When we arrived, we also got a 5$ coupon for the restaurant so technically it's like 25$ a person if you end up buying food. The food was reasonably priced and was good quality. They have beer on tap too that was 6$ for about a 12oz. Lots of areas to jump off and space to swim around without it being too crowded. You'll have to do a swim test which is really easy. You jump in, swim to the platform, tread water for 1min, and then swim to the exit ladder.

Last time in was for an anniversary party seating 100+ people plus a two-line buffet with space enough for dancing and cavorting into the evening. When she let us know, I explained that I was already in the middle of a meeting and asked if I could have 30 minutes to finish before moving, especially since no one was waiting to use the room and it was otherwise completely empty. Instead of handling the situation with even basic kindness or professionalism, she was extremely rude, unfriendly, and dismissive. She interrupted my meeting multiple times, demanding that I leave immediately, despite my explaining that I was actively on a work call. I ultimately had to close the door just so I could finish my meeting without being interrupted again. I completely understand that certain rooms may be reserved and would have had absolutely no issue moving once that was explained to me. The problem was entirely in **how** the situation was handled. There was no reason to speak to us so disrespectfully over an honest mistake, particularly when the room wasn't even needed at that moment. Customer service and basic kindness go a long way. Unfortunately, this interaction made what otherwise could have been a perfectly normal experience incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I would not return based on how we were treated.

They batch mixed our signature, cocktails of old-fashioned and cosmos and were all around quick and efficient behind the bar so there was never wait for 100 guests. The Photo Booth, it was a huge hit the lighting made us all look gorgeous! The doors that open to the outside when it gets dark and cooler made the lovely evening even more magical. We had them stay closed a little longer to keep taking advantage of the great air-conditioning The bartenders, the wait staff, the banquet manager, our wedding planner... just everyone was so wonderful and all guests were entirely impressed with the venue. My daughter joked that she wanted to do it again and asked her new husband if they could renew their vows right away! Summer brides and grooms: We handed out OK for psychiatrist I mean 4x4" ice packs, rechargeable fans, and hand fans. We saved thousands moving the date back one week from September into August. Aside from the immediate appreciation of the ice packs during the vows the hand fans actually were most popular as the evening went on. Load up on those if you are at all concerned. There is plenty of shade for cocktail hour. The ceremony is in sun so the guests sit at the last moment and stroll the grounds prior. Incredibly disappointed with my experience trying to plan a wedding here…read more They recently changed their policy to allow only one exclusive caterer unless you are willing to pay the exorbitant $500 outsourcing fee. I was a bit apprehensive about this to begin with, but I was reassured that this caterer (Bouk) was the best, both in terms of food and customer service. I wish I could say the food was good, but in two months I was never even able to schedule a tasting with them. The communication was poor and it seemed like the only time I heard from the caterer with any concrete information was after I brought my complaints to the citizen's center. I put my complaints in writing and forwarded them to the center and when I asked if we could rearrange the reservation so that we could still have our ceremony in the garden and have our reception elsewhere (so that I didn't have to cancel the whole thing), I was basically gently encouraged to cancel and "move forward with a different option." Essentially I was being told that everyone (including the supervisor) thought it would be best for me not to have any part of my wedding at the Mack Center. I couldn't believe how unwelcoming that felt. It appears that the caterer's busy schedule took precendnt over a satisfied customer...a bride-to-be no less. Although they basically gave me no options on how to resolve the situation outside of cancelling, they still processed the cancellation with the 50% rent fee. Although I realize this is the contact I signed and their standard policy, they didn't even apologize. No effort made to help. Honestly, I'm sure the Mack Center would have been a great venue. The staff was great...at the beginning. But since they have changed their policy it seems like they may be willing to jeopardize their reputation with customers to preserve their new relationship with Bouk catering. There are a lot of other wonderful venues in the Charlotte and Lake Norman areas that are affordable and give you options for catering...that way, if you don't have a good experience with one, you are not blacklisted from the venue all together.
