I've been there a couple of times this year, and have had great service. In fact, I'm on my way back to pick up a climbing rose, although it's not the ideal time of the season to plant it. They carry so much, you are bound to walk out with something you never intended to buy. I am a carryover from their place on Grand Avenue, and am glad they are closer. Lame plants. I wouldn't have got anything, but I had a gift certificate. Went before mothers Day. All the plants were super leggy as they had never been piched and needed water desperately. Many plants just sticks with a few leaves. I got a 6 pack of hot pink impatient. I waited forever for them to fill in my pot, but they still have very few blooms. Normal impatients bloom like crazy! Summer is almost over. Additionally, while I was shopping, I asked an employee if the had tuberous begonia. She ignored me the first time. When I asked again, she was very snippy as if was was bothering her. Not worth the time it took to drive there. Very disappointed as a friend highly recommended. read more

Horvat nurseries has always been the first garden shop I would go to every year since they opened at this location. I typically spent several hundred dollars there every year even though they are much more expensive than other garden shops in the area and I like to shop "local". Today I stopped in to check out what they had as I haven't been in for a while. As usual, I brought my small canine sidekicks. I, along with another customer who had brought their Yorkie along, were shopping outside, and were asked to leave our dogs (mine are an apparently scary Chorkie and a Chihuahua mix) in the car if we wanted to shop. This is not necessarily an unreasonable request, but it's never been a problem in all the years I have been shopping there (or other local garden shops) . It was explained to me that some customers may be afraid of dogs and they couldn't come inside. I understand this, but we were outside and there were literally no customers except gentleman with the Yorkie in myself. As it was 84° outside, leaving the dogs in the car was not an option, but leaving my purchase behind was. Both the Yorkie owner and I left with our vicious dogs. Had a terrible interaction with a young lady yesterday and left the place absolutely dumbfounded at how she spoke to me. Prior to posting anything publicly, I emailed the owner to let him know about it thinking perhaps it would be helpful for their business to know something like this had happened. I received a response similar to the responses to negative reviews on here: defensive and blaming me, the customer. He said he reviewed the video and that he saw nothing wrong. I asked him to please publish the video on their Facebook page. Although I know that won't happen, it is a testament of how sure I am that no human should treat another human like that, and especially in a customer service role. I recommend heading up to Breezy Hill (or anywhere else, really) just over the border. Spoke with them recently and they were so, so wonderful and so helpful. read more

Was looking forward to finding some Plants I saw on their website. When I arrived I asked a woman where to find them and she pointed me in a direction where there were hundreds of plants. After looking for 10 min I asked her again and she brushed me off. Seemed too busy to help. You are only as good as your customer service unfortunately Update: 8-16-20 I am surely not a competitor but am in retail. I've come to this location a number of times since it moved from Grand Ave. They have a huge selection of plants and a nice indoor area with garden items as well. Service is fine if you can find someone. My biggest complaint and the reason for the low rating is the teenager they've got checking people out. She is not pleasant and rather snarky. I would suggest they hire someone that actually has an understanding of customer service. Her attitude is the the reason why I will not be returning. read more

We went to several nurseries before going to Horvats and I couldn't sleep. I was very stressed out because I really needed help. I just needed someone to help me with a look I found. All I did was show the picture and the lady showed me exactly what I needed. She even helped me figure out how many flowers I needed. She was extremely knowledgable!! The selection was much better then the other locations I visited. All those that helped me including the young man that loaded the car was extremely helpful. I will definitely return to this nursery. We completed our driveway and I can't wait to see how it looks at full bloom. Now it's time to do the lake side!! So exciting :) read more

This place was awful. First I could not find anyone to help me and then when I finally got someone, the person was rude and nasty to me. The place smelled like a dirty diaper and bad water and many of the plants had bugs. I could not believe what I was seeing. Overpriced too. Very overpriced. There are so many other nurseries around. There is really no good reason to come here. read more
