Laurie Bujack was fantastic to work with as a planner and designer. Her work ethic is bulletproof, with the responsiveness to the changes and modifications as the design evolved, especially as the price proposals came in and there was the need to help the phases fit the budget. She was also very responsive to a few glitches that arose in the complex and timely communication, as well as tweaking needed for last minute adjustments. Laurie is a very competent project manager AND designer, for those reasons! She is a consummate professional. The only observation to recommend improvement: that our kind lead installer take moments to teach his crew about guarding the safety and treatment of more fragile perennials and the final placement of shrubs needing to be plumb/vertical...a sharp eye before accepting the final results of his workers. read more

Well I tried to buy soil... $42 a yard you would think that I would get pulverized screened soil.... nope I got weeds, huge rocks and blocks of soil... see the pic... thats what I got... that huge piece of concrete is about 12" x 8"... omg.. thats right .. there was screening or pulverizing... I would go to another place for top soil... now the reason why I gave them a 2 was that I did speak to the manager and she gave me a half off discount on my next yard... but that soil was the same as the original... I know they were short on soil but then charge less and do not say it's pulverized.... thats shameful. !!! read more

Horrible experience with Breezy Hill. Had a landscaping project done last year by a professional contractor. Chose Breezy Hill for the perennials due to proximity to my home in Salem Lakes. Spent over $1,000 on a variety of rose bushes, shrubs, etc. Landscapers planted them, installed the weed barrier, and landscaping stones as is customary last July. Everything looked great and I was a happy camper for a few months. 2026 rolls around, and nearly half the perennials that we purchased were completely dead. They did not survive the winter. I took pictures, emailed Pam at Breezy Hill to see what they could do. Here is her response: Hi Mike, Thanks for sending these pictures. As you know we do not warranty cash & carry items and actually never warranted Perennials at all. We are confident they are healthy when they leave our care since we are all gardeners here, but overwintering is our biggest challenge with our very volatile and extreme temperature fluctuations. The way to ensure best results for this is to remove all stone from their vicinity and mulch instead, which moderates and insulates temperature and moisture for our plants, much as would occur in nature with plant debris forming the mulch layer. Stone does the opposite of this causing even worse fluctuations while also cutting off oxygen and sometimes water to the roots. If there is landscape fabric under the stone that should also be removed since that makes even worse conditions for the plants, e.g. no oxygen or water to the roots, sours and compacts the soil. I'm here to help with more suggestions any time today, July 4 until 7:00, July 5 10-4:00, July 6 after about 2:00-7, July 7 9-6. My husband and I were there this afternoon planning on buying one, maybe two trees. We asked for help in the annual/perennial section. The one girl there answered our questions after going inside to google/ask our questions to someone inside. We asked another girl for help. She said she would get someone who specializes in trees since she works in Annuals/perennials. No one ever showed up. I wish we had gotten the first girl's name, I would have given her a glowing review even though trees were not her specialty. I am so disappointed since Breezy Hill has such a good reputation. read more

We bought a lot of perennials & shrubs from here last year as we moved into a new home and are completely redoing all of the landscaping. Needless to say, over the winter some of our plants appear to have died. Upon looking thru our receipts, we noticed the majority of our dead plants came from Breezy Hill and we see they aren't covered by a warranty. We honestly had better luck with the plants we picked up from Home Depot, Menards, etc. Very disappointing and we don't plan on going back. read more

I spent a significant amount of money at Breezy Hill last year--well over $1,000. Unfortunately, more than half of the perennials I purchased have not come up this season. Last year, when a few of the plants showed signs of distress just two weeks after purchase, I brought in photos and spoke with the horticulturist. Her response felt dismissive, as though my concerns weren't taken seriously. I experienced the same treatment again today. I was told, "We don't cover any of our perennials. It was a dry winter," with little acknowledgment of my prior concerns or investment. It's incredibly frustrating to feel dismissed twice, especially after spending so much and trying to be proactive. I used to speak very highly of Breezy Hill, but after these experiences, I can no longer do so in good faith. read more

We needed some plants so we stopped here (after months of just driving by it). Heard good things so I said..."what the heck!" If you are looking for outdoor gifts, plants, lawn ornaments, gravel, mulch, black dirt, sod, this is the place to go. Very reasonably priced and very well stocked. The staff is both courteous and attentive. They will answer all your lawn care or gardening needs. Very large selection of trees, and flowers. A must stop if you're in the area! read more

Do not use this company!!!! They do care if they satisfy the customer. We spent 75,000.00 on our new home's landscaping. Our yard looks terrible. We spent more of our own money on grass seed to try and fill in all the empty spots after all they did was come throw some more seed which did nothing. And it still looks horrible. we paid for them to put rock around our house and they left some empty spots and Brad's answer to that was to take some from another spot and move it over. So now you can see the landscaping fiber from where he moved it. Really a five gallon bucket of rock to satisfy us was way to much???? Brad has been nothing but condescending and argumentative . We just want what we were told we would get and that's not what we got. We had to fight him every step of the way. There is so much more not enough space. read more

BEWARE!!! The tree we purchased from Breezy Hill two years ago died. They honored their guarantee to replace the tree however I SPECIFICALLY stated their machinery was not allowed on our driveway for the install of the replacement tree since the machinery used for the initial tree install leaked oil all over our concrete driveway. Breezy Hill gave us $75 to get our driveway professionally cleaned after the first incident (which DID NOT cover the cost at all) and I was assured they would only use a small machine to remove the dead tree and install the new tree. Imagine my shock and disgust when I saw stains all over my driveway AGAIN. The worst stains are where the machine was parked while they planted the tree however oil and gas stains go all the way from the road up our driveway (our driveway is 400 ft). Avoid this place at all costs if you care about your driveway. read more

I have been purchasing perennials from them for several years. Without exception, most of the plants die after the first year. I am now questioning the quality of their plants, since the Home Depot plants seem to survive after the first year. My wife and I tried to use their landscaping service for a patio with landscaping quote in September of this year. The gentlemen came out and took measurements but was very short with us when we asked detailed questions such as colors for the concrete and accents we were requesting. We have yet to receive any type of estimate or even courtesy correspondence of some type saying when the estimate would be ready. Buyer Beware. Quality is lacking. Customer service is lacking. A simple $600 order took a month to be available for pick up. When the plants were finally available for pick up, they looked sad and one was 4 times more expensive than the one in the signed quote. They said the 15# larger size was all they carry. So why quote one at 5#? My client rejected the sad-looking plants and when I went to take them back within 24hrs (the next morning after a late afternoon pickup the day before) I was told they only accept returns on same day. The customer service person helped me load the sad-looking plants the afternoon before. No help. No good conscience. Again, buyer beware. Read their fine print. I'm out 1/6th of a $600 order. There are other, much, much better nurseries nearby with gorgeous products and very positive customer service and great prices. Try them instead. read more

The customer service is extremely poor. I was very surprised. The attitude and treatment I received from the field person left me at a loss. I would love to give a 5 star glowing review because I love shopping at this nursery however, I am sad to say that although I tried hiring for a landscaping job, after several weeks with still no contract and only excuses that they are now out 8 weeks out because they don't have the labor to do the jobs, I finally gave up. If I request a quote in early April, why would I want to start the job in August at the end of the season? Extremely disappointed. I had to call several times and go over to the office just to get a quote for weekly lawn care. Forget about the new landscaping I wanted to have installed; that went right over their head. They proceeded to send me an email quote that wasn't even what I was looking for. After calling them back several times, and getting no response, we gave up until recently. They installed a sod lawn and sprinkler system as a first phase of our project, and the results were fantastic. Several of our neighbors have complimented us on its quality and appearance. In 2011 we purchased a new home with an overgrown and horrendous landscape. We were so pleased working with Mike at our previous home that we hired him for our new home. Breezy Hill recently completed a major landscaping job for my neighbor. They were months behind schedule and seemed to be working from the seats of their pants. During the last year, an immense amount of water, dirt, sand, and rocks were allowed to flow downhill into our lake and into my backyard. We spent hours cleaning the debris from our grass and emptying our boat house so it could dry out. On several occasions we asked them to be careful when digging around the 100+ year oak tree on the edge of our property. They ignored this request and used a bobcat to dig a large French drain just a few feet from the tree. When my wife inspected the damage to the roots they dumped a load of dirt directly behind her. When I told them to stop immediately they said they were behind schedule which was true but laughable since they were months behind schedule. If you want to wait for months to complete your project and hire a company that shows no regard for your neighbors then Breezy Hill is the team for you. read more

Drove by and saw a sign that said 40% off roses . Went in and walked back to the roses and picked three out and then stood in line . When I finally got to the front - It was very busy the lady said Oh by the way those roses aren't for sale . I said it said 40 % off roses ! She said not those . So I got out of line and walked around . Went out to the sign to see if I misread read it and I didn't . Looked around the place and couldn't find a sign in the place that said select roses or only knock out roses . Went back into line and talked to a manager. I told her I looked around and couldn't find a sign . She said they were around and gave me a big smile . Very rude when I wasted my time when I wouldn't of wasted my time if they would of posted this on their sign . I'm sure other people fell for this as she stated "You know these are not part of the sale " Others must of had the same problem . Very deceiving and dishonest. What a waste of time and I will never go their again ! They lost a lot of customers over 40$ . They will say they had all kinds of signs but they didn't . The gigantic sign by the road said 40% off roses . Not select roses and if they say that it did they are lying ! They should just admit they were wrong and fix the problem . They are to busy trying to justify their mistake and not admitting they made a mistake and fixing it . My husband and I are working on getting our house landscaped. We are a new construction home. We now have money to get some landscaping projects done. We did our homework as we are on a budget. We visited Breezy hill several times. We wanted to purchase outcropping step for an area off of our dog run where there is a big drop. Each time we went we got different answers. We finally spoke with the manager Kathy Seitz. She told us to come in early on a Saturday morning and there would be a person to help us pick and choose which pieces we want on to a pallet. She also wrote down the costs for us. So we did that and paid for it. She was not there that Saturday we picked our stone. The plan was to have our landscaper come to pick up. When he arrived to pick it up he was told that they did not charge us correctly so he could not take it. We then received a call from Kathy that we were grossly undercharged. She would not honor the prices that she wrote down. She did apologize and offer a discount. However the cost would still have made it 2x what we paid. It is not our fault that the workers there are clueless. There are signs at the end of each row with the name and costs of whatever type of stone in that row. We asked several times on each visit about this and were assured that the cost was per ton and not per piece. Apparently what we chose was per piece. If the manager writes down the cost and tells you it is per ton would you not believe her? Very frustrating. This is not the first time we have had issues with this company. But it is the last time!
