I felt it was the prefect opportunity to post my review of the facility and its employees. From start to finish I received top notch service from any person I came in contact with there. My doctors office set up the surgery and I was contacted promptly by the scheduling team at Blackstone. Once I filled out my online info sheet, Pat called me and went over all of my info. Upon arrival at Blackstone, I was greeted by Anne, a friendly face who checked me in. I waited for a very short time and the I was then called in to the pre-op room where I met my surgical team. Another reviewer said it's an open room with chairs (which is true) however I have seen this type of a set up at RI hospital so I didn't find it to be odd or not private. Diana from anesthesia came to pre-op to meet me and she was awesome. She started my IV and then explained what was going to be happening. My Doctor, Dr Mancini, then came and went over the procedure, marked my surgical sites, and what I should expect in the days to come. Linda, my nurse then came to go over my procedure and walked me down to the operating room. Lynn had the room nice and warm so I was comfortable when I entered. Once there everyone went to work and I was asleep. I woke up in the recovery room with more smiling faces and attentive nursing staff. They made sure I was comfortable as far as pain went and also offered me something to drink and eat. My husband came to pick me up and at that point they went over my recovery orders for at home. Dr Mancini also came by to go over at him care. All and all I had a fantastic experience here. Any place I visited in the facility was clean and organized. The entire staff is dedicated to making sure their patients are given the best service possible. If I ever need surgery again and the option to have it at Blackstone Valley Surgicare is offered, I absolutely will.

I visited several Independent Living homes and the Village was by far the best. It's set on top of a hill overlooking Waterman lake which is breathtaking from spring through fall. The facility is immaculate and the staff goes out of their way to make sure the residents have the resources they need. One of the first things I noticed when my parents moved in was how friendly and welcoming the other residents are. You can tell people enjoy being there, and my parents did too for their short time there. Their health deteriorated faster than any of us expected and they both needed to be moved quickly into the nursing home. If you meet Moriah, the general manager, (or house mom as my parents called her), she is always dressed to the nines with flawless make-up and four inch heels. When my dad needed to be moved to the nursing home, I noticed she had swapped out her skirt and heels for jeans and sneakers. She and two of the facility nurses pushed my dad down to the nursing home in a rolling recliner to make sure he could be moved comfortably and safely. She did the same for my mom when it was her turn. Moriah set-up the move in days and pushed my mom's wheelchair, this time in her heels, to her new room. If my parents had still been in North Carolina when their health crashed, or in a less accommodating facility, I don't know what I would have done. Every staff member in that place from the top to the bottom did what they needed to do to take care of my parents, and that is an invaluable service when you are dealing with aging loved ones.

You can feel the difference in the level of care and attention that goes into everything. The cleanliness is consistently impressive, and the recent upgrades have made the environment even more welcoming and inviting. It doesn't feel institutional, it feels thoughtfully maintained and comfortable. The nursing staff are attentive, compassionate, and clearly dedicated to the well-being of the residents. Just as importantly, the maintenance team is always on top of things, any issue that comes up is handled quickly and efficiently, which speaks volumes about how well the facility is run. The Pezzelli family truly sets the tone. They are warm, involved, and genuinely care about both their residents and their staff. That kind of leadership creates a positive atmosphere you can really notice. Overall, a place that reflects pride, care, and commitment in every aspect.

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Would Strongly Advise Against Using Bayada…read more After major surgery, my husband's surgeon arranged for 10 days of at-home nursing care through Bayada, which included daily injections. What followed was a frustrating and unacceptable experience from start to finish. Day 1: Nurse arrived over two hours late. She was visibly unfit and struggled to walk 10' (from the driveway to the front door) requiring her to rest on the sofa before walking another 10' to the bedroom, where she required another rest break (by sitting on the bed). (Note, all one level, no stairs involved.) She spent the vast majority of the brief visit complaining about her own physical discomfort and left saying, "I don't know if I can come back." Days 2-4: No nurse showed up. No phone call. No communication. No resolution when we reached out to the office. We were left with no choice but to administer the injections ourselves--completely defeating the purpose of professional care. Day 5: A different nurse arrived 2.5 hours late, took vitals and a blood sample, then quickly left. It was the only semblance of proper care we received. Days 6-10: Once again, no one came. No calls. No follow-up. Total silence from Bayada. Then, 2 months later, we received a surprise bill for $850 from a lab located five states away. Our insurance declined the claim because the lab was out-of-network. After weeks of back-and-forth and numerous calls to both Bayada and the lab, we discovered the Day 5 nurse had held onto the blood sample while on vacation and eventually dropped it off at the out-of-network lab. It took nearly a year to resolve, but thankfully, we were not held responsible for the charge. But the ordeal added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time. Bottom line: Our experience with Bayada was marked by unprofessionalism, lack of reliability, and poor communication. If you're seeking competent, consistent home health care--look elsewhere. ETA: This review should be under PROVIDENCE, RI

Bottom of the barrel Healthcare…read more So after being stabilized at Roger Williams's hospital, I spent three weeks in Elmhurst nursing home to recover from pneumonia. However, the lack of proper basic hygienic care and the mistakes they made with my medication, as well as the maltreatment by staff and the incompetency by CNAs, nurses, nurse practitioners and administrators led to my being rehospitalized with three secondary infections - some of which were serious. After my first week there I wanted to get a transfer to another facility and started gathering testimony from the different professional caregivers (non-staff) who work at other facilities, most of whom confirmed to me that they feel helpless at addressing these problems in this facility... They take for granted that the Marquis group corporate owners, will not allow them to get either the staffing or the supplies they need at that place to provide proper care, and after talking with different residents, I can see that both subacute care patients as well as long-term residents have the same complaints... I regret not documenting accurately enough to file a lawsuit, but I am filing complaints with the Rhode Island health department and publishing reviews everywhere I can online to let the world know, this place is BOTTOM OF THE BARREL as far as nursing homes go... what is taken for granted there is that mistakes (some of which will be life-threatening) WILL be made and the general attitude of staff is "not my fault, not my job, not my problem". The State needs to investigate how they operate that facility, they need inspections and auditing... The national Health review board has already removed their rating. There are 200 beds and nowhere near enough staff and a lot of serious medication errors and total lack of competency going on there.
