I've been to this shop several times. It's a small liquor store right next to Reading Market. They have a limited selection, but their prices are pretty good and less than other stores locally. Here's the issue. They are NOT friendly. They stop you the moment you walk in and very sternly talk AT you for not standing in line the "right" way even though there are literally no signs where they want you. It feels like you are being watched constantly and not trusted. I've come back because of their prices and have felt the same way each time. So although the prices are great- This might not be the place to shop if you are sensitive to being scolded. read more

Stopped here to pick up some wine as we were staying at a nearby hotel. To say this area is dangerous is putting it mildly. You know when customers are limited in the store by the security guard that this place has had issues in the past. While we waited in line outside multiple individuals got into it with either the security guard, store clerk or both. To make matters worse there was only one cash register working. Unfortunately, there are a lot of homeless in this area and this liquor store appears to be the place they pick up their booze of choice. If you are traveling in Pennsylvania and you are not familiar with the arcane liquor laws that is frustrating as well. You can't buy wine at a grocery store and even a liquor store is not able to sell liquor and wine in the same shop as beer. read more

The staff may seem gruff, but their jobs are rough All trying their best. And pick up some red, or maybe a white, Hell, just get some liquor. All I know, all I know is booze will save the day. I know this spot isn't staffed by a bunch of friendly ladies and gents. But you gotta realize they're dealing with a lot of panhandlers, drunk folks, and troublemakers coming in trying to make trouble. The selection is small, but the convenience is huge, and if you're just trying to grab a bottle for a BYOB in the city or a contribution to a house party on your way to Chinatown, the train station, or Center City, you can't beat it. read more

This is the nearest liquor store to my house, which is nice because it's actually not that far. I can remember the liquor store closes in 15 minutes and still make it in time. Not open Sunday though. It's convenient enough because it has all the essentials. It is, however, not a "premium" liquor store as deemed by the PLCB. For that you'll have to go down to Chestnut and 12th Streets. That's fine with me though, as I have no need for a $100+ bottle of wine. My only complaint is that they don't stock shochu. The best part though -- the workers have always been consistently nice to me. If you're from Philly, you'll know this can be a rare treat. With the exception of the staff, this is one of the worst liquor stores I have ever been to. I understand that this location is not one of the superstores, but the selection of items carried is dismal. Even worse, they are frequently out of things that should be in stock. With its proximity to Reading Terminal Market and Market East Station, this store draws a large evening crowd, but rarely has more than one register open leading to a long line that has nowhere to form but down the middle of one of the cramped store aisles. Even better than that, it is the only liquor store I have ever been to where the panhandlers just come inside and work the line for money! I only go here in a pinch on my way home from work, and even then I have accepted that I may walk out empty-handed and have to cut over to the 12th and Chestnut location. I do wish some of the friendly and helpful employees from this store could be "promoted" to the superstore at 12th and Chestnut. read more

Poor customer experience environment. I stopped in to get a bottle of Cava for a friends house warming - a woman was loudy saying to customers as we came in that she had been robbed of her money and that store security was being too slow to getting her the manager - the security guard was saying he was trying to get the cops to come for her - she left - a man entered and the security guard got into a confrontation with him about buying something or getting out - I was willing to ignore all of this until while in line behind a couple who was purchasing wine until the cashier told me "ma'am, the line starts behind the EAGLES sign." - I asked "what sign?" "The EAGLES sign". - it is a sign hanging from the ceiling at the end of an aisle - I moved to be under it - the guy who was behind me in line laughed - I told him "I guess you are now next because I didn't understand the sign rules." he said "no no you're next." the cashier said something under her breath that I couldn't understand - doesn't matter what it was, that was the straw that broke the camels back for me - I got out of line, put my bottle of Cava back, said "this store has had way too much excitement for me today...I'll buy my Cava elsewhere". read more

This liquor store is quite small but quaint and gives off a vibe of familiarity. It's around the corner of Reading Terminal and if you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, it's extremely convenient. This little shop has all your basics and a good variety of wine. The staff at the cash registers were really friendly and sweet. I can definitely get use to this when buying some booze. read more

We buy liquor here on occaision because it is near the Reading Terminal Market. This store is small and crowded. I think the PA liquor laws are really strange and generally nonsensical. A necessary evil. read more

Right next door to Reading Market, it's a convienent place to pick up some booze to take to your hotel, rather than pay a ton to get it from the hotel. For a small store, it had a very decent selection and the prices were average, which was nice, because they could have easily have market everything up a lot for being in such a touristy area. I am celebrating a special award but hate paying hotel prices for a bottle of champagne. Most downtown liquor stores only offer the basics. However, Wine and Spirits has a very nice selection of wines, spirits, and champagne. Across the street from the Marriott on 12th street, this liquor store offers Moet Chandon, Mumms, and Veuve Clicquot at decent prices. They also offer Korbel and Frexinet but as I said, this is a special occasion and 5 stars for a $25.00 bottle of Veuve Clicquot. read more

Although convenient on my way home, this place has one of the WORST selections of whiskey/bourbon I have ever seen at a liquor store. Why even open a liquor store if you aren't going to have quality bourbon? This is America after all. read more

Clean and bright... The prices are no different from anywhere else which is a good thing being smack in the heart of center city.

Aisles of wine with a large selection of premium wines in the back of the store. Nothing too exciting, especially if you're like me. I don't know much about wine, I just know what I don't like. What I don't like, is any bottle of wine over $10. I was able to make it out tonight with a hefty bottle for less than $8. Bottoms up! read more

Terrible customer service here. My wife, who's 27, tried to buy some wine, and had her driver's license confiscated by the clerk who looks like Vizzini from The Princess Bride, because he thought it was fake. It's not. But instead of just taking it or refusing to sell to her, he felt the need to loudly and publicly embarrass her in front of the whole store. He finally returned her ID, reluctantly, only after she brought some cops inside the store, but was still protesting. His manager graciously apologized, but of course, he never did. Obviously he has the duty to ensure that everyone buying alcohol is of legal age, but that is no excuse for such juvenile antics from a middle-aged man. Beware if you have an out-of-state ID or smile too much. And Vizzini, your movies are great, but off the set, stop acting like a child and show people some courtesy. read more
