From the beginning things were great. They were timely on showing up for a quote and the installation of the fence went GREAT! The workmanship by the installers was really good. The issue came to communication (or seriously lack there of). It took about 2 plus months to have the gate installed (after the fence was finished). We never received communication from them about a timeline etc. We called multiple times, went there in person and were always given the run around. The girl who answers the phone is absolutely the worse. We were lied to and advised by the girl that everything had arrived and our gate would be installed by the end of the week. 1 more month went by and when we tried to follow up, we never received a call back. We ended up having to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and all of sudden on day 15 we received a response and by miracle within 10 days our gate was installed. Again, the workmanship is GREAT, but customer service is absolutely lacking and terrible. We also know that they know our number and know how to reach out to us, because they had no issue reaching us when it came time to collect the remaining balance. read more

I generally don't leave reviews, but decided it was warranted in this case as Brennan's Fence company is absolutely horrible and left my property in a very dangerous state after the fence installation. We're very lucky, as my family or pets could have been electrocuted since their installation hit the power lines on my property. We paid over $7K for the fence and then had to pay an electrician to repair the damage to the underground high voltage power lines. Per Brennan's contract, they survey utility lines. The line they hit was power from the house to the detached garage. They DIDN'T survey any lines prior to the installation even though their contract said they would, but said it's not possible to survey lines from the house to the garage - which is a lie. My landscaper surveyed the power lines and marked the lines from the house to the garage. Brennan's installer KNEW he hit the high voltage lines, but said nothing. The electrician had to pull the power lines out of the fence post concrete, so the installer had to know. I emailed Brennan's with pictures and they they refused to accept responsibility even though someone could have been electrocuted. Brennan's used to be a good company, but their quality and responsibility has really deteriorated. I've stopped 2 people from using Brennan's so hopefully tis review will deter more folks for using this dreadful and dangerous company. read more

I had a tree fall on one panel of my fence a week or so ago. I couldn't find the right size at any store, so I called around to local fence companies. No one would sell me the rails I needed, until I called Brennan's. I spoke to Nichole late on Friday afternoon and she went way out of her way to help me out. Her attitude and customer service were wonderful. They had the right size in stock for me and agreed for me to pick it up on Saturday, even though they were closed. I met with Jack, and he even cut my slats that I needed to size for me, saving me a ton of time. Brennen's installed a vinyl fence on mu deck in May 2020. None of the material was damaged when removed from the packaging. The installers made several mistakes during the installation of the railings because they did not use the guides provided. They had to remove and reinstall the railing twice to get it right including drilling multiple holes that were unnecessary. They also hammered the railing and post bottom covers which rubber mallets while damaged the finish and broken one of the covers. Upon completion they agreed to provide a replacement cover and repair the damage. After multiple phone calls they finally came out on 1/21/20 and replaced the post cover. They agreed to replace the damaged top rail but showed up on 1/21/21 without the necessary parts. I was upset and voiced my displeasure so they let without completing the work. I called the office and the mobile number for one of the owners on 1/22/21with no return call. The owners mail box was full. My mistake was paying the final invoice in full before the work was complete. I felt the entire organization was unprofessional. I would not use Brennans Fence & Deck Installations in the future and do not recommend them. BTW....I am located in Cary, NC not San Francisco, CA. read more

Busy is one thing (and if you're busy, good on ya!), but ignoring repeated requests for an estimate is downright rude...even for a highly recommended fencing company (Brennan's in Raleigh). I missed the rep's visit while taking wife to the ER (she's better now), but he left a card with my son, who tried to explain my absence. That must've ticked off the company because two emails and four phone calls to two different numbers have gotten me nowhere since. We called Brennan's Fence and Tyler came out to give us a quote, that is where the lies began. We had to email to get a date of install after we already paid a deposit. The day before install my husband called to get a timeframe. We were told they would be at the house between 8:30-9:00, my husband was planning to go in late to work so he could get them started. They never showed, my husband called back and we were told they don't give out timeframes, my husband had to miss an entire day of work due to poor communication. Tyler told us the install crew would remove the dirt and throw it behind our house. Once the crew showed they said they do not remove the dirt. We had a plan with Tyler on where we wanted the gate and how the fence was going to look. The crew did not want to put the gate where we said, they said it would be easier on the other side of the yard they made it very difficult to just do what we asked and what the plan was with Tyler. It was not until the crew showed up and got started that we learned we would not have the gate installed on Thursday. They had nine weeks to have the needed material, and gave us zero communication that our gate would not be installed. When the crew was asked they said maybe Monday. We called the office spoke with Nicole, she has to be the rudest most disrespectful person I have had to endure. She said that this was construction, I too work in construction and regardless it should have been communicated. She said she would call me Friday morning to let me know when the gate would arrive, because she didn't have a clue. On Friday she spoke with my husband, saying it would be installed by EOD. Friday came and went, and yet no gate. Zero communication, we had no idea when we would get the gate. On Monday we had a knock on the door without any follow up that they were there to install the gate. This company has been nothing but rude, uninformative and out of line with how they handle their customers. read more

I had no idea what to expect as this is the first time we've needed to put a fence up and the first time we've had to hire a company for anything in NC. Brennan's was recommended to us by our realtor so we went with them. Kristin was in constant contact with us while we went through the process of the estimate and the HOA approval. Once all of that was done we had a complete fence *exactly* as we asked in a few days. They had a great estimate and didn't go over, were on time, sent 2 very nice gentlemen to do the work, left no mess, and completed all work on time. I am a Property Manager and work with a lot of contractors. Brennan's Fence is by far the worst I have done business with. I do not recommend even requesting a quote. All the negative reviews are typical of what I experienced. I was strung along for 6 months and finally had to request my deposit returned. The owners do not return calls. They promise start dates and do not show up. I was told more than 6 times they would be out on a certain day and they never showed and never called to reschedule. I had to call them every time. The quality of the fence is not the issue. It's the responsiveness of the owners. It's the lack of communication & lack of organization. It cost a lot of money for a fence & it discourages me that they are not appreciative of their customers. Presently, we have an issue with a crack in our brick pillar. One of their workers did it by accident. I have made numerous calls & finally a family member came out to see it. I was irate because he blamed my husband and I. He said, " we were in a rush to get our fence in so the brick cracked. I want you to know a day or two wouldn't of mattered to us. We waited a long time for this installation. The shame of it is, they should take ownership & get someone out to our house and fix it immediately. It's been 3 weeks and no one has fixed it. Had them install double door on existing fence. The next high wind, door blew open, hinges sagging, added an additional rod into ground to secure. Now hinges are coming off, additional rod holder unattached and broken. Owner came out after at least 6 phone calls, promised a quote to fix what was his poor workmanship, never heard from him again. They built our deck a few years ago and now it's collapsing underneath us- my wife's foot went through one of the rotten boards and she could have been seriously hurt! They had the gall to have me pay for repairs about 6 months ago to replace some disintegrating deck boards, and now there are several more boards that are collapsing and they won't return my phone calls! Maybe they get their wood from China? Go to some other company that has been approved by the Better Business Bureau. These guys certainly aren't. read more

I had a 4' Aluminum fence installed around my back yard, a little over a quart of an acre. It was completed in less than 2 days. Great quality job. They also put in faux stone corners. Would have given a -1 but not an option. I was getting 3 quotes for a backyard fence and Joe Brennan came in the beginning of the week. He listened to what I needed and gave me a bunch of options. I felt really good about the consultation and responded to his email that I needed a quote and a some other information. I have emailed 3 x's his personal email called the office 3x's where I left 2 messages had to call a 3rd - actually spoke with someone and still never received a call back after calling his personal number AND texting. Who treats a potential customer that way??? I sat in wait wasting weeks that I could have moved onto the next plan and still can't wrap my head around not communicating regardless of the reason! I was referred to Brennan's and reached out to Richard, an employee of Brennans for a quote. I thought I was using the fence company, and I'm still not 100% sure, but I believe this guy took my fence as a "side job". He came out to my house, gave me a quote, told me he could have my fence up by the end of the weekend. I paid him 1/2 down at this point. He never showed up. I had to call him to find out where he was. He finally called me back on Sunday night and he said he got "held up" and would be there on Monday. He didn't show up again. I tried calling him for two days. He was unreachable by phone. I finally reached out to his boss stating that I thought he ran off with my money. His boss seemed like he didn't know about my project but told me he would tell Richard to call me. Richard finally called me back the following week and said my fence would be done by that Thursday. He brought by the supplies and put up a couple posts, then never showed up again. After calling him over and over again, with no response, I had to reach out to another fence company to finish the job (now 4 weeks later). I can't say not to use Brennan's Fence Company, as I'm not even sure I was actually using them, but I certainly would make sure the person coming out to your house is the real deal. read more

Calls were returned quickly, and even after signing the contract which had my job laid out we were able to change it up a bit & special order part of our fencing to meet our needs. We called and called and called to have them come look at it...it took FOREVER for someone to finally come out ( after a not so nice call). Owner's Son came out said he would take care of it and agreed there were a lot of problems, set a date to fix it - No SHOW! Set another date- guess what NO SHOW! Terribly disappointed, but threw in the towel. Had another company come out, they agreed it was a train wreck fixed everything and now a year later..fence still looks great. read more

I hired Brennan's Fence & Deck Installations to install a treated wood fence for our backyard, a tad over a year ago, I noticed that a few boards were starting to warp, the one in the incl. photo, being the worst of the bunch. I called Brennan's Fence and spoke to owner Jim, who indicated that he wouldn't honor any warranty, charge me for the (new) wood to replace the old and to add insult, only do the repair, if he should have a crew working in my area. This is not good business practice. We do not recommend or endorse Brennan's Fence. Going forward, I would look for a more professional fence company, with better ethics. Live and learn, We will also be removing Brennan's name & phone number plate, which they installed on our fence, once the job was completed. They were also very expensive. read more

For a second, let's neglect the screws that were left in the yard and that miraculously "came from underground, not the installers." And let's also neglect the mounds of mud left in the yard that wasn't disposed of or even bagged. And while we're at it, let's also neglect the yelling and insults received on the phone from Jim after inquiring about the constant installation delay. Yes, let's neglect all of that. The main issue is the customer service.The installation was put on hold for weeks and weeks. We'd call the company, get the run around...and then we would promptly get BLAMED for the delay! Do not recommend these people to put in a horse fence. They are unrealiable and do substandard work. I had them install about 3 acres of fencing with five gates; both three board wooden and three strand electric. Had to have them return several times and fix numerous issues. The business owner even came and fixed a couple problems. Honestly, I got tired of calling them and started fixing things myself. I paid $14K for the materials and fence and was personally making repairs within 2 months of completion. Stay away from this company. read more
