The problem is that I hired someone to perform work in my house, not to be my friend. I hired Steve to paint my entire place, and went with him because compared to the other 7 quotes I received, his price was towards the bottom and his reviews were strong. Buyer beware on this. Look at the dates of the reviews and see how few of them are from within the past 5 years. Steve came to paint one room a few weeks before doing the rest of the house. I was disappointed from the start. First off, the don't start before 9am, and are gone by 3pm, so with a lunch break, you are really only getting about a half days work. The room was completely empty, and very basic to paint. Grey walls and white trim. I came home to find coverage issues all over the place with the grey. Since the walls were a cream color before, it should have been very easy to see coverage problems. The line work was a mess and there was white paint on the grey walls and vice versa. I thought this might have just been an off day, so I decided not to fire him based on this. I asked him to fix the issues. He needs you to not only point issues out, but even with putting notes up showing the issues, talking to him in person about the issues, they were still not all fixed. When he continued the project, I kept noticing sloppy work all over. I was told walls had two coats of paint when they very clearly had one. Baseboards were not painted to the floor like I specifically asked for. Paint was dripped on brand new light fixtures that I asked him to be mindful of. Paint will spilled on my floors and not cleaned up well. The windows were not scraped of paint that got on them after the were painted. Holes were not patched well. He caulks the ever-living crap out of everything, and does not do it well. I have separation between surfaces after only a few months. After I kept pointing issues out over and over again, and he was not addressing all of them, making comments to my girlfriend about how I am expecting perfection and he is doing the best he can, he decided to quit. Only after I offered him more money to finish (because frankly it would have cost me just as much to hire someone else if not more) did he agree to come back. It took him 4 months of rescheduling over and over to actually make it back. The work was just as sloppy and the mistakes were still not fixed when I asked them to be. I personally spent over 8 hours prepping rooms in my house for him to make it as easy as possibly. I spent another 8 hours noting for him all of the mistakes that needed fixing. And now I still have another 8 hours of my time I need to spend fixing the mistakes that he did not fix. I have to hiring cleaning people to clean all the paint that he got on every surface of my house, and a plumber to clean out my kitchen sink to which has drainage issues from him washing brushes in, as opposed to using my utility sink. I have hundreds of dollars worth of new lighting fixtures with paint on them I cannot get off, and scratches on my furniture I cannot get out. When I am paying someone thousands of dollars, I want it to be perfect. It took me 7 years of living there to have it painted, and I might not paint again before I move out. This was the one time I was going to do this, and I have drip marks and caulk all over the place. If I was selling tomorrow, I would not care. But I am not. Steve might have once been a great painter, but I clearly caught someone at the end of their career who just does not have it anymore, and makes me wonder if they ever did.

Crystal was easy to communicate with, she made the appointments, responded to any concerns, and provided the invoices immediately. They had all of the proper paperwork needed right away. Tom came on time for the estimate. Tom's estimate was accurate, he is easy to work with and hired a team of professional painters. The painters came every day on time, all of the painters spoke excellent English, so there was never a problem with communication. While on site the painters were neat, worked diligently, and took appropriate lunch breaks. This was an easy project thanks to the professionalism of Crystal, Tom, and all of the painters at Blue Door. I will definitely hire them for personal projects as well.

By the looks of it, Living Social is giving him a lot of business and unfortunately he doesn't have the crew or organization skills to handle the volume of work. At first, it was extremely hard to even get a confirmed time to paint my place once Nathan came in and gave me an estimate. There was a lot of talk and promises to get back to me ASAP which never happened until I nagged over and over to please put something on the calendar. I don't think this business has a calendar. Appointments are handled via text and need constant babysitting/reminders to make sure that they actually happen. Don't get me wrong, Nathan is a nice person but is simply incapable of executing. He told me that he didn't have enough people to do the work and that he was hiring more contractors. I was annoyed but content thinking that it must mean his company does great work. Right? Wrong. When I finally had the appointment finalIzed, 2 guys showed up who clearly did not want to be there. They took breaks to smoke and relax and complained about the amount of work they have to do. Like what? Weren't you hired to do the work and aren't you getting paid for it? Mind you, it's not a 5 bedroom mansion we are talking about. I have a 1 bedroom apartment that is 810 sq ft. Ok, complain away as long as the quality of work was good, right? Wrong again. I am attaching the pics of their work for you to see, just so that you know I'm not just venting. I have hardwood floors and it was splattered with paint because they didn't have enough coverings to protect the floor. In fact they arrived with NO floor covers at all and had to leave to bring them. What painting pros get to the work site without basic necessities to do the job? The paint drops were alsoon my bathroom window, tiles and sinks. They also messed up my coat rack because instead of taking it off the wall, they decided to paint around it and of course painted directly on the mahogany wood of the rack. When I noticed what they did, they promptly removed the rack and tried to remove said paint and when all of it didn't come off, they gave me an advice on how to remove it myself. There were so many spots on walls that weren't painted through, I stopped counting and pointing them out. By 5pm one of the contractors faded entirely and just sat there talking about what he's going to do when he gets home and what type of food he's going to eat. So I paid them, saw them out and immersed myself in paint removal off the floor and other surfaces. I texted Nathan the next day and told him about my experience. I sent him the pics of the shoddy work. He appeared to be furious and straight out said "You're absolutely right. I just don't see how they did such crappy work... I'm going to give them a call to see what hell... That's just pure laziness and carelessness." I was being understanding and told him that he should probably reconsider hiring these guys again if he cares about the reputation of his business as much as he says he does. He promised to come out and fix everything as soon as possible. We scheduled for Friday afternoon and... I didn't hear from him. Two Friday's later, I sent him a text and told him that he obviously doesn't care about the company's reputation and that I don't even want to deal with this anymore. Needless to say, I do not recommend this business to anyone. Stay away.

The painter climbed on top of our pergola and broke it in many spots from his weight. We had to have him come back out several times to touch up spots he missed. Finally he just left us paint and a brush and told us to do it ourselves? The old lumber was left on the side of our house with nails sticking out. Fast forward to when the snow melted April 2020. Out paint was already badly peeling. We contacted the company and they said yes, this was their issue and they would correct it. Now, 7 months later, the issue remains uncorrected and they will not return our calls, texts, or emails. I am left to believe this company is a scam. Beware.
