The most skilled, experienced and most importantly, honest mechanic I ever had. He has always take his time to walk me through with the problems my vehicle has and what he recommended. He has been working on all of my vehicles for years. Never disappointed and always amazed by the wonderful job he did. He never get tired of explaining to me if I don't understand. I trusted him with whatever he recommends when it comes to my car. If he says I needed then I won't question it and that build in years of my own personal experience having him fix my vehicles. The radiator in my wife's 2012 Chev Colorado began leaking just as the temperatures started to dip below -20. I replaced the radiator myself about a year ago. We tried to put off replacing it until the weather warmed up. I don't have a heated facility. The radiator leak got worse. It was now loosing about a half a gallon overnight! I had a trip out of town planned to visit my aging mother and needed the radiator replaced bad! I called Brian to see if he could help. He got me in right away, replaced the faulty radiator, flushed and pressure tested the coolant system. Brian went even further to research where I had purchased the radiator and discovered the previous radiator was faulty and covered under warranty! Awesome service! Great, friendly staff. I have been taking my vehicles to Brian's Auto Repair since 2010. He has worked all my vehicles since. Brian is very knowledgable when it comes to all automotive repair. I've had him work on a 1982 Volkswagen Van, 2008 Chevy Cobalt, and 1999 Subaru Forester. The first person I go to when I need a diagnosis is Brian. The most recent repairs have been for the 1999 Subaru Forester. I began to hear a clicking in the front end while making accelerated turns from a stopped position. Brian Diagnosed it as a bad CV-Shaft. Sure enough, he found which one was clicking and removed it to show me what was wrong. After viewing the part, it was clear that the CV-Shaft was worn out. Brian re-installed the new CV-Shaft and there was no clicking left. While under the vehicle, he also found a few spots where my engine was leaking oil. He informed me that Subaru's are notorious for head gasket leaks and told me it wasn't a big deal to fix it now, but to keep an eye on the leak and to call him if it begins to leak worse. Brian's pricing beats his competitors, and he is never pushy with repairs. If he see's something that is wrong while under the hood, he will give you his honest opinion and an accurate quote on what it would cost to fix it. I took my 2003 Subaru to Brian when I had broken down. His diagnosis was that I had a stuck valve, and the heads needed to be rebuilt. I researched what that entailed and the symptoms it would show. I believe he was correct. After he started the repairs, he said I needed a new clutch as well, I agreed to doing that too, as well as timing belt and water pump. $3,000 later, and I never received any of the receipts from the replacement parts he used. After he was done with it, the first drive home (20 minutes away) I smelled A LOT of raw fuel. Got home and there was fuel squirting all over my intake manifold (there was no existing problems with my fuel lines before!) and dripping down. Inspected it and he forgot to reattach hose clamps on one of my fuel lines. When I took it back to him, he jumped in to fixing it. I watched him slide the jack under my car and start jacking it up without even looking at what he was doing, he bent the heck out of my 200+ dollar sway stabalizer bar, he denied it was him that did it. I've been under my own car at least 50 times doing my own maintenance and knew my car very well. Thanks Brian. About a week later on a long distance drive, I got a check engine light (found out it was because of a big hole in my catback portion of my exhaust that wasn't there before... wonder how that happened. Thanks Brian. Untimately I called Brian to express how I was pretty disappointed in his work and how he created a lot of other issues. He just got defensive, rude and blamed it on my car. I will never do business with Brian French auto in Jefferson City Montana again, nor will I ever recommend his shotty work to anyone. Good luck getting him to stand behind his work!
