The Brickhouse just reopened after closing back in March. This was my first time in and I loved it. Great wings, good local beer on tap and friendly service from all of the staff. What more could you ask for? Our group was treated by Mallory, the head of Brickhouse's kitchen, with the newest addition to their wings menu: Bang Bang Bang Wings. They were delicious. While advertised as hot, the triple bang best describes the flavor. Vibrant and savory with just enough heat you can feel. Totally safe for those that fear wings with too much heat. We also tried the "Jale-mango" wings. These were pretty mild as far as heat, but full of sweet mango-ey flavor. A great pepper/fruit combo with the glaze sauce. To wash the wings down, I enjoyed a pint of "Don't Fear the Reaper" by local brewery 18th Street. Definitely worth a visit. And Brickhouse is connected to the Art Theater in downtown Hobart making It the perfect pre or post show watering hole. read more

Yes the menu does state the wait will be longer in show nights . No ms waitress of doesnt say thirty to forty five minutes . It also doesnt say expect tbose who walk in after you to be half way done with their food and you to still not have any . It doesn't say expect someone else's apps to be served at your table then be brought to someone else . It doesn't say expect waitress to tell if you're been here before you would know ( tell me youre lying about serving others before us ) it doesn't say your fish and chips will be bland except for the taste of baking powder . It did not say it will be fifty minutes between ordering and actually getting your bar food . It definitely doesnt say expect waitress to argue with you when you ask her about these things . I hate having to give 3 monkeys in Hobart a bad review because the CP location is amazing. Sweetest staff I ever met. They know my name and automatically say "Jen, angry orchard hun" and I nod. Food is always on point. This place was a joke! Make sure u never complain while the millennial/ hipster manager Aaron, is sitting down relaxing and playing bingo. Because he will yell at you and make u feel like a liar when u question the food . The food and atmosphere were horrible.... The manager Aaron and I guess his body guard or maybe his boyfriend screamed at us the entire time we were walking out. Shame on this establishment! May God have mercy on this place because I know the owner Jeff, I've spent plenty of Sunday's drinking bloody Mary's at CP location and he always would buy us a shots and hang out with my girlfriends and I a bit. read more

The place is fine. I like the decor. It's a good place the grab a drink and watch a game. The food is ok. I mean some of the food they serve is what you'd buy frozen at Walmart. Pleasantly surprised!! I came here from Chicago wasn't expecting much but I left pretty pleased. I started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp, which was tasty and the shrimp tasted like good quality. They had jalapeños with some type of yummy glaze. I also ordered the shrimp po boy against my better judgment but was very satisfied with the taste and that remoulade sauce was pretty fire!!! Stopped in for some monkey rolls. They did not disappoint. This was the first time I also tried the Reuben rolls. They were seasoned perfectly. The amount of meat inside both the Reuben rolls and the monkey rolls was perfect. Both we're greasy, the Reuben rolls were slightly greasier than the monkey rolls. While they both still tasted very good I could have done without so much grease. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. This is always a good place to go watch a Cubs game. The cilities are clean. I originally gave Monkeys 5-Stars, but the original chef, Carl, left and it has gone downhill ever since. I had to change my review to 2-Stars The $11.00 chop salad that was more than enough for two people is now half the size of the original. The original salad came with two small cups of dressing plus toast. It now comes with one cup of dressing and no toast. One cup is probably enough now that the salad is much smaller. Now if you want toast it is a $1.00 extra charge. Restaurants serving much less expensive salads give you bread at no charge. Chef Carl's balsamic dressing was also much better. Since the price of gas has gone up the owner must need more money to fill the gas tank on the Hummer he owns. read more

I've eaten here several times and the food is honestly fantastic. The monkey roll is amazing , sushi is normally pretty good and sandwiches are great. The bad: the exhaust system must be terrible because it's always slightly smoky in here from the kitchen and when you leave your clothes smell like a deep fryer oil. The service is always sub par to awful. Kitchen takes really long to get food out and drinks stay empty for far too long. This could be a great place but it's not even close to great the way It is now. read more

Nice little bar? It's a little on the bright side for a pub IMO. And plenty of tvs.... the service was great, waitress was nice. We went out for drinks and had wanted to check this place our, so we had a drink and shrimp appetizer which was ok... not worth ordering again. I was disappointed in it really. Not what I was expecting at all. It's bright in there like your walking into a regular restaurant, tvs With sports, would have been great for some music and low lighting. I felt we were better off going to a restaurant and sit in the bar next time. It's a shame. read more

Great addition to downtown Hobart! It is a very small spot, but nice and smoke-free. The food was good and large portions. They also have a large beer menu and great specials. The smoked salmon BLT was delicious. I encourage you to try this new option downtown. read more

Been here 2 times too many. Walked in with a group of people and immediately we were told by the waitress to not stand in her way. We didn't even get a chance to get in the bar. They had $3.00 shots and the bartender charged $19.50. After arguing with us she realized she made a mistake. Very rude and unprofessional to their customers. read more

HORRIBLE FOOD, great service!!!! I will NEVER go back. The people who say that the food is good, must not know what good food is. We went on Taco Tuesday and the place was basically empty. The tacos were horrible. The salsa that came with the chips tasted like a can of tomato sauce with some salsa thrown in. The flour tortillas were not heated at all. They tasted like they were served straight from the package, were cold and had a rubbery texture. There was hardly any meat (shredded pork for me and chicken on my son's tacos.) My tacos were just strewn on the plate instead of lined up nicely. REMEMBER, presentation is everything, but evidently not here. Also, the pop was flat. If it wasn't for the fact that it was Taco Tuesday and I didn't have to pay too much for the tacos, I would've sent everything back, but then you face backlash from whoever cooks your food. The only good thing was the waitresses who were very kind and punctual. I feel sorry for them that they have to work here. Also, how shameful if the performers from the theatre come here to eat. really liked this place a lot when they first opened. The food was very good and service was great. Unfortunately since the old chef is not there the food has suffered. The service still seems to be good. The last couple of times the food has taken a very long time. The last time we ordered the food was not as good. I ordered the Italian Beef sandwich and the au jus was so salty I just threw it out. The potato chips we got were not crispy. The potato chips seemed like they were not cooked all the way. Stopped a month ago for the first time and they didn't have sushi apparently due to a delivery truck malfunction. Visited a couple more times and had a good time but the exhaust system is lacking. The bar had a smokey haze to it and I smelled like fryer grease when I got home. Went there again last Friday and they couldn't serve alcohol because their liquor license expired. How does a bar allow their liquor license to expire and stay in business? Kind of falls under the category of "ridiculous"! Got seated at 6:15 but not even served our entree at 8:15 when we left after paying our ck. Waitress was nice and brought and drinks promptly but they have a serious problem in the kitchen as our entree order still hadn't arrived 8:15pm. My suggestion is order your entree with your appetizer if you don't want to wait a long time. read more

We had the most awful experience today. First, it was freezing in the place. The country music they were playing was too loud. There was one bartender on a Sunday, who handles the bar, servicing food, and taking care of patrons in the movie theatre, which is connected to the resturant/bar, plus, answering the phone. We live in Hobart and have been frequenting 3 Monkeys Pub (now Brickhouse Bar and Grill) downtown approximately 2-3 times/month since they opened around May 2017. We have always had a great experience and have spread the word to family and friends....until today. We had lunch there today, Saturday 3/30, at around 2:00pm and had a HORRIBLE experience. There was a table of 20-30 year olds who were loud, obnoxious and obviously being over-served. They were dominating the jukebox and singing along to every song they played. The waitress kept serving them (including shots of Crown Royal), which lead to them getting louder and more obnoxious, including actually pounding on the table. We ordered the lunch specials. My husband ordered the steak sandwich with peppers but no onions. It came with onions and no peppers. He sent it back, only to receive a luke warm sandwich (obviously the same one) still smelling like onions, but with added peppers. It was very obvious they had simply wiped off the onions and added the peppers instead of preparing a whole new sandwich, which reputable and decent restaurants will do. The waitress immediately offered to take the charge off our order, but did not offer a new one (which we wouldn't have accepted anyway). As we were leaving, the obnoxious table next to us was ordering more shots, which the waitress agreed to provide. Remind you, this was in the middle of the afternoon. This isn't a college bar before a big game, this is a small restaurant/bar in downtown Hobart. I believe one of the owners was seated at the bar. He kept looking at the table near us, but didn't take any action. I assume the owners are aware this is a small place, with poor acoustics, so they need to be aware of problems that may arise when a loud table is present. We have attended shows at the theater and were planning to attend the Final 4 viewing, but unfortunately we will not be returning. We will also be informing our family, friends and neighbors about our experience, who I'm sure will be passing it on to their family and friends. This is very disappointing, as we often dined at this establishment and enjoyed it. If they are trying to achieve a loud, party type atmosphere...they are succeeding. But if they would like a welcoming environment for a mixed crowd, they have changes to make. It looks like we will be frequenting Cagneys instead, despite the smoke, and share our review of 3 Monkeys while we are there. read more
