This was a unique brewery, not the best neighborhood but inside was safe. Unique clientele, knowledgeable staff, solid beer. The IPA was tasty.

Brought the sunshine outside inside with the open air indoor seating. Was excited to see they had Mom-Mom's Kitchen pierogies here as that had been on my list of places to try in Philly. Beer was alright, but the pierogies were the star of the show here!

I had a really great time when I stopped into Crime and Punishment this past Sunday. My husband and I each ordered a beer and sat at one of their inside picnic tables. The beer was delicious and reasonably priced. I tried Ghost Print and Draculator in the bigger sized pours. We had some friends join us and we split the pimento cheese dip which was big enough to share between 4 people. The pita that came with the dip was so puffy and delicious. I really enjoyed the dip. Hoping I can come back soon and try some more of their beers and maybe their pickle plate.

My husband and I stopped by Crime & Punishment for a beer at the recommendation of a friend and based on the stellar reviews. Brewerytown is definitely getting to be more up and coming, and Crime & Punishment is contributing to that! It's a small spot - a very narrow brewery with some bar seats and some tables, but we easily snagged a table for the 2 of us. The vibe is definitely "creepy fun" - on par with the name, it's a very dark-themed interior, but it works. They are a small operation, so they only offer a few beers per night. I was excited to try the Space Race, a beer that came highly recommended to me and was all over the Yelp reviews, but I was super disappointed to see it was not on that evening's menu. We settled for their seasonal Oktoberfest beer (it was Nov when we visited), which was standard - nothing too much to right home about. We didn't get any food or a second round, but we would love to make it back to try (hopefully) Space Race and some other brews to improve our meh first experience. Grateful that Crime & Punishment is revitalizing the area and has a cool vibe, so I'm hopeful that our return trip will be better!

Majin Buu coffee stout 13 oz. pour

My friend and I stopped by on a Friday for happy hour. During happy hour, Crime and Punishment offers $2 off full pours so both of us got 13 oz. pours for $4. I got the Majin Buu, which is a coffee stout. It was good, but tasted like a generic coffee stout. The place was a lot smaller than I expected and it was really busy. When we first walked in, there wasn't anywhere for us to sit, but we got lucky because someone was leaving as we were deciding what we wanted. Between the two of us, we sampled four different beers but nothing really wowed us. I'm glad I visited while I was in the neighborhood, but I really don't see myself coming back. If you're trying to experience the Philadelphia brewery scene, you are better off at Love City, Roy Pitz, or Yards.

This place was one of my favorites when we visited Philly. 1. The food is amazing. The menu was the perfect size not too much that you feel overwhelmed and not too small that you feel like you don't have options. We ordered the Ajika Benedict and the Mushroom Stroganoff. It was just so yummy!! I had the Mushroom Stroganoff and I think it was the best thing I have ever tasted. There is nothing like this here in California. The menu also was very vegan friendly which was much appreciated. 2. The beers were very good. We tried a couple and the Space race was very good as well as the shade of specter and behmoth. The stout was very rich and tasty. The shade of specter was very yummy and different from the beers I normally get but was very delicious and refreshing. 3. The decor was nice I thought it could have been a little more with the theme but still a very nice place. Very clean and everyone was very friendly.

Small place with great beer, food, and chill vibes! It's a bit loud by the tables, but not too bad for a smaller group of 4 people.

If you are thinking this will be your basic brewery experience. NYET! You would be wrong. An intimate venue. Cozy on a cold, blustery day in fall or winter. The perfect environment for a KGB meet-up to exchange information or other friendly gathering. The beer styles are varied - stouts, IPAs, pils, berliners and all excellent and true to style. Bartender is helpful and friendly unlike those in the former Soviet who will only serve you vodka and a bowl of borscht. Food is also great. Large portions and delightfully Mother Russian. A nice spot to Czech out.

Walked in 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and they treated us like royalty. Food and beer were delicious, service was great. Definitely will be back.

    Modern optics and T-shirt Time
    Jackie K.

First time going to Crime & Punishment and I can't wait to go back! I've heard great things consistently about this place and it did not disappoint. I ordered the T Shirt time which was nice and light and perfect for a summer day. My dad got Modern Optics and he agreed that he ordered well too. My mom, who unfortunately is not a beer drinker, got the house white wine. Given that it was a brewery she didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised that it was really good. We just wanted a quick bite to share and we got the potato pirogies. And OH my god they're amazing. They have this whipped light cheese and truffle oil to go with it perfectly. Definitely order them. We went on a rainy Saturday afternoon and it was surprisingly packed inside. The server and bartender were both sweet and friendly despite it being busy. The people behind us were playing the "What Do You Meme" game and it looked like they had other card games available for people. Everyone was having fun and it felt like good vibes all around.

    Myth Of The Expert...IPA w/Infused Mango...Interesting
    Shane J.

Ok - this is my 2nd visit and I had a friend come with me to check it out this time. I like the intimate space and the food menu. We decided to have the meat and cheese tray with a sample of a few brews. I tried the "Myth Of The Expert" - IPA w/infused Mango - it was a nice and smooth combo - unexpected. The next sampling was the "Space Dog"...IPA fused with pineapple - a bit lighter and easy to drink. My friend enjoyed the Oatmeal Stout and the wheat raspberry beer. We both felt the meat and cheese plate had some interesting choices - pickles, apple chutney, the cheese was funky (we were warned..LOL), but it was damn good!! The staff are friendly and so are the patrons. The space isn't that big, but it is a cool, laid back place for those who want to try some interesting beer combos.

    Pickle bowl
    Marie S.

With inspired brews and filling Eastern European fare to soak up the alcohol, Crime & Punishment is bringing the "brewery" back in "Brewerytown." I loved Space Dogs - smooth, sour IPA with just the right amount of pineapple. The mushroom pelmeni and potato and caramelized onion pierogies were big winners in my book. I was NOT a fan of the pickle bowl. All the veggies were overly salted and there was an unpleasant raw vinegar taste. The picnic benches and friendly service create an inviting, laid back environment that won't tire you out. I will definitely come back on a lazy weekend for beer and dumplings!

    Fancy napkin
    Lupin K.

Probably the best brewery in Philly. (We tried 2nd story, yards, fishtown brewery and 2nd district. Nothing exciting.) Crime and Punishment Brew has some really good stuff at the very reasonable price. The food is fantastic, even the napkin is fancy. You should try this place if you are a craft beer head.

Like literally when we walked in someone was on a mic encouraging others to sing Mario "You Should Let Me Love You" and then went on to more early 00s jams. Inviting to all, but very much a safe space for Blackness. It was what I would hope from Philly's first Black brewery. The food system was pretty cool. No Liberty Kitchen that night, but we ordered through an app and were notified when our food serviced from Corio was ready. They leave it on tray for you to pickup. The cocktail I had was very good and the bartender was friendly. The comedy show was 'eh,' I'll give it a pass. Some were funnier than others, and you could tell a few were still working on their craft. Comedy is hard. Overall, I'm excited for all their offerings like their tours, nearby beer garden and themed events.

The first thing that stands out to me about Two Locals is the huge space with all kinds of amenities. Whether its a seat at the bar, grabbing a seat by a barrel, or grabbing a table for a group of any size; it has the perfect seating arrangement for you. While the brewery side only serves libations the space also features the Landing Kitchen serving all kinds of damn good food. Another plus is the huge variety of games that they have to play, including an ice breakers questions game that made for a good second date activity. The service at Two Locals is great and filled with bartenders who provide good brew suggestions. And I love that Two Locals is a brewery that goes beyond pouring IPAs while also pouring some damn good ones.. Favorite beers of mine from here include the Nubian brown ale, the Gaspar dark Mexican lager, the Riots smoked rauchbier, and the Foway farmhouse saison. For events outside of beer Two Locals features events like a comedy showcase, movie screenings, gospel karaoke, and then some. And starting in Apirl 3rd they'll also be partnering with UCity Square to have a pop-up beer garden in The Lawn.
