Quoting a business , like yours, that operates on the property of The GA World Congress Center, GA Dome, and Phillips Arena brings with it additional requirements that require a longer turn around time than a typical quote. This quote had to be approved by underwriting which took 24 business hours. Four days did pass but you did not mention that you were counting Saturday and Sunday. The quote was requested Friday and delivered Monday.....which was the next business day. The Georgia Dome referred this account to us because we are one of a few agencies that have been able to repeatedly satisfy their detailed insurance lrequirements to operate at large events ( NFL games, NBA games, concerts, etc.) We have successfully insured over 30 businesses just like this one. He's a big talker and made me feel more than qualified with my past sales and loan officer experience even without ever working commercial finance at all. He was speaking about making good money the first 30 days and then promoting me into management and saying that might even be a pay cut for you but I won't cut your pay until you pull in that commission. I point asked if a salary plus commission since I was not seeking any 100% commissions jobs. He insured me he had to provide a base to good qualified people or he couldn't get them. He spoke fast and in circles but lead me to believe a base of $35K plus commissions and after 30 days if I moved into management then I would rise to a $40K base and have a team working under me where I received overrides and bonus but I was trying to stay more focused on the present one step at a time but as I said he talks big and in circle. The Ad says they have been in business for 16 years which he's had the company name but the business is really just beginning and he has no one on board other than one old friend co-worker that's been there for more than 2 months less than a month. I was downsized some time ago from a major IT company and had done some part time work to keep afloat but decided it was time to return full time. My instinct told me something was not correct one interview and hired no references or anything. He said he wanted to get me started with a group on Monday Oct 5th. It only took a few days of working there to see this place was a mess and there was no structure at all. They were having major IT issues and phone problems all interconnected and with my past IT experience I put out some calls and he brought in an IT guy who I recommended to fix the issues. My job the first 30 days was to go through resumes they had advertised for Loan Officers in the field and hire them. He said he had tons but was as tight with them as no get out even with me working hard. They more or less will take anyone even if they are a total misfit for this position. They say a $99 charge to do a background check. They say a local, state and Federal but my guess is one if even that and if you asked for the 3 copies of the report you paid for you would never see it. He told me he didn't care if the loan officers make it or not. He wanted them to bring some deals and said he would provide those leads. He said that business would still come back to him and I guess he could cut out the middle man. He also said he would recirculate the leads given to the loan officer. I asked what if they had success he said the more they heard the company name from different loan officers the better. I smelled many rats by now and my heart was not into this job. I confronted him point blank on my first Friday after 5 days working and said you misrepresented this job to me and I see no reason to move forward. He talked big stuff again and used my sense of commitment against me. I decided to give it one more week and see if I received any money. I did sign up 3 Loan Officers but I made sure it was people who had the right stuff and could be successful in this industry. It was just my choice there were 2 to 3 others I could have "sold" but my gut said they are not right and I had to do what I thought was right. Over the weekend on Sunday Joe sent me a text firing me. He said I was not right for this position and I have not closed enough loan officers. Now that's a first fired by a text. My advice to anyone taking a job with this company gets it in writing. If you are a loan officer I would ask for a commission payout in writing and say any leads are 100% yours and no one else works them as long as I'm a contract worker with your organization. I also would ask for a minimum of three loan officers' references and request all three copies of the reports you paid for the local, state and federal one. It appears only Joe and his family is the only ones making any money and maybe his onetime long friend. Start your review...
