This place had been on my list of breweries to check out, but it was too far away to ever make the cut. Guy's trip to the rescue! I finally made it up there in July, and was not disappointed. Small place, and maybe 8 to choose from, but several of them were quite good. No Use for Smugglers, Magnetic Aesthetic and Ode to the Afternoon Crew were my favorites of what I tried and found space in my to go cooler as well. The latter is a tasty, easy drinking cream ale, which was a nice change up from what my predilection for IPAs usually puts in my hand in this current seemingly infinite universe of IPAs, IIPAs, NEIPAs, etc. Tips - Note that Massachusetts does not allow breweries to put their beer in a growler branded with a different brewery's name, but SOME will allow outside growlers that are unbranded. Brick & Feather is one of the latter, which is great! Parking was a bit tight on their side of the road, but there was plenty of space across the low traffic street. My GPS dropped as I got near, so maybe mark it on your phone and take a screen shot just in case you end up navigating old school. The GPS came back, but I was a good mile off course by then. There's a small bridge right next to the brewery, as it is very close to the CT River. That's on 11th. The brewery is also on the corner of Avenue A. If you didn't come from that way, follow it Northeast for a small town center and a nice long bridge over a wide part of the CT River. Good view and it shouldn't add much to your trip. read more

Amazing little brewery I never knew was here despite knowing the area fairly well. We were 1 of only 4 groups of people scattered around the tasting room when we arrived, but the longer we stayed, more and more people were filing in. There were 5 beers to choose from and with the option of getting 4 on a tasting flight, I picked the double IPA to leave out (not a fan of that kind of brew) and tried all the rest. The Recreational Intellectual was my favorite - clean crisp taste and very Spring tasting! The bf went home with a cute baby growler of the In Absentia. Loved the industrial decor mixed with natural woods, and the place was clean and comfortable to hang out in. Only complaint that kept me from giving it a 5-star review was the lack of actual seats. There were only 5 seats in the whole place at the time we were there (4pm on a Saturday) and most people were left standing. Maybe that's what they like but I would have liked to sit down to enjoy my brews... read more

Beautiful location near the river and very good beers, especially IPAs. We just happened to visit on an In Absentia release day and since everyone was walking away with cases, we grabbed a few four packs so as not to miss out on the fun. All the beers were tasty but the IPAs are the star of the show. If there is a release it's going to be busy. Prepare accordingly. read more

Nice small brewery with a quality $10 flight (4 6 oz glasses). A nice mix of light and dark beers on tap, great site by the river, and an easy walk into town. Nothing fancy but it's a taproom--all you need is beer and chairs and the occasional table. You can also order food in. It is weird with kids running around, but I guess that's life in western Mass. read more

If you're willing to make the drive, this is a must visit. Very low key ambience with a cool industrial vibe. Prices are a little high for merchandise and brews but the quality justifies the cost. Their IPAs definitely stand up against anything else in the state. Wasn't busy when we went (Saturday at around 12:45. Picked up a couple growlers and we were on our way. From time to time I am asked my opinion regarding the number of microbreweries that are opening in the Valley. When will this stop? Is the bubble going to pop? How much more growth can our area stand? Simple answer - If microbreweries continue to pump out beer with the exceptional quality such as Brick & Feather is making, there might not ever be a limit. Great nano brewery, right off the Canal Bike Path. Perfect stop for sampling a few beers, and picking up some growlers to go. They have lots of space to grow, big dreams, and plenty of desire to make them happen. Keep an eye on this brewery. read more

Beautiful location nestled in the lovely little town of Turners Falls. This is a great destination brewery to visit on the weekend, have a nice chat with Lawrence and Emily over a sample of tasty fresh beer and bring treats (growlers) home for your friends and family to share over dinner! Very clean, dry fresh beer! First three batches on the system are tasting wonderful and I can't wait to try more from this lovely new addition to the Western Ma brewery landscape. read more

This place has decent beer but will only fill their own growlers. Brought my own and claimed they couldn't fill it due to "integrity of the beer". Sounds like you just want to sell more growlers since if you can't bring your own you have to buy theirs. Too many good breweries locally around to bother with this shit hole place. Not worth it. Go to Treehouse instead. I'd rather wait in line then have no wait at this dreary place. Location sucks. Customer service sucks. Try hiring a server who has some customer service skills. The place felt cold walking in. Turners Falls sucks. I used to like this beer. read more

At the suggestion of a couple friends, we stopped in to check out this new craft brewery the other day, and were very impressed. Excellent beer on tap, and really friendly knowledgable staff. We sampled two great brews - a nicely hoppy session American Pale Ale, and a dark rich creamy Porter with a fitting name: "Sauron's Night Light". Loved them both, and got two reusable growlers, which were carefully filled to the top. (They even filled the empty growler first with CO2 before pouring, so it would stay fresh longer. Nice touch.) The tasting room is only open Thursday-Saturday for now. Hope they expand on that! This place is a great addition to the craft brew scene in the Pioneer Valley. Can't wait to see what they do next! read more

I really can't say enough about this brewery. It makes the best beer I've ever had. If more people were exposed to it, I honestly think it would be mentioned in the same breath as the other "Big Names" in New England microbrewing. I think it's better than all of them, and I swear this isn't some "My nano brew is smaller and more exclusive than your nano brew" thing. Honestly, I think they're a bit hamstrung by only offering their beer in growlers. It's just less convenient than cans. I don't know if they have a plan to ever start offering cans (maybe they'd have to scale up first), but I could see them taking off if they did. In any event, you really can't go wrong with any of their beers. Just really, really delicious stuff. read more

Drove about 40 minutes to this brewery to pick up a growler of one of their beers that my husband tried at a restaurant and really enjoyed. When our party of four got there The beer we were interested in was crossed off their list when I get up to the taps I asked one of the "servers" if they sold the beer in any of the local package stores in which she replied just a "no" I followed that up with do you know when they'll be more of this particular beer available which she then looked at me and said "will be making more in a few weeks but even then" not really sure what that meant, i'm taking it is they'll make more but they never know if they'll be any left when I get up there?? And that was the end of our conversation not a "hey have you tried this beer it's of similar profile or follow our Facebook page and you can see when we will have it again..." poor customer service, my husband will have to find a new beer The tap room was so small and basic not worth the drive out there. read more

Great brewery located in Turners Falls. It is making some terrific beers and usually has a minimum of 2 available for purchase weekly.
