Pulled by the Brewer's Outlet for a few brews and was pleasantly surprised by the selection. I'd call it a premier place to get craft beer in the Mount Airy /Germantown area. I love that their craft beer section is separated by state so if you like to travel across the US like me, you'll probably find some buys that remind you of your favorite trip. Solid selection of craft beers, decent prices, and sufficient sales volume that freshness is seldom an issue. Brewers Outlet is my first stop whenever my beer stock has dwindled. The staff knows their beers, and beyond that, they're just good people. I can, amazingly, buy beer in supermarkets now, but regardless, I'll hit up Brewers Outlet even if I'm headed to Acme just minutes later. read more

The major plus of Brewer's Outlet is that it's within walking distance for me. I've usually found the employees to be pretty friendly too. The only thing I don't like is that their prices aren't too hot. They're not outrageous but unless I'm feeling lazy or I just want a case of lager it's not my go-to beer place. They want $40 for a case of Buffalo Bill's oatmeal stout that I've seen for $33 elsewhere (in-state) and their price for lager is a few bucks more than a lot of places. It's my least favorite time of the year: Football season. It's when my man says he'll kick this habit of ingesting football all the time but that is a big fat lie meant to keep me hopeful. I miss the days of when we were first dating during football season and he would keep that side of him hidden like it didn't exist. Now he checks/reads/watches football godknowswhat first thing in the AM and then he spends 10 hours watching football on Sunday -- sprawled happily out on the couch. It makes me want to do something cliché like rock a marathon of Project Runway while drinking pink martinis but I'm pretty sure he'd sulk worse than me if I changed the channel. So yeah, we stopped by this Brewers Outlet because beer and football go hand in hand. God Bless Ammmurrica. I was happy to see they have a refrigerated room in the back corner so you could grab your standard beers (Buds, Coors, Corona, Yuengling, Miller etc) if you needed to bring beer cold to your football watching party (sigh). I wish they would throw some seasonal beers in there as well so I could show up with something more interesting. Oh and I was happy to see my favorite beer, Mad Elf, stocked and ready to go. Only downside is that it's not really a "deal" to buy a case of beer here. We got two cases-- a Mad Elf and a Pumpkin Ale which cost us a Benjamin Franklin and a Jackson. But I need to nurse my Mad Elf while I watch Eli Manning act surprised when his passes get intercepted. That guy can ACT. Stage left: Enter me trying to feign like the laid back girl who likes to watch more than one game of football IN A ROW. Thank God for Fantasy Football, keeping me somewhat interested. Pretty sweet place and does the trick. I'm new to Philly so I'm still adjusting to the beer/alcohol laws. A little more costly than what I'm used to in California, but it's fine. It's basically a small warehouse full of beer. It was kind of warm in there when I went so I didn't really want to stay in there and peruse. I don't remember any of the beers being refrigerated except for possibly a walk-in fridge for kegs so make sure to plan for that. There was only one checker open and there was a line, but people were patient. They take credit card. Everything was really convenient. There's a parking lot with plenty of parking. The only carts I saw were like the ones at Costco for larger loads so if you're planning for just a few cases, I'd recommend coming with a buddy to help you carry some things. They also have chips and other munchies but not a huge selection. For some reason I was thinking that they also sold brewing supplies (maybe I was confusing with something else), but a beer distributor (thank you PA). Had a pretty good selection, but feels like you're shopping in a cold airplane hangar. Prices are a little higher, but not too bad and they had all of the usual suspects in terms of beers. If I could booze around my parents I'd probably be here way more often than my wallet could handle. The selection is fantastic, though I've seen cheaper prices in the burbs. I don't know if it's because its the go to spot in Mt. Airy/Chestnut Hill, so they can bump up prices without repercussions or something else. But since it's probably saving gas money in the long run, I suppose it balances out. They also have wine tasting events every week and really make it a community endeavor. But I wish I could get a six pack from here. Luckily there's a diner down the street... Pretty solid overall. read more

I absolutely love this place! I was there for the free beer tasting last Saturday. They were featuring Kona Brewing Company. The staff was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. The layout of the store is easy to understand for a very big store. The prices for craft beer and imports are very reasonable compared to other stores. The selection is very impressive. If you come here, you will find it all. It really is a complete beverage store. They sell water, soda and other items at great prices. It is a not to miss experience. read more

Definitely the best selection of beer you are going to find in Northwest Philly. The staff is knowledgeable and can help you navigate the sometimes overwhelming number of options. Brewers carries way more craft and local beers than any of the other distributors in the area. I've never been able to make it, but apparently they offer a pretty awesome tasting session on Saturday afternoons. They also have a selection of loose bottles on a shelf by the checkout where you can swap out one of the beers in your case to try something new. I would give them 5 stars, but I had to knock it down to 4 since the last time I was there they were out of my top 3 choices (Southern Tier Pumpkin Ale, Southern Tier Variety Pack, and Yards Cape of Good Hope). I shouldn't really complain though because this is the only spot in the area that I know of where I would even have a shot of finding one of the above. read more

Love this place! My friendly neighborhood beer outlet. Been a fan since I've been legal to drink, back when my father would send me up here to buy a case of Yuengling with the returnable bottles. I stopped in while in Phila (Mt. Airy) and it was great to be back. I drink The Yards Philadelphia beer and found a six-pack. I liked the selection of craft beers found, including one from Colorado I had a couple weeks ago ( see the previous review). There were plenty other choices in the clean, neat rows made for the cases of beer. I noticed they placed coolers along the back wall ( at least new ones). They also opened up the ceiling so you can see the flags of the local sports teams across the top, above the coolers. Nice move. They still sell cigars and on this Saturday, there was a small beer tasting. Check-out and parking are still the same. It's a very Mt. Airy business and that's a good thing! read more

This is the best beer distributor out of the ones I've hit in the 'burbs. I grew up going to Madonna's on Easton Road, but because it's a drive-through, you've got to know what you want when you reach the window. Frosty Caps on 611 comes complete with a guy who looks like John Travolta, but mainly services the Miller Light crowd. Brewer's Outlet is one-stop shopping for beer, cider, and the Vintage seltzer that I love. I wish I could afford to buy an entire case of the Allagash Tripel ($74), but I'll have to stick to drinking it by the glass at Memphis Taproom. I can't confirm that they're over-priced on some goods because I rarely find the brews I like at other distributors. Most people's reaction to my query about Samuel Smith's Organic Cider is "huh?" A major boon is their swap policy. Buying a case of something from a microbrewery? Want to try a bottle of that local ____ before buying the whole case? Swap a bottle of yours for a bottle of theirs! Again, it's also convenient to be able to pick up bottled water and the like at the same spot. I've also never gotten those stares male employees sometimes give women that say "You're picking out the beer? That party's going to suck." The employees are helpful without any hints of snobbery. FYI: I'm listing this place as "pricey" because the beverages I like don't tend to come cheap. read more

I'm from the area but lived in center city for the last 15 yrs, and I'd buy Brewers up against Bella Vista, and the Springfield for best selection in the city, which puts it high in the running for best selection country wide. They don't have everything, but they have a lot, and the guys who run the place are nice and efficient. The beer swap is a nice touch, and they have a nice selection of bombers to take a look at on the way out. They're pricey but I always grab to if the Maine beers on the way out. This place continues to disappoint. Most of the beer is old, I couldn't find a decent IPA or pale that wasn't well past it's prime or aggressively overpriced. The craft prices are generally 15% to 20% higher than other distributors. That being said, I'd be willing to swallow the higher prices if the beer was fresh. Buyer beware. read more

This place has a good selection and comparable prices. They have beer tastings every Saturday as well as a selection of sodas and bottled water. They also have a refrigerated section. The staff goes from cheerful and friendly to grumpy. Watch the prices, because twice so far the price on the shelf did not match what I was wrong up for. I would give 3 1/2 stars for the prices but I learned that the owners agreed with the neighborhood association to not hang banners and advertisements outside or in the parking lot, which helps the neighborhood look nicer. read more

I think their mark-up is probably standard, and therefore competitive, and I guess I tend to gravitate toward the craftiest of crafts, but yeah, I'll keep going here until I stop drinking beer probably. read more

As far as PA beer distributors go, this place is great. Prices are a little high, but since they have great selection and there's not a lot of other distributors around, I'll accept it. I love the craft beer exchange at the checkout. You can swap out one craft beer from your case for one from the shelf. Nice way to try a new beer without buying a whole case. read more

I just had another awful on the phone with Brewers Outlet. I called once before and wanted information about some variety packs which turned into a hopeless exercise pulling teeth of the female on the phone. This time, I wanted to know what beers from a certain brewery they had. The woman put me on hold and came back to tell me they did not have any in stock. I then asked if there were any beers they could order from this particular brewer. The woman said "I'm not sure. He (I assume the owner?) just went outside. He wouldn't even get on the phone. So... maybe come in and see?" I'm supposed to drive into the store to see if you can order a certain beer because the owner doesn't feel like getting on the phone? I can't recall dealing with such an awful distributor. read more

I cannot thank Brewers Outlet enough for saving my day! In August, we contacted them about a custom beer order for my wedding and they made a plan I was so excited about (local beers from PA, NY, and DC to represent our home). Then I goofed... and didn't finalize payment. We realized this on Sunday -- the wedding day. Despite not normally doing delivery on Sunday, we were able to get all 3 kegs to the venue in under 30 minutes. I cannot thank Brewers Outlet enough.
