We've been to Brekenridge's Oktoberfest a few times over the years. It's a great festival, though I wouldn't say it's particularly German or traditional, but a it's a great street party with beer. Most of the beer is from Breckenridge Brewery, which isn't my favorite brewery in town, but they make a good lager. I wouldn't travel here especially for the festival, you might be disappointed, but we've happened to be in town during the festival and it's a special memory from our trip and a great way to spend an afternoon exploring Main Street. My favorite part of the festival is the traditional beer steins. Tip: if you want to attend and get your commemorative ceramic stein, preorder it from the website. We've been going to Oktoberfest for more than 20 years. The last few years have been lackluster at best. Today (Friday) the event started at 2. By 3:20 they were out of Oktoberfest beer. Tomorrow they will have Paulaner, but only in cans. I don't think we will bother. read more

You will be sorely disappointed if you are going to this venue for German beer and food. The bar isn't high enough to attract people from Denver, and any wealthy person is going to just fly to Germany. If you are going to this venue to get drunk and party with friends who live local, can't really complain. read more

The idiots who work at the beer tents can't seem to figure out how to pour a beer. They are 50% beer and 50% foam. By the time you get through the beer line your beer is gone and time to get in line again. Also, they clearly did t think logistics here. read more

I am becoming a professional when it comes to participating in Oktoberfest. I don't know if it's the epic lederhosen, the collectable steins, the traditional chicken dance (is that a german song?) or just the event in its entirety, but I am hooked! My parents have frequented the Downtown Denver celebration since I was a kid. So I grew up on brats and never had the opportunity to say no to sauerkraut. This year, however, was my first time celebrating in Breckenridge. I don't think there is ever a bad time to visit Breck but this weekend will now be one of my favorite times of year to drop in. Lodging wasn't over priced if you plan ahead, there weren't TOO many people, and it was an all around good time. The leaves were also changing so it was a perfect time for hiking and spending time out on the lake so you could burn off all of those beer calories while enjoying the beautiful fall colors. All of Main St. was closed to provide plenty of room for vendors. There were three different stages with bands playing that took different breaks, so there was never a lull in the dance scene. Surprisingly, the people were a lot more mellow and less drunk than those you might see wandering the streets at Denver Oktoberfest. It was a bit of an older (and might I say more mature) crowd. They had food that catered to every kind of diet, even if you are vegetarian. They also had a wide variety of breweries participate, and even had a winery or two with free tastings! The festival started at around 10:00 a.m. and the last drinks were poured at 5:30 p.m. It was a well executed event and I will definitely be back next year. PROST! read more

Debated 3 or 4 stars. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could - fun and worthwhile visit, but they need more beer options! They had 3 Paulaner selections and 3 hard-to-find (ie there was one small almost unmarked tent) Breckenridge Brewery selections. They ran out of beer steins for sale on Sunday (and holy cow was I glad at $25 each for the 1/2 liter version) but I could still see a bunch lying around in boxes which somehow weren't for sale. Nice food options of many sorts, prices what you'd expect ($8 for a brat, $9 for cheese spaetzle). Beer was $6 per pour. Loved the German polka music. Nice vibe. Clean. Port-a-potties were non-frightening, seriously - I was actually willing to use, with real hand washing stations. We will be back next year. I'm glad I'm not a big beer drinker since those options were limited. I hope they amp that up to make it more of a draw! read more

Ever year it gets a little more packed but it is a staple for my year of deferent drinking events. The beer is a little pricey in the tents but it is a great time. My collection of mugs date back many years. There is a lot of things for the kids to do and there is a ski swap during this weekend so if you need to stock up for the winter you can do so. read more

It's odd that there are so few reviews considering the thousands of people that flock to Breck for the weekend. The crowds are monstrous on Saturday, but it's a street festival and that's part of the appeal. Music is fun, plentiful food options, roughly 5 beer choices (mostly Paulaner and Breck Brewery), lots of entertainment, plus it's September in the high country! Costumes are greatly encouraged! Prices are a little high, but it's fair considering all of the free entertainment. The lines may appear long, but they move along quickly. Beers are served in plastic cups (which speeds things along) and it's up to you to pour it in your stein (good luck with the foam). Sunday is very relaxed, with much fewer people, but be prepared for the vendors to shut down early afternoon. Don't wait until the last minute for souvenirs. My one small complaint is that I wish the real Summit County breweries were represented, but Paulaner and Breck Brewery are major sponsors so it's unlikely to change. read more

I can not believe that this event has no reviews, especially considering that has been held for YEARS. The first time I went, in 2009, was outstanding. The weather was perfect. Great people watching. Easy stein refilling. Manageable bathroom lines. Fast forward 3 years and shiz is crazy! Lines for everything were insane (with the exception of the $2 Korean Taco stand that we stopped by on more than one occassion), confusing and completely blocked traffic flow. I am all for a crazy fun packed Oktoberfest, but I think next year there needs to be more beer tents and more bathrooms. Towards the end of the day, we ended up filling our steins and using the bathrooms at a bar. Definitely still fun, but there is room for improvement. read more

So overcrowded. They sell non refundable beer tokens at the entrance without telling you they only have one beer vendor, 3 stands, and a 2 hour line for beer. The "authentic German food" consisted of pale, dried out pretzels smashed into a toaster oven for 20 seconds. YUCK! I've had better pretzels from the freezer section. Don't waste your time or money unless you enjoy standing in an hours long line for substandard food and over priced crappy beer. read more

This was our second year going to Breckenridge Oktoberfest & I don't think we will go again. The first year was fun as it was our first time to Breckenridge, the setting is beautiful & we love the town. The Oktoberfest isn't the best we've been too, prices are fair for what you would pay at an event like this, however there aren't a lot of beverage options. There was only maybe 6 different beers to choose from and only one place to get wine. I'm not a beer drinking, but my husband is. Would be nice to have other options to drink for those non beer drinkers! Would also like to see a bigger stage area and more seating. Would be nice to have a bigger under cover tent to get out of the sun! Not a lot of places to just sit and enjoy food and beer! read more
