The best part about this store is how "HOMEY" it feels and how SWEET it smells!!! I went in the other day and saw an Apple keyboard the type that had batteries. It wasn't that old…read morea model. I tried several ways to open it. I finally realized I needed a regular screwdriver to open it. The batteries can get corroded so , if not I wasn't interested. I finally asked an employee to take it in the back and to please have them open it for me. She brought it back unopened and told me that it had batteries in it when I got it open. I wish I'd asked them to bring me a screwdriver. Maybe I could have gotten it open. Oh, well.

The classes are held in a training classroom of the Red Cross building (see photos). Our instructor was Johnny, who came up from Tucson to teach the class. The morning was occupied with CPR/AEG training. A couple students who only needed certification in that left at that point. After lunch we did first aid for the next hour or two, and those who signed up for Adult training (including myself) left, leaving only a few students who also signed up for Pediatrics. I can't say enough good things about Johnny, our instructor. I had anticipated long dry lectures, and struggling to keep my eyes open. Instead, he was casual, humorous, and obviously very knowledgeable about the subject matter. The only drawback is the large amount of material covered.

I was pleased I found a Hoover Windtunnel at this store. The merchandise is expensive. For example a halogen floor lamp is priced at $24.95 at this Goodwill, when I got same floor lamp for $9.95 at Scottsdale Pavilions Goodwill. It had a matching pair. On top of that both $9.95 lamps were the color (green) that particular week, that was 50% off. The one at this Goodwill was wobbly and warped, and still priced at $24.95. They had the halogen bulbs, already in the lamp, when most of them are missing the long bulb, which is increasingly hard to find, cos these lamps have been discontinued for maybe 30 years, because they get so hot, the curtains catch fire. I am giving it 3 stars cos it seems so cluttered, disorganized, and the things I touch are dirty.

It is evident that they select the very best of things to sell because it is supporting a great cause. It will be my go to place to buy stuff and donate things. One of the things that will keep me coming back besides the great selection of stuff you never knew you needed and that it supports the Hospice of the Valley, is the manager and the people who work there.
