I would go to another place for top soil... now the reason why I gave them a 2 was that I did speak to the manager and she gave me a half off discount on my next yard... but that soil was the same as the original... I know they were short on soil but then charge less and do not say it's pulverized.... thats shameful. !!!

Horrible experience with Breezy Hill. Had a landscaping project done last year by a professional…read morecontractor. Chose Breezy Hill for the perennials due to proximity to my home in Salem Lakes. Spent over $1,000 on a variety of rose bushes, shrubs, etc. Landscapers planted them, installed the weed barrier, and landscaping stones as is customary last July. Everything looked great and I was a happy camper for a few months. 2026 rolls around, and nearly half the perennials that we purchased were completely dead. They did not survive the winter. I took pictures, emailed Pam at Breezy Hill to see what they could do. Here is her response: Hi Mike, Thanks for sending these pictures. As you know we do not warranty cash & carry items and actually never warranted Perennials at all. We are confident they are healthy when they leave our care since we are all gardeners here, but overwintering is our biggest challenge with our very volatile and extreme temperature fluctuations. The way to ensure best results for this is to remove all stone from their vicinity and mulch instead, which moderates and insulates temperature and moisture for our plants, much as would occur in nature with plant debris forming the mulch layer. Stone does the opposite of this causing even worse fluctuations while also cutting off oxygen and sometimes water to the roots. If there is landscape fabric under the stone that should also be removed since that makes even worse conditions for the plants, e.g. no oxygen or water to the roots, sours and compacts the soil. I'm here to help with more suggestions any time today, July 4 until 7:00, July 5 10-4:00, July 6 after about 2:00-7, July 7 9-6. They grow and sell ten varieties of the most beautiful, long-lasting, and unique poinsettias that you can find in northern Illinois. And this year, they offered a lovely, double-petaled variety that is upright and almost looks like a rose. The people are friendly, the greenhouse is big and beautiful, and they sell Christmas trees, greenery, wreaths and other holiday trimmings. It's a wonderful place out in the country. Yes, you can probably get bigger poinsettias at a big box store like Home Depot, but they will not last as long or be as special. And after your done at Kolzes, drive a bit north and stop in at Woodstock's downtown square. It's really beautiful, and it was where the movie Groundhog Day was filmed. It's a Duesy! From what I see not their website, I am sure that Kolzes is great during other seasons, too. I just love supporting small, family-owned businesses.

We went around to several nurseries, Home Depots, and Menards but we ultimately purchased a large order of viburnum from S & S because of their price, the health of their plants, and their one year warranty. I had the…read moreopportunity to interact with the owner who was extremely helpful in picking out trees for a privacy screen for our home in Whitewater. The trees were delivered the following week and we planted them the next day. Over the course of 2021 we watered the trees twice a week. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2021 most of the trees started to brown. One of the trees died over the winter and when we contacted Arbor Vista Nursery they suggested a fertilizer stick and for us to continue watering to reverse the browning. They indicated they would replace the tree for $100. Over the course of the summer of 2022 6 additional trees died. Fast forward to the Spring of 2023, we have 7 dead trees, followed the instructions of Arbor Vista Nursery and they want to charge us 40% more per tree for two foot shorter trees. I feel let down considering we followed their advice, that some of the trees were diseased and started browning since we purchased them at that we are being taken advantage of to replace them. They were extremely unhelpful in resolving our concerns and I found several other reputable nurseries that our selling their same product for cheaper. Recommend purchasing elsewere.

Somehow along the way it was not communicated that the beds need to be defined and established before the planting began. Eleazar and Arturo called Richard and he came right out to give us the estimate for cutting the beds and it was completed within an hour and all of the planting was completed.
