It could have been my disappointed countenance, a personal conviction or a little bit of both but she extended an exceedingly deeper discount. It may be perceived as only a few dollar savings but I consider it a special gift and warm island welcome.

I inquired where on the digital receipt (no hard copy receipts were offered) did it state that. There was no sign in the store with return policies either. The sales person responded with a snarky tone 'that usually all sales items are returnable'. I returned the item and will never shop there again. Maybe they cater to different type of customer and I didn't appear to fit that mold.

Totally separate entrance around the side and down the shabby stairs. They do nothing to enhance the ambiance down there, but if you take the time to sort through what they have you could find that surprise item that you can't find anywhere else for half the price or even less. But back upstairs, they have everything from vacation wear to formal wear. From every season, to outdoor sports, to accessories. If you like that New England look the MA Islands are so famous for, this is where you can find it. Most often when we come here we shop in both stores. Sometimes we climb back and forth trying to decide if we like the deal downstairs more than the full priced item upstairs. You should try it when in Vineyard Haven. Great way to waste time waiting for the Ferry!

Some things might seem pricy, but it's cause they're rare finds, and the owners put a lot of work into sourcing neat stuff, so they have to put their own time into searching and purchasing goods. Compared to plenty of other antique stores, this place has great bargains! There's plenty of things in all price ranges, so I we always leave the store satisfied with our purchases, and excited to see what they have next time we visit! We hope the store stays around a long time so we can keep visiting it for many summer vacations to come!

A fake surf shop run and owned by non surfers that morphed into a clothing store. Anyone who surfs knows better than to spend their money on the overpriced stock this store carries. Better off going to Waterbrothers or some other establishment that's owned by a surfer. If you want to "look" like a stereotypical braindead surfer wannabee, this is the place for you. Lots of rags and trinkets for the clueless. read more

The guy here was super helpful in finding me the right duffle bag. He pulled out all the bags he had to let me compare and we had to pull out multiple from the packaging and lay them all out next to each other. But I found exactly what I wanted, a last season bag they only had two left in. He was really helpful. read more

I love the shirts, but they are extremely oversized. I ordered xl for the first two and one of them is in reality an xxxl, while the other one is in reality a xxl. So, for the third shirt, i ordered a large, and it fits perfectly--and I'm getting the first two taken up at my seamstress. The shirts are all gorgeous, with a very durable, hefty fabric, but quite expensive, like all of Castaway's products. I doubt that the inconsistency in sizing is uniform throughout Castaway clothing, but probably confined to their madras clothing, which is made in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, as I have found wild inconsistency in madras shirts from another retailer. I cannot say that for sure, however, as I have no other items from Castaway. Last note: each of my shirts are long-sleeved, and the fabric is so thick they are too hot to wear on a very hot day.

The shop is packed to the gills with shoes, tops, dresses, coats, jewelry, menswear, and more. They also carry a variety of sizes, which makes for an inclusive experience not usually found at vintage shops. I found the cutest linen pants for about $20 in the consignment section, and it's definitely one of my best finds this summer. Everything in the shop ranges from 10-100 USD (ish), so in terms of Nantucket pricing, it's a pretty good deal. Service is warm and friendly, we love Marcella, the knowledgeable clerk who assists us every time we go. She is a delight to chat with! This hidden gem is absolutely worth adding to your Nantucket adventures!

The men's clothing section was extremely well stocked while it appeared to me that the women's clothing was also thoughtfully chosen. The owner, Judy Hartford is amazing and is really informative about the shop and the attire on display. Judy helped my look and select clothes to try on in a very amiable and knowledgeable way. Ms. Hartford was even nice enough to give me a free bottle for my sister. The shop also had the book On Island with poems from an islander and paintings from a local artist. Overall, the best clothing store on the island and like Dan H. said, quite possibly the best in the world
