This is as much a zero-star review for myself as a five-star review for James and Titan. I asked James to connect on a project, and he got right back to me. Then I left him hanging for two weeks, while we tried to figure out whether/what we would paint in our new home. Finally, we decided to get estimates. I reached out again to James, who quickly replied and scheduled a time for an estimate. In between, we decided to get what we could get painted by a crew who do work for a family business. I meant to call James, but between work, moving, other contractors, I completely forgot. James showed up on time for the estimate to find a crew already working. I deserved a cursing out, which James didn't give me. I completely hosed the guy, and he maintained professionalism throughout. If consumers can drag contractors, contractors should be able to drag us too. But since they can't, I'll eat crow and acknowledge that I screwed up royally. I would not use them ever again. They forced me to pay for a 3rd coat after the 2nd day of them working claiming the 2nd coat was not enough to cover the walls. I "paid extra" for Sherwin Williams Emerald paint too. The thing is, I literally painted the same walls with the same colors with the same paint and did it in 2 coats. They claim I applied too much paint that resulted in "texture", but their walls were very textured and splotchy. I ended up having to apply another coat around the edges myself because they didn't apply a "3rd" coat around the edges with a brush. There's a large laundry list of other things why I would not use them, but this is my honest review of my own experience. read more

We have used Titan twice now- once to stain our fence to keep it from turning that awful dated color and again to paint several rooms inside our home. The crew did a great job inside our home and I've yet to find an area where they were lax. It was a 2 day job that involved a lot of sanding- they covered everything and placed a tarp at the bottom of the stairs to help keep the dust to a minimum downstairs. They also vacuumed several times throughout the process. I am pregnant, we have a 2 year old, and 12 lb dog that I wanted to protect as much as possible. The cost was reasonable and we recommend Titan for your painting/staining needs. read more

We were very impressed with Titan Painting! We had to get the exterior of our house as well as our fence painted/stained this year. Dave was very quick to respond to our initial inquiry and come out to provide a quote. Not only did he show up on time, he also had a folder that include brochures and a certificate of insurance as well. Just that alone was impressive! He also was careful to go over exactly what was included in the quote, as well as point out a few repairs he noticed were needed in order to build it into the quote so we knew what to expect. Another bonus is that Dave offers the services of someone to help choose paint colors if you are stuck. We have a family member who is an interior designer, so we didn't use that service, but I thought it was really great and worth mentioning. When it came time to do the work, the crew Dave sent did a great job. They were quick, cleaned up after themselves when they were done working, and were friendly and polite. We got comments from neighbors and even delivery drivers about how great our house looked. A couple of months later, we had some painting we needed done in the house - some new baseboards and built in bookshelves. We asked Dave to come out and give an estimate. Again, he was quick to respond, and we were able to get on the schedule relatively quickly. The person who came out to paint this time was again friendly, polite, and cleaned up after himself every day. They arrived early, which you'd think was great, but as we are not yet living in the house and were about 5 mins late, they had already left without even making a phone call. Update***There were a few bumps in the road but I commend the owner and James for coming by the final day to see how the job was coming along. I left 1 star off for he communication issue and for the need to have James point out areas to fix to his staff on the last day. This was in addition to me having to flag areas with tape that needed correction something which I wasn't expecting to do. There are still a few areas that I can spot but overall the house looks great and I have received compliments. The owner and James takes pride in the company and really cares about their customer satisfaction. Their staff was professional but I feel just stretched thin during a busy season which is probably hard to adjust with the crazy Chicago weather!! Thank you, Titan and I would recommend your services in the future. Having trouble with communication which is sad because I really like the staff and was really exited to have titan perform our exterior house work. Our job was quoted as 2 days and we are on day 3 but haven't seen anyone for the last 3 (sunny, nice weather) days. Unsure of when the work will be completed! Just had our painting job finished. Titan Painting did a great, professional job. We called Dave first for an estimate and he had it to us in a day. He also said he could start the following Monday. Dave's crew worked diligently for four days to complete wall paper stripping and painting in two bathrooms and painting a bedroom. They did a great job with a very difficult task, namely removing very stubborn wallpaper that happened to be two layers. They patched up holes and the paint job was very neat. They completed the work timely. Upon leaving, they placed everything where it was and also cleaned up and vacuumed any dust that was left. This was very nice because I didn't have to do much with clean up after they left. The crew was always on time (big plus!), courteous, professional, and the painting jobs were done well. First time have written a negative review on Yelp. Have been hesitant to do so as Dave, James and crew seem to be genuinely good people. However, the results are the bottom line. Paid them good money to paint my garage doors and they look way worse than before (bubbling/peeling - see photo) AND both garage door units are on the verge of breaking from the strain caused by the doors/panels that now stick since their paint job. James was initially responsive and did make couple attempts at resolving the problem. But no fix. Still looks the same - terrible. It seems apparent that the only solution may now be to purchase 2 new garage doors. Frustrating. Titan told me they would fix this problem and/or provide resolution. Excellent paint job, excellent service! We hired Titan back in June to repaint the entire interior of our 3,000 square foot home that we had just purchased. James was great to deal with- he came to estimate the house and gave us an estimate we thought was very reasonable. The price included all necessary supplies (note that he has exclusive agreements with Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore, so those will be your paint selections if you want the best price). His crew showed up on time each day and it took about a week to complete the job. Afterwards, we noticed a few areas that needed touching up and James was quick to address them to our satisfaction. We loved the work so much that when my wife decided after a couple months that she didn't like one of the bathroom colors, we hired Titan again to come back and paint it a different color. Again, James was quick to provide an estimate and was able to schedule the work within a few days (as it was a small job). We had a lot of work done on our house this year and getting the work done in the right order required extra patience for the companies. James was my salesperson and he gave me a prompt estimate. I told him we would like them to paint the exterior of our house but not until the new roof was put on. I wanted to make sure the new house color went well with the new roof. With all the hail damaged roofs being replaced this year, it took awhile to get ours done and I was so worried the weather would change and we wouldn't get painted. I was so happy they got us on the schedule as soon as the roof was done. The crew were all really nice guys and they did a great job. I really appreciated the suggestions for what sheens they recommended for the house siding vs. the garage doors. Their suggestions were just right and our house looks so good that we've had compliments from people who didn't even know we just had it painted. There were a couple of paint drips on our paver patio and I was worried about damaging the pavers by trying to get it off myself. I contacted James and he sent the guys who had just the right cleaner to take it off and not damage the pavers. Professionalism and Quality We just had our entire house and basement painted. We have a really big house and full basement and the job Dave and his crew did was outstanding! The crew was always at our home extra early each morning and several days stayed very late well after 5pm, which we were so impressed with. I have hardly ever seen done companies that perform any type of contracting work stay so late. The crew was extremely professional, super hard working and courteous to us the entire week. What my wife really appreciated is the fact Dave sent a paint specialist at no charge to our home prior to the painting to go over various paint swatches for each of our rooms throughout the house.
