I love the shirts, but they are extremely oversized. I ordered xl for the first two and one of them is in reality an xxxl, while the other one is in reality a xxl. So, for the third shirt, i ordered a large, and it fits perfectly--and I'm getting the first two taken up at my seamstress. The shirts are all gorgeous, with a very durable, hefty fabric, but quite expensive, like all of Castaway's products. I doubt that the inconsistency in sizing is uniform throughout Castaway clothing, but probably confined to their madras clothing, which is made in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, as I have found wild inconsistency in madras shirts from another retailer. I cannot say that for sure, however, as I have no other items from Castaway. Last note: each of my shirts are long-sleeved, and the fabric is so thick they are too hot to wear on a very hot day.

However this fall I was pleasantly surprised to find that Faherty Brand was open later in the evening . They have some great quality sweaters and other wool items . I chose a Baja hoodie to purchase but when I tried to pay for my $200 hoodie with cash I was informed that they usually don't accept cash . This wasn't a matter of not having change because I had the exact amount on me .. the store policy is no cash allowed !!! First of all it's not only s federal law to not discriminate against Cash buyers but it has also been a Massachusetts state law since 1978 that no retailer "shall discriminate against a cash buyer by requiring the use of credit." After speaking with the salesperson for a few minutes and explaining that all I had on me was cash she decided to make an exception. While I was pleased that I could purchase my item I was also annoyed that I was treated as an annoyance for trying to pay for an item with two crisp $100 bills .. this is discriminatory in so many ways especially since there's s large portion of people who either don't want to use credit or debit cards or those less fortunate who may not have a bank account in the first place .. I urge this business to rethink their policy ..

The bottom floor is basically an unfinished basement, with rooms dedicated to certain items, especially furniture. One room was selling used books, and it has as many books as some small libraries. They had local product as well, and my wife picked up a hardly used scarf. The hallways are very tight, allowing only two people to pass when going sideways, and the staircases are one person-at-a-time. No chance for wheelchairs or strollers. Because it is so hard to move around, it was appreciated that each floor had their own cashier. I didn't see any long lines to checkout, and there were volunteers everyone, keeping things running. The prices do seem very knowledgable...you are not going to find any crazy bargains because the 'purchasing' department didn't understand the worth of some products. It is located in a very touristy area, so bargaining attempts by non-residents must happen once in a while. There was a funny sign stating that bargaining was insisted, the pricer would agree to give the discount but first increase the price by the same amount. Hopefully, everybody gets the joke.
