! The heat gradient options are great for others (I like it at 100). Overheard in the Breathe lockerroom: "I really love this place. I still have eight class credits at [another yoga studio], but why bother when I can come here?" read more

I am a hot yoga junkie and I found this great yoga studio. I love Mike as an instructor. I attended the hot power vinyasa, breathe hot and the hot pilates. Not a fan of the breathe hot that focuses more on poses. But I have enjoyed all power yoga classes I have been too. This studio does not get as crowded as the other yoga studios in the neighborhood. And guess what--new members can get Groupon that gives you 20 classes for 70$. Not worth missing! read more

LOVE Breathe Hot Yoga! I mean LOOOOOVE!!! I'm not an exerciser. My elliptical is a lovely clothes rack. When it rains I won't go walking and come up with excuses as to why I can't (might catch a chill! Might get sick! Might slip and fall! Man I sound old!!!) I'm in my early 40's and have a regular slim build. I don't NEED to exercise. But BREATHE makes me want to! BREATHE's SLU studio is clean, temp zone controlled, has towel service, showers, water fountain to fill up your water bottle, and most importantly has fabulous instructors. If you want a gong and spiritual mantras, I'd look somewhere else. But if you want an AMAZING studio with excellent instructors, EVERY POSSIBLE STUDENT LEVEL (the newbies get tons of support and help) and a GREAT personal hot yoga experience, you need to sign up and you need to do it now. And at 2 weeks of 10 visits for $25 you can't lose. I started because one of their deals was good and I didn't want to invest when I wasn't sure I would like it. Now I'm about to sign up to auto pay unlimited because I want to go EVERY DAY. Love! Love! Love! Love! Love! Breathe Hot Yoga. And it never rains in the studio, so I have no excuses! I looked all over town to find a hot yoga studio that was a little less hot than the 105 degree Bikram studios. I love hot yoga and feel like I get such great benefits from it but the Bikram studios are too hot and leave me with a headache. After trying out 5 different yoga studios and nearly giving up, I found Amber's studio Breathe Yoga. At Breathe Yoga you can place your yoga mat in the heat zone that is perfect for you anywhere from Bikram temperature at the front to barely warm temperature at the back. The studio is very nice and clean and located on the corner with a lot of windows. Plus, the prices are some of the best in town. They offer an introductory 10 classes for $25 (good for two weeks). I signed up for a ten pack right after (they also offer 25% off class packages for new members). Check it out, you will love it! read more

Breathe Hot Yoga is the best hot yoga studio around! Here are all of the things I love about it! #1) Radiant Heat - it is just a cleaner, nicer source of heat! You still sweat, and it's still hot, but you can choose different places in the room the stand depending on how HOT you want to be. You can focus on stretching instead of dying! #2) Location - convenient location, great parking, mostly free, sometimes a couple of bucks, but overall great for a downtown location. #3) Amber and all of the instructors - Amber, the owner, teaches 80% of the time, and she's amazing, and all of the instructors are nice and helpful and encouraging. I've been doing hot yoga, at several studios over the past 2 years, and I feel like I learned the most since I started coming here #4) The Floor/Building - the floor is awesome! It's antibacterial, and non slip, not carpet, not stinky! and everything is clean and fresh and nice and light and spacious! Overall, it is a great place for beginners and advanced yogis too! It is a very comfortable and non-threatening environment. I love that I get a great 90 minute cardio and stretching workout, without absolutely dying from the forced gas heat. I never knew it was possible, but truely, you can focus much more on your stretching when you aren't stressing out about DYING!!! read more

This is a great studio. Big, clean, has good instructors and friendly staff. As a student who's new to Hot Yoga, Carlee gave me a lot of attention in class, and made sure that I did the poses correctly, so I strech my body in the right way. She is the best yoga teacher I've ever had!! The fact that they have a huge studio and not over crowded room enables the attention to the individual student. I love it!! I've been recommending friends to go there, and this is such a positive experience that it's worth a 5 star comment on Yelp! PS. I can't believe I checked into Breathe Hot Yoga yesterday for my 30th time! When I saw this I realized I had to write an update to my previous reviews. Breathe Hot Yoga is a VERY clean and cheery studio with large locker rooms, complete with showers. The heat in the first three rows is HOT, and even hotter if you can snag a spot under one of the heaters. The instructors are friendly and truly want to help make your experience great. So as you can see, Breathe Hot Yoga has everything you need, the rest is up to you. I have come to realize, since my last review, that committing to one studio really helps your yoga practice. All of the jumping around to snag intro specials might save you money, but it won't give you the consistency and comfortability you need to enjoy your practice. The biggest complaint I had at first was the difference between the instructors. What you really need to do is go with an open mind and try out the different instructors. Their schedules are listed on the website, so figure out which ones you prefer. The owner, Amber, just celebrated Breathe's one year anniversary! So, give this (relatively) new yoga studio a chance, you will be more than pleasantly surprised. read more

After several hot yoga classes I've decided I'm not the hugest fan of the practice. I appreciate some aspects of it but its just not for me. The same sequences of poses every single time gets old--and this seems to go for all hot yoga studios. In other yoga practices there's more variability with each class. However, if you want to do hot yoga, this is an excellent studio. Gina is super knowledgble, challenging, and supportive of your practice whether you're a first timer or a regular practitioner. She is the only instructor in the 10 classes I've been to that occasionally switches one or two things up, which I loved. I highly recommend going to her classes. The bright light of the studio is nice as is the cleanliness of both the studio and changing rooms. read more

I finally found it - a great, consistent, hot yoga studio! I've been trying to find a regular hot yoga studio, and after my tasty-but-very-fatty mac and cheese challenge, I stepped up my game to get back in shape. I love working out, but adding yoga to the mix makes my workouts so much more powerful and my muscle tone much more defined (especially in the core). Reasons I love Breathe Hot Yoga: 1. The room is super big, clean, and well lit - enough said 2. Zoned heating - what can I say, some days I can take the heat, some days I need to get out of the kitchen 3. Instructors help you grow - they make corrections but genuinely because they want to help you get better at your practice, not just being a yoga nazi 4. Teaching method is consistent with all instructors - Even though each instructor has their own way of teaching, the method is consistent so I feel like I'm growing in my practice. 5. Good times / different lengths - some days I have more time than others, so the fact they have 45 min, 60 min, and 90 min classes is really helpful for me Only thing is - hot yoga is expensive! Yikes! But really, all studios are expensive so you might as well be paying for a good one. And this one is a winner! read more

I may be jumping the gun by writing a review after just one class, but I am so excited I found this place. I am a newbie to yoga, and really being serious about fitness itself, but really wanted to try hot yoga after hearing so much about it. The studio is in a good location, within a mile of my house so I get a little walk in as well. It is large, well lit and very very clean. I was greeting by Gina, who ended up being the instructor for the 45 minute class I took. She was very sweet and welcoming despite me being totally green. The locker room area is clean and organized with two showers (though I didnt use one). They lock the doors during class so all of your stuff is safe too, which is nice. They also have weights and a warm up area you can use 30 minutes before your class which is a plus. The class itself was great. At first I wasnt sure if I would like it when I felt the heat of the room, but it really isnt that hot. After a few minutes I adjusted to it and it was actually really comfortable. From their website, it isnt as hot as more traditional hot yoga places, but for me it was perfect - definately a lot warmer than normal but not to the point where I was suffocating. You can adjust your mat in different areas of the room to get different levels of heat too which is nice. Gina was so great. Even though it was a group class and she couldnt walk through everything in detail for me, she gave me great pointers and demonstrated some of the more detailed poses for me, and pointed out which other students had it right so I could peek over and try and mimic their movements. She was very relaxing and not too serious about it - I didnt feel intimidated at all when I couldnt do something all the way or for as long as some other students. I felt very much at home. The other students are great too, very welcoming as well. One girl noticed I was new and invited me to sit next to her to learn. Very cool vibe from this place, and you cant beat their new student deal of 10 classes for $25 to get you started. Ill be going back tomorrow! Already hooked. Love this place. I've been to a few other hot yoga places around town and love how clean and non-smelly this is. There has always been plenty of room and really attentive instructors. I had a class with Amber this week and she went around individually and answered questions and adjusted our positions as we did the series. Great studio! Clean, no smell and they offer both hot pilates and yoga! I am normally a gym rat with cardio and weights and usually bored with yoga, until I took a class from Amber. Pros: Amber is amazing as an instructor. Her class is smooth and you defiantly leave feeling like you had a workout. My brain has no time to wander as you move from pose to pose and like the intensity. Cons: Not all instructors are the same, so find who will push and motivate you to be better. read more

This is my favorite yoga studio in Seattle. Their "breathe" course is a variation of Bikram, but a bit cooler temperature and slightly different series of asanas/poses.You get a great workout, stress relief, and you do not feel as wiped out as traditional Bikram. Of course they also offer hot Pilates and Bikram classes so check the schedule before you come. Facilities are sterile and the rooms don't smell musty like many other hot yoga places. There are plenty of showers and space in changing rooms as well. The staff are great and really make the effort to maximize each student's potential, whether you are an experienced yogi or just starting out. I started out unable to touch my toes and suffered chronic back pain but after a year of classes I have literally never been healthier! Oh and i lost 10 lbs without dieting! read more

So... it's only been a week, but I must say I'm a bit of a hot yoga junkie I think. I've taken two more classes and am heading back tomorrow... The highlight for me was last night - being able to grab my right foot in the bow pose. I think the last time I was able to reach my foot was in 1984... yep - it's been that long. Everyone who works at Breathe has been incredibly friendly and helpful and with any business it's the customer service which will bring you back. The intructors are very good and will take the time to get to know you if you want them to. The class itself is very enegrizing, and the room has graduated heat, so the front is hot the the back is warm. I would recommend it to beginners like myself, or to more advanced folks. I really wish they were closer to where i live, i feel like i would go there everyday. read more

The new yoga studio called Breathe is a breath of fresh air. The yoga room is huge, and clean and stately. The trip from Greenwood is really easy, just hop on Aurora and you are there in 15 minutes. No more smelly carpet, no more running out of hot water in the showers. The teachers are excellent, and the owner Amber is one of my favorite teachers. I recommend it. read more

Breathe Hot Yoga Rocks!!!!! I live in West Seattle and have bounced around to a few nearby studios. Breathe, by far, is the best and I am sticking with it. I was hesitant to drive from West Seattle since there is a studio in walking distance down the street from where I live but after checking out Breathe for past month, I've decided it's well worth the drive.. which isn't so bad if you take 99. The parking may be daunting at first, so if it is your first time go at least 20 - 30 minutes early to figure it all out. There are a few options for you depending on what time and day you go. The helpful staff will gladly explain to you. The teachers are all very experienced and helpful. I love the fact that they help you with your poses when you are doing it wrong in a caring and non invasive approach. Yoga is their passion and it is apparent. The studio itself is brilliant. Radiant Heat. Clean. Huge. Natural Light. I'm in love and addicted!! The owners, Amber & Ross have been in the yoga business for awhile and have done a beautiful job with this new studio. read more

I tried this studio once but I'm not sure if I'll be going back. On the plus side, there are floors vs. carpet which I prefer for Bikram, as mentioned in other reviews, the changing rooms are quite roomy. I also like that they have good, healthy frozen food for sale in the lobby if you are famished when you are done. The instructor, however was a bit loose with his instruction and I felt he didn't strike the right balance between facilitator and coach - I didn't feel like he made me want to do better. The zone heating is a good idea, but I was somewhat close to the windows and got quite a chill as well as a lot of road noise which made it difficult to practice. I felt like there also needs to be some kind of window covering on the long wall of windows. read more
