I have been part of this studio for over a year now and recently completed the 200-hr yoga teacher training. As a physical therapist, I am very picky about the quality of instruction at any studio or class I attend, and it is very hard to find good instructors. The ones at Breathe are a good bunch! Breathe is amazing. As a student here from the very beginning, I've appreciated how it has continued to only get better, providing incredible classes for all skill levels. I especially appreciated the classes with an emphasis on therapeutic yoga, and how thoughtful Francesca always was to make sure that if someone was having trouble with a certain position, she could give them variations. I've seen older people or people with injuries or with little experience in the same class with other yoga teachers and everybody felt like they were acknowledged and received what they needed. I especially loved it while working out, because at the end of the week I could feel every part of my body and realize where I was tight or maybe more likely to be injured if I pushed harder, while simultaneously relaxing those parts and strengthening others. I have always wanted to try yoga, but was intimidated by the complicated poses and strength required. Then I read an article about Breathe Ojai. They have a class for larger bodies (like mine) and I'd never been so excited. Lisa was a dream and absolutely cognizant of any limitations the group might have. As it happens, there are few... she is able to guide us through any poses that I thought were too complicated or too strenuous for me. I have since tried other classes with Sarah and Francesca and just last night I tried the Candlelight Restorative class with Nina. It was absolutely luxurious! I always feel more than welcome here... more like embraced and even on the days I feel like I'm dragging myself in, I end up skipping with energy and cheer on the way out. I am thrilled that Breathe Ojai has opened in this little town. The instructors are knowledgeable, experienced, and sensitive to the needs of every practitioner who walks through the door. I especially appreciate the therapeutic classes offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Francesca is a yoga therapist and accommodates each student and his/her/their individual needs. That's crucial to my old bag of bones with some of the injuries I've had and glitches in my system. I had my bachelorette in Ojai and wanted to host a sound bath for my guests. I emailed a bunch of places on a Sunday night, not expecting a response any time soon, and heard back from Francesca almost immediately, saying she would be able to make it work. And she did! I have been a yoga practitioner as both a student and teacher for a number of years. Since the pandemic, I have not taken a class in a yoga studio. Breathe Ojai was the perfect studio to reinstate my personal practice. Francesca, her precious loving dog, and fellow students were all so welcoming.
