Beware. Breedon Law firm takes large retainer fees and refuses to refund clients money once fired for misrepresentation. Misrepresentation is an understatement. This firm is negligent, unorganized and unethical. We would compare them to cost cutters and fast food. Mellissa made countless errors with paperwork that cost our family months and months of time away from our baby. Mellissa's communication was very poor with wait times as long as 9 days for a response to a question via email. Breedon has a large turnover for lawyers. During the 8 months that we were represented our case was moved to 3 different lawyers. Mr. Breedon refused refunding our very large retainer and encouraged our family to contact the board When we fired his firm today for dropping another ball in our case. He's fearless and untouchable!!! Unfeeling is more like it. Soulless is another word that comes to mind. They have a bad reputation among other firms as well. Namely for refusing to give clients itemized billing times once they are fired. A practice we called after firing them said " Breedon law firm? Say no more!!!!" They are literally LOW down and dirty! I had a terrible experience with Melissa. It's unfortunate that I had to pay thousands of dollars for inexperience and ineptitude. I was told not to speak at the hearing because "they already like you", even though what was being said on record was not true. I had to write to County Clerk as I never received court paperwork. They were more than happy to take a very large retainers upfront but then proceeded to be completely negligent in every area of your case. They took 8,000$ from me and multiple precious months with my newborn with nothing to show. Breeden had my case for 6 months and did virtually nothing with it. Large mistakes from horrible legal advice prolonging your case, expired paperwork being sent, attorneys are so busy they don't know the details of your case, no response for up to 9 days at a time and one person telling you they are on top of things while another's asks you if you have personally handled what they were paid for. They let other law offices walk all over them and do nothing care about properly representing you. Communication was poor, and it often felt like our concerns weren't taken seriously. During our interactions, it honestly felt like the attorney was on the opposing side. The questions she asked came across as if she was challenging us instead of advocating for us, which made us feel unsupported. We were initially told they could fight for us, but after taking our payment, they said they couldn't help. On top of that, the front desk staff was rude and even hung up on us. I requested a consultation with a specific attorney that I thought worked there; but this attorney worked at another firm. Breeden never admitted this and set up a phone consult with another lawyer. As we proceeded thru the session I asked when I could speak with my preferred lawyer. It was only then that it was admitted that my preferred lawyer didn't work there. Great family practice that is in the community and helps those family's during tough times

I would not recommend. I was a little iffy about getting them after the consultation because of the price but I decided to go with them because of the case, I signed the agreement and paid the retainer fee on a Thursday. I reached out to them via email on Thursday to let them know this along with some questions, sent a text to the attorney on Friday, and sent another email on Monday because of a first discovery order which have an deadline and I did not receive a response to any email or text neither a call from the attorney.At this point I was frustrated and there's a 7day grace period for a refund so on Tuesday I reached out to the Client Care Coordinator and asked for a refund. Moments after I asked for a refund then of course they decided to send me emails and phone calls but I said I just wanted my refund. And somehow they cut $200 from my refund saying it "cover the work completed so far." What work could have been done since I signed the agreement when I didn't talk to any one since then and no one could return my calls. So I asked for an invoice and they couldn't give me one, so I emailed the attorney to ask for details on what work she have done that is worth $200 and still couldn't reply to that. Stay away from this law firm, they lack communication and they do not stand behind their words and try to take your money even when they have a "7 day grace period." read more

May be a long read but if you're considering hiring this firm it will be worth reading so it doesn't happen to you: Hiring the Breeden Law Firm hurt us more than helped us and I hope whoever is seeking a family law attorney reads in entirely before considering hiring this firm; and then looks elseware. We hired the Breeden Law Firm in July 21' to help with getting custody of our son as he was having issues living with his mom and wanted to come live with us. Mr. Breeden and his firm thought we would have appropriate grounds to file for emergency custody at the time. We met with an assistant attorney who went over our case and continued with letting us know their policies, how they planned to work for us and pricing. Although it was a bit out of our price range, the firm gave us great confidence in them and that they would help us fight for our son. Our emergency hearing was dismissed and we had a red calendar date scheduled for January 2022. By the time December came around they had already charged us for $5,000 worth of work leaving a little over $2,300 in retainer and had requested $4,000 more to continue with our case to fight the opposing counsel on discovery & what he thought was a full day we would need to be in court. I paid him what he requested as we were a month away from our scheduled court date but let him know I could not pay anymore towards this case as we have exhausted our savings for this and was reassured that we should be able to finish this with what we had. We scheduled our appointment to prepare for our hearing with our attorney a week prior and were all set to present our case to the judge when unfortunately a superior judge passed away in the county and his service was scheduled for our court date- canceling court for the day and postponing our case. Our case was moved to April & we were very fortunate to get this date as they didn't have anything else until the end of summer of 2022. Not even two days after we found out that we wouldn't have court in January and going through the hearing prep with our attorney we received another bill for January stating they would need another $3,000 for the trial. At this point I was beyond aggravated because we were all set and prepared for trial, literally just in days prior going through our case and no mention of any more money was ever said and having already spent over double digits for their representation it didn't make sense to me. The opposing party requested mediation so we decided to hold off on paying any more money to the firm until after mediation. I followed up with our attorney on 3/6 and let him know there was no resolution in mediation and that we were still set to have court on April 6th and did not hear back from him. On March 12th Johnathan emailed us letting us know that the Attorney at his firm that was representing us the past few months would be leaving his firm and if we wanted we could follow him or pay him $4,000 more to try the case even though they mentioned no need of anymore money when we were ready to present our case January 19th. At this time I felt so let down by this firm and sent an email explaining my reasons why I didn't feel they had done their job that they were hired to do. Looking back through my receipts the law firm charges for each communication with THEIR CLIENT and I have THOUSANDS of dollars wrapped up in charges just to communicate with them about things that they needed for our case. Thousands of dollars that could have been used to actually represent their client and do the job they were hired for. Jonathan basically let me know that the work they had done was the work they were paid to do and that he will not work for free and that we were welcome to come pick up our case file. Flabbergasted because I never asked him to work for free, I asked him to do the job I paid him plenty of money to do. He did not show interest or importance in representing us or our son. If I could give 0 stars I wish I could. $12,000 worth of payment for them to file, type up and print a case file with no representation in front of a judge. Shame. This hurt my family MORE than when we needed assistance in finding someone to help us get our kid from a bad situation. We are now left to defend ourselves and pray the courts will side with our son. Mr. Breeden helped my husband and I through a child custody case. If you are looking for a high quality, caring and compassionate lawyer I highly recommend using him. He works with you and cares very much about the well being of children. He listens and uses all the details you give him to complete your case. He will fight for what is RIGHT and JUST in family court. Understanding there are 2 sides to every case and just because you want to fight in court doesn't always mean you have a good case or enough evidence to win the case, he will do his best. Breeden Law did not help me at all and actually hurt my case. He talked a big game when we met for consultation, which I know now was only to get me to sign the agreement to get my money. Everything he said went the opposite way in court and he acted like he did not know what to say when the opposing attorney brought their case forward, he just stayed quite when there was a lot that could have been said to strengthen my case. He was very confident during the consultation and then was passive in the court room. I have worked with many attorneys over the years and this was a very disappointing experience in my opinion. This man and his team completely botched my divorce. His understanding of real estate ownership and his neglect in putting together a comprehensive and accurate divorce agreement coast me 10750 Dollars. Unless you have money to waste or only have a very very easy case, do not hire this man. He is known to be a bull dog but when facing his counterpart in court he is more a mouse than a bull dog. He will reply to your e-mail (that he will charge you for), file the paperwork on time. But he will sink you more than he will defend you in court. Really good sales pitch. Have no compassion for their cases or their clients. My mom paid an absorbent amount of money to the law firm. Holly King promised me she could get my custody back from CPS in a timely manner, and with the amount of money that she had to work with. She said that she deals with these types of cases, and is aware how CPS works. For our first meeting, she showed up 20 minutes late. She never returned phone calls to the point I had to call the para-legals to communicate with her. She showed up late to court, and lied to me on three occasions. Not only did she not assist in my case, she made it much worse. After the last meeting in court, I was embarrassed to have her represent me. Even when I asked her to discharge herself from my case, she failed to accomplish that as well. If you would like to be scammed, definitely hire this firm.
