I wanted to change the way my hair looked in both style and color, and John was there to give feedback and what he thought was in my best interest. I felt like he should have charged for his consultation because he spent a GOOD amount of time providing advice and feedback, time that's worth money, especially when I was his last client for the day and it was getting late. Because he didn't charge extra for consultation, I provided a good tip. What I wish beforehand, which isn't really John's fault, is how to enter the building. It was late, so the door was locked -- luckily, there was someone who let me in. If you ever encounter this situation, just text John and he'll come open the door for you! I admired her work and service so I tried to book an appointment for a toner in advance. I follow her Instagram page and she posts open dates with times and you would Google text your name plus choice. After multiple attempts and no response, I left a voicemail at the front office. She messaged back saying she was unable to receive my Google texts because it was down. So she arranged appt, and she cancels it one hour before the time. Ok life happens, so I was understandable, and she said she would reach out to me to reschedule. After countless Google texts, texts to her phone and Instagram, she doesn't respond ever. So I gave up now. This is so unprofessional. Pretty sad because I'm Vietnamese and wanted to support another. The salon is clean and nice, but Brandy doesn't respond. Why even bother scheduling appointments and canceling or lie. Just say respond no or something. She posts daily on instagram with open slots and stories so everything seems fine and dandy. We are regular customers at this Ulta and have always trusted it for our makeup needs. This visit…read moreon my daughter's PROM DAY was almost a disaster, thanks entirely to the MUA named Reyna. From the start, the application was not what we asked for. When we expressed our concerns about the eye shadow, Reyna flatly dismissed us and insisted it looked fine. She made zero effort to listen to the customer. Due to a language barrier, we had to have someone translate our concerns multiple times. Rather than appreciating the effort to communicate clearly, she became visibly angry. That alone was unacceptable. We asked another MUA to step in and correct the eye shadow. Instead of graciously stepping back, Reyna retaliated by deliberately removing the eye shadow and all of the makeup she had applied. My daughter was in tears. She was distraught, stressed about being behind schedule for one of the most important days of her teenage life and it was entirely unnecessary. The situation did not have to escalate this way. It was pure pettiness. But it didn't stop there. Reyna then proceeded to argue loudly with the manager for a full 10 minutes while the manager was simply trying to make things right for us. She also argued with her coworker during the application itself. The entire experience was chaotic, hostile, and deeply unprofessional. My daughter later noted she had used some very unsettling, unsanitary techniques as well. She sneezed into her hand and failed to wash them before continue with her application and she used the gloss and mascara straight from the tube. The manager was kind and offered a 10% discount, which we appreciated but no discount undoes the emotional damage and time we lost on prom day. Reyna should not be working with clients. Period. This level of conduct, dismissiveness, retaliation, arguing with management and coworkers in front of customers has no place in any service environment, let alone one where people come to feel special and confident. The only reason I still gave three stars is because Kacelyn saved the day. She reapplied the makeup flawlessly and talked with my daughter during the process to calm her down and lift her spirits. I scheduled a 50 minute River rock massage for 9 AM. They instructed me to arrive 15 minutes…read morebefore, to which I actually arrived 20 minutes prior. After being directed to the changing room, I was seated in another area to wait for my massage therapist. By the time she came and got me, it was 5 minutes after my scheduled time. After arrival into the room, she seated me on the table and washed my feet in what I assume was supposed to be a foot massage, but it was really just putting my feet in water and drying them off. Then she stepped out for me to remove my robe and get under the sheet on the table. When I took my watch off before getting on the table, it was 9:12. When she came back in, she proceeded to keep my full body covered with the sheet and placed a warm towel on my back over the sheet. She then proceeded to line 3 rocks on my back and wrap them with the warm towel while she began on my legs and feet. On every area, she made one pass with the rocks before discarding for hands. And it really just felt as if she was rubbing the rocks on my body rather than massaging. The entire time, I felt as if she was rushing through each section of my body, spending no more than a minute or two. Going back and forth to the counter to get new oils or switch rocks probably totally 1/2 the actual time of the massage. At the end of the massage, she spent probably 3-4 minutes washing her arms and hands before telling me that was it and she was going to step out for me to get my robe back on. I laid there for a minute being super disappointed and feeling like it couldn't have been 50 minutes. After I got up and put my robe on, I grabbed by watch and it was 9:52. I think I would be very safe to say my total massage might have been 35 minutes. The problem areas that I was asked about received no attention, nor did any area really. For $115, I really expect hands on me for 50 minutes. If that means no foot washing "massage," then I don't want it. Every massage I've ever had has been a stone massage and this was the worst experience at one of the priciest places.
