Well when I take my standard poodle to Petsense, they ask me have everything been done just to confirm that all they needed to do is give him clean feet! for some odd reason, Casey asks to check my dog! She took a look at his ears and informs me that barkers grooming of Lenoir did Not clean his ears but charged me. Casey also pulled clogs of dirty cotton swabs out of his ears and he havent even been there 24 hrs at all! I felt lied to and heartbroken! She also pointed out how they did not cut phantoms nails and file them as they said they did. Apparently barkers dog grooming of Lenoir only gave him a bath and clean face and Nothing else and I was also lied to and told not to cut his puppy coat which would have caused him to matt up due to the adult coat coming in. I paid $82.40 just to have to have Casey fix the issue for me (which she did free of charge due to the fact that I had already overspent). I will always take my poodle to Petsense and Casey referred me to Emily who could do pom-poms on his feet and cut him the way I would like for him to be cut and she did not have to do that. It was done out of the kindness of her heart. I feel they wanted to rush and get him done at barkers grooming just because phantom was a fill in and I could of been told to come back before charging me and half doing the job! I really will never ever be taking him to anybody else but Petsense due to the fact they made my dog look just how I wanted him to look without irritating his ears or shoving him in a kennel! I spoke to the manager Angie at barkers dog grooming, she had every excuse it the book instead of offering to fix the issue, After leaving a horrible review on their website, she later called me and offered to give me a refund and was professionally rude to me, I did Nothing to deserve this and I will never go back! Thanks petsense for making my dog look how I wanted ! Emily has a forever Client at Petsense and was actually cheaper and the job was actually done! Within 3 hours! I advise you to not take your doggie to Barker's grooming in lenoir because there are other options. Thanks Petsense for fixing the issue !

The cats were healthy, had been chipped, and we're up to date on their shots. Nine years later, my girls are still going strong! I have volunteered there as well. Their Kibble Crew works very hard to bag hundreds of pounds of dog and cat food to give away to the community. I can't imagine how much food has been given out. The shelter is always clean. The staff there is knowledgeable and their top priority is the animals. I recommend them every chance I get.

It's smaller than most shelters but that seems to lend itself to less stress & more attention to the animals. They have an adult cat room that is filled with plush beds and outdoor access. On the wall there are magnetic pics of who is for adoption with a professional picture & their name. There is a separate kitten room where the antics are captivating. Dogs are separated far enough away from cats to minimize any anxiety. The staff is very friendly and helpful, willing to give any info they can on a particular animal. I highly recommend this Humane Society if you are looking for a fur-ever companion. They also have a thrift store you can donate and buy an array of great finds from. The store is located in city of Hendersonville

Our new place down here isn't big enough to handle fosters, but we still want to help out all those poor kitties. The shelter is set up to hold about sixty cats at a time (not sure how many dogs), though when we went there were under twenty of them. The cages are very spacious and clean which is important to not only the cat's health but to make them more "attractive" to prospective parents who drop in. There is also a nice little wooded area set aside as a dog walking trail, so there is a nice place where their dogs can get some exercise. The employee at the front desk was very friendly and appreciative of our donation. The location is a little off the beaten path but still worth visiting if you're looking to bring home a new family member. The cost to adopt a cat is $85 and it's $95 for a dog. I would highly recommend adopting over purchasing from a breeder or somewhere else.

The shelter staff were extremely friendly and helpful, quickly bringing all 3 puppies to meet us and our friend in a relatively clean visiting room, complete with 2 chairs and a handful of toys. We played for the puppies for a while, and they obviously get 5 stars for playfulness and cuteness. After we had inevitably picked out the little runt we had first seen online, the staff came back and took the other two so we could see how she was alone, then they told us a little bit more about her and her litter's history. We then filled out a little bit of paperwork while our baby Poppy, formerly known as Ganondorf, was taken back to be microchipped and get one final checkup from the vet there. Then, for only $170 (plus a refundable deposit of $100 promising we would spay her when she is old enough), we got to walk out with the sweetest 2 month old puppy, a bag of her food, several toys, a coupon to a pet store in town for even more free food and treats, and the promise of a free spay surgery (on top of getting the $100 deposit back) if we bring her back there and use their surgeon. All in all this was a fantastic monetary value, and of course we are absolutely enamored with our new little buddy. 1 month later, I can say she's been an absolute gem so far. She's relatively well behaved for a puppy, which is probably just genetics and good luck driving her temperament, but she is also brave and very well socialized, despite us not taking her out much since she isn't fully vaccinated against parvo yet. The socialization, I attribute to the Watauga Humane Society, as it is very clear she was raised surrounded by love, and given plenty of care and attention.
