Unpleasant telephone experience with a sarcastic volunteer who had an "Holy-er than Thou" attitude…read more After being told that I would not be eligible to adopt from their business, especially considering that I don't live within a four hour driving distance. (Originally from Mars Hill, NC, visiting family in Etowah, NC, currently living in Vermont.) I lamented that in this instance their policies would be denying a dog a good and loving home, and ended the call. Five minutes later, the same, self anointed "Director of Phone Etiquette" volunteer called back to chastise me, and my attitude. She ACTUALLY called back to put me in my place. (Hence the 1 star rating.) After a heated exchange, she told me to "Go back to the 'North' where you came from!" and ended the call. I think if I were an actual 'Northerner' I might have been offended by that statement. Keep this in mind my Northern neighbors who have moved to the area. Your 'Northern Dollars' might not be wanted if making donations. I feel sorry for this frustrated woman and anyone who has to encounter her. They were able to give us many options from a local kill shelter (without us feeling pressured- really!) and then followed through with all the information we could ask for about the dogs we were interested in. Jillian was constantly available and willing to work with us when it came to transportation for our new pup. We received constant updates with pictures from both Jillian and Chad, which made us feel included through the entire adoption process; from them pulling him out from the kill shelter and then rehabilitating him until we were able to adopt. We got constant training updates so we felt ready and prepared for him when we brought him home. He is already settling in nicely, alive and happy! Thank you so much!!

I get a call a week later toray now for the first time after they have been there for almost a month that they KILLED the dog I was going to adopt. No phone call no email no nothing just me asking to be updated on them for 2 weeks for a call multiple times to see what was going on and got nothing until they finally felt to call me a week after they KILLED him and told me he was put down for being aggressive... this dog in the time we watched him from finding him as a stray and him living with us for almost 4 weeks he didn't hurt us or anyone else or even try to. he never growled at nothing. Again no phone call asking if I can get him before they make a permanent decision and end a young dogs life that had a guaranteed home. We turned in 2 wonderful stray dogs wanting a shot at life and love nursed them back to health and just needed them to get them checked out and fixed so we can move to a bigger house to fit and adopt them ... we were going to adopt both the 28th of this month and what we got back from them after we left today one dead and the other sick. We're heart broken absolutely devastated. If you find a stray and ever have hopes of adopting it or seeing it again DONT TAKE THEM HERE PLEASE DONT TAKE THEM !!! They are heartless and I asked why I was never called all I got was nothing from them !!! Heartless and not a very "humane " society.

The PAID STAFF are simply the coldest rudest Humans I have ever worked with. They treat volunteers horribly. Rude and heartless. I fostered my kitty Debra and then adopted her. Not one of them ever mentioned or asked about her. I sent a few photo to them and was told never do that again. That the message thread was strictly for business only. What planet are they on? I Knitted many ADOPTION blankets that went home with the babies and really helped them feel loved and cared for. The staff made very little of it and hardly thanked me although I do it for the precious animals and not for humans. I never said no to anything asked of me and always showed up for my volunteer work never did I miss. Even did my Birthday fundraiser on Facebook and made money for them. I was treated so poorly that I cried many times by myself while driving home. I now volunteer for another wonderful rescue and shelter in the area and it's like a breath of fresh air. Although the Asheville Humane Society has and does help many precious bundles of joy I will say that they do it and get highly paid for that. You can go online and see their salaries. Volunteers‍ ‍ to them are invaluable and they don't care anything about us. It's all about the money . I refuse to put up with human bull crap including so called animal rescues. I will be the change this world wishes to see even if it means telling the truth and being an outcast. The universe is what serve and not silly egotistical humans. We have adopted 4 dogs from now from Brother Wolf. All have been a very good experience and we have had nothing but great experiences from them. We feel so lucky to have been able to love each one that passed through our home over the years. Brother Wolf rescues so many animals, dogs, and cats but also other animals. I am amazed they can keep track of them all! I think that is why it is usually a bit chaotic when we go there. But our experiences have always been good ones. Adopt the older ones! They need good homes and are so appreciative.

She was sick when she got here -- vomiting and diarrhea, sometimes with blood in her stool. We took her to our vet, only to find that she had an intestinal parasite. Total cost to cure: over $500. She has also been a constant behavioral problem -- destroying furniture. Worst of all, she is afraid of almost everything -- from the first day she arrived. The Crockett trainer said she was shy -- hardly. It's as if she were traumatized as a very young puppy. She is the product of a Lancaster, PA puppy mill. The Crockett people should be driven out of business. We spent thousands of dollars for a dog that is a constant problem.

My dog would only poop in the kennel which means they were trained or left in their kennel without potty breaks so they became used to doing it the kennel. The trainer, who is training my puppy in person, trains service dogs and found puppies that were fed and kept in kennels were more apt to do their business in the kennel - they had been trained to do so. . What was even more depressing is that they give a bible with their goodie bag! I think the original owner had good intentions at first but they have strayed from their original agenda. DID NOT BUY FROM THEM!!
