A Little Mistake That Cost a Bride $2,000 I am the bride as you might imagine, with the venue I chose, Brenda Abbott's day of coordination was included in the price. Once I discovered this, I decided to just hire her entirely for floral arrangements as well as a full service coordinator (not just day of coordinator). I hired her with plenty of a heads up: 1 year before the wedding. What came next surprised me. Below is a breakdown of the Floral Service AND the Full Service Coordination as there were multiple issues with Brenda Abbott's ability to live up to her promises. Floral Service: 1. Her quote was 4 TIMES every single other floral quote I received, even with the same type of flowers and arrangements. 2. When I reached out about it being out of budget, she proceeded to tell me to "remove items from the quote" instead of working with me on the pricing. The quote included basic arrangements, nothing special so removing items would've been bridesmaid bouquets. 3. Items I requested due to the preferred colors, were immediately shot down as "you don't want that". 4. Don't fall for the "only florist in Bastrop" statement. You can hire florists from Austin and YOU'LL SAVE THOUSANDS. Full Service Coordination Service: 1. Brenda lacked the ability to remember large details or retain information. 2. She was not proactive in anyway shape or form. 3. For someone that says she has "years of experience coordinating weddings" she definitely doesn't have the mentality to ensure a Bride that has NEVER had a wedding before is setup for success. 4. There is no proactive communication on timeline of events, i.e. "What to be prepared for at the 1 year before, 6 months before, 3 months before, day of marks." 5. She did NOT show up the day of the wedding. She didn't even have her assistant prepared for the day of. I was asked basic questions at 8:30AM on my wedding day that should've been asked weeks before. 6. Brenda has zero empathy or even a care about you as a person. I had to ask her 3 TIMES to remove my mom from the list of "attendees", "family members that walk down the isle" as she passed away 5 years ago. tl;dr If you made it this far and just want a short and sweet warning here it is: --- DO NOT USE BRENDA ABBOTT FOR ANY OF HER SERVICES, YOU WILL BE STRESSED FROM HER LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. --- read more

Instead, they sent Brenda and she was punctual, professional and did an wonderful job of rallying my bridal party and family to make the rehearsal quick (with ~25 people, that's not an easy task!). Brenda has been my florist for years! She is truly one of the best florists I've ever used, and I've worked with extremely high end florists in my former profession. Her work is sophisticated and unique - you won't find any of her pieces looking like any of the cookie cutter arrangements found on generic websites. I love that she uses higher end florals. I never have to worry about any of her arrangements looking "cheap." I usually give Brenda a general look that I'm wanting, with only color requests. She takes my vague instruction and realizes my vision PERFECTLY. Brenda's price points are definitely on point for the caliber of work she does. As with most services, you get what you pay for. There may be cheaper options in the area, but I can guarantee you that they aren't even in the same league as Brenda. My most recent event that I required Brenda's services was my mom's funeral. Brenda was so kind and compassionate. It was short notice, but she took the time to sit down with me and make sure everything was perfect. I was a little scattered and emotional, and Brenda took my by the hand and walked me through everything. Mom's casket spray was absolutely stunning. Mom would have loved it, and we received so many compliments! An added kindness - The caterer I'd initially engaged for the reception fell through, and I just happened to mention it to her at our meeting. I don't even know where to begin. We had our wedding at the red rock vineyards and the pkg included flowers done by Brenda abbott. I sent all my pics over of what I wanted my flowers to look like. the colors were completely wrong, they were wrapped in ribbon not burlap like I wanted and For what we paid and what we got were definitely not what we paid for. I would have given a minus if I could. My daughter's wedding was on Valentine's day and this business complained it was there busiest day of the year. We were told don't expect any roses and the flowers will be what is available. From the start they made my daughter feel like her wedding wasn't important. We missed a payment "deadline" with all the crazy COVID details and when my daughter called them they said you might not have any flowers for your wedding now. They never called and asked for the final payment 3 months before the wedding which upset my daughter and having a bride in tears isn't appropriate. The flowers ended up being fine nothing spectacular. They were all ROSES which my daughter never wanted in the first place. I was disappointed to see she misrepresented the incident and stand firm by my original review.*** We met with Brenda for a consultation and gave a deposit. We were having a large scale wedding that was several months away. Shortly after our visit with her, we received devastating news that my Father was terminally ill and appeared to be declining rapidly. We made the decision to move the wedding up to ensure he could be apart of it and had only 1 month to plan it. Obviously our budget decreased by about 90%. I discussed what was going on with Brenda. She was cold and came across in a completely different demeanor than at our original consultation. She was the only one out of all of our wedding vendors that was uncooperative and unsupportive. I refused to give her any additional money and we got a pretty crappy selection on my wedding day. Weddings are stressful without extenuating circumstances. Brenda will make your wedding more stressful and will be unsympathetic to any dilemmas you may have. read more

I had her do the florals for my wedding this past weekend, and while an arrangement for the rehearsal dinner and the bouquets were gorgeous, the center arrangements left something to be desired. I had sent several pictures and ideas, and the end products just weren't quite what I had hoped. Still pretty, and totally fine, but I'd make sure that if you want something a little different than the typical arrangements that you make sure to clarify and maybe see a sample before the big day. read more

I placed a very small order with Brenda Abbott about a year out from my wedding... Just a bridal bouquet, boutineers, and mothers corsages. All of the items that arrived we're gorgeous but I was missing 3 boutineers(including the grooms). My bridal bouquet was gorgeous but should have consisted of peonies and garden roses.. to me, it appeared to be standard roses and a few peonies, just not what I pictured in my mind. It was also Mother's Day weekend and they were loaded with 4 other weddings? Maybe too much? Maybe my order wasn't as big or important as the others, but it was important to me. I am going to start by saying that Brenda was FANTASTIC!!!! My husband and I recently got married at the Colovista Mansion. They suggested Brenda Abbot as a wedding planner and at first I thought her fee was too much to pay for things that I could just do myself. Boy was I wrong!!!! My grandmother paid for our entire wedding and insisted on hiring Brenda! Looking back on it now, hiring her was the BEST money spent. Quite honestly, she deserves much more then what she charges. She is one of the most talented people in this town, if not THE most talented. Our wedding was an extravagant, expensive, classy, elegant wedding with nearly 200 guests and Brenda made everything look so flawless and perfect. She did exactly what my grandmother and I had wanted, and even exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately my grandmother passed away 5 months before our wedding and Brenda did a phenomenal job changing things not once but twice to fit our new budget. She was so understanding and sympathetic towards us during our time of grief. She did all the communicating with all the vendors, there isn't one time I can think of that she ever asked me to do anything. She did it all!! Even helped me in and out of my dress on the big day!
