I called Spectrum Improvements for an estimate on interior painting. Dennis arrived as he said he would. Spent at least 45 minutes talking over what I needed/wanted. He stated he would have an estimate by the end of the weekend (Superbowl weekend). I never heard from him. I took one more chance on him and called his number, left a message regarding waiting for an estimate. I never heard back from him. I believe it is poor business practice to say you will do something and then,,,,, not do it. Sorry it turned out that way. Oh well!!! read more

I hired Dennis and team to paint the exterior of my home back in September of last year. I waited some time to write this review as i wanted to see how everything held up after the job was complete. Dennis took a considerable amount of time with me walking my property and explaining what the job would entail. He also provided recommendations on what i should do and what worked well for him in the past. Dennis uses Sherwin Williams paint so he asked that i go to a store and pick out exactly what color i wanted. We decided on a color and sent it over to him. The color that we chose needed a certain primer behind it in order for it to be true to color. Dennis knew so much about paint and what the color i chose was comprised of. He made alternative recommendations on colors based on what i was looking for. I chose an alternate color based on his recommendation but he went above and beyond and bought a gallon of the original color i chose just so i could see a side by side comparison. He was right on the money with his recommendation and we opted to go with it. He said that his team would be out on a specific day and time and he was indeed there. Its so hard to find people these days to follow through with what they say but he did and in every way. They needed to put two coats of stain on the house and it took the better part of five full days to do it. Dennis, the owner, was present every day and working with his team. The house is somewhat difficult to navigate as it is pretty big but they did a terrific job. I went from a completely grey house to a navy blue with white accents. Their lines were sharp and the color consistent all around the house. They caulked the areas that needed to be and he worked around me as i needed to install a new rear door for my garage. The communication was awesome and there were no surprises. He even let me use a tool of his as i was installing the rear door and helped with the installation when he didnt need to. Upon completion of the job...He cleaned up and you could hardly tell that he and his team had been there for 5 days. Upon further inspection...There were just a couple of spots that needed to be touched up as would be expected for such a large job. He came back after the job was complete and payment made to make the minor touch ups needed. He owned the job from beginning to end and it was a breath of fresh air to work with someone like him. I literally had at least 10 people stop by the house to comment on how good it looked. I would recommend Spectrum to anyone looking for interior or exterior painting and will most likely be hiring him again soon once i need the interior of the house completed. read more

I realized that now "word of mouth" can very well by searching online. Yes, we never know if what is posted is truly a consumer. I am so glad I spoke to Dennis and ended up hiring him to paint the exterior of my home. He was the only painter who said I should not use satin type of paint for my cedar home. The previous owners did and had the home painted vs. stained, which was wrong. Dennis pointed out, after me questioning him a few times, that if he were to apply more satin paint it would appear shiny. So, for the cedar plus soffit and fascia it is now just beautiful--with flat paint. And, he was patient with me going down my list of some 20+ questions. I received his up-to-date insurance policy within 15 minutes of him calling. I felt very comfortable with Dennis, following my gut feel that he was an honest businessman. I ended up speaking to 7--yes, 7--because there were a few who said things that didn't make sense. I couldn't have communicated as easily with them, so in the long run it was a very good decision on my part. Watch out for anyone who wants money up front. Contractors have been known to disappear after starting; my neighbors had that experience. Dennis has many years experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone...don't think you will be sorry. I am very, very pleased. read more
