With a quick google search I found Kalibur, it reminded much of my old barber shop. So I decided to give them a try. Dara was my barber, I did not expect that it was a full service barber with a shampoo and hot towel, which I always enjoyed at my old shop. Dara did a great job on how I liked my hair done. He took his time to understand my cut because I'm not a barber and I don't know the terminology they use to describe it. It was just like home, great haircut and good conversation, sports on the TV. Leon runs a great shop. First place I have been with private barber suites, adds a chill vibe and personal experience. They fit me in before close, and Steph came through with excellent beard work. She's easy going, friendly but not too chatty and is usually available at a moments notice. Now for the business, Roy's is a no frills hair shop and it's right in Historic Downtown Mansfield. I personally like the fact that its a "mom and pop" operation as I feel it adds to the charm and overall experience. Bring cash, a men's cut runs $12 not including a tip. For comparison sake, I have been going to a personal friends boutique in Ft. Worth off 8th near Magnolia and she does fantastic work, has a great ambiance and provides choice beverages. The caveat is that it was a thirty minute drive one way and the cost was twice what Roy's charges. That being said, if Roy's quality wasn't up to snuff I would ultimately choose to make the trip and pay extra. However, I always leave Roy's with that extra boost of confidence that comes with a great haircut, so I shall return until further notice!
