The service here isn't great, got my order wrong. The food is subpar. I got a burger and onion rings. The burger was a cheap thing patty, you could definitely do better from Costco or even Walmart. Awful service. Waited 20 minutes for Greek chicken and was told it would be another 20 minutes because they screwed up the order. Was so mad we just left. Terrible management. Don't get a side of liver. I didn't want the whole liver meal, so I ordered two sides of liver, with the whole breakfast I ordered. They charged me $18.50 for those two skinny sad pieces of liver. (A liver meal with onions, potato, salad, bread etc is $11.00.) Service was excellent. Food was just okay. Ambiance was kitschy and the menu exactly what I want in a diner. The cashier was rude and inflexible and primarily I did not appreciate the way she spoke to me. The Greek chicken and Greek pork chops were just marvelous. The amount of food they give you is remarkable you can eat and get full and still take food home. The service was very friendly and very helpful on finding me something good to eat. I do recommend Maxim restaurant. read more

I have been coming here for years. The lemon rice soup is probably the best this on the menu. I would say it is the best in the area in my opinion. The rest of the menu on the other hand is just ok at best. The food almost always comes out hot but for the flavor it falls a bit short. everything is bland you will definitely need to add salt and pepper to your food. The service is normally ok they never seem to be in a hurry even when the place is packed. The bar is pretty nice kind of plain but has a few TV's so you can watch the game. read more

Good Morning, I came in for breakfast and a drink at the bar area. I was greeted 5 mins after I sat down. I've had a horrible week and I just wanted to eat and study. I was here Monday morning and the waitress was beyond excellent. A waitress from the other side had to tell someone from the back that I was here. I ordered the same drink I got on Monday. A top shelf tropical Long Island, water and a #18 scrambled with cheeses. The waitress spoke to some lady on the bar area with a black ball cap on about making the drink. She says she just got here etc, and the waitress says she just got here as well. My food came out fast but was wrong. No cheese was in my eggs. The drink sat at the bar for over 10 mins, I noticed it was red and not blue like the one I had Monday. I told the waitress and she agreed that the tropical flavor was indeed blue. I did not touch the glass at all. It had no garnishment or anything. She took it back to the lady with the grey shirt and ball cap and told her what I said, she says she put blue corucco in it, I told her the other lady put blue puker in it. She was rude, never addressed me, had an attitude while making the drink over. The drink is now blue, again no garnish and taste like crap. I come here to relax and unwind, not to deal with anyones attitude. The bartender is greeting everyone else like family, while I have requested and paid my bill, I'm still sitting here with no one serving me. This is about the worst service I have ever had. I still left a tip despite the service. No itemized bill or anything. This encounter has made my day even more stressful so thanks for that. You need to do better, I will put a review about my service received today. Horrible from the time I walked in to the time I walk out. We always get great food and service at Maxims. Had crispy calamari and the Supreme pizza this time. Everything was so good. Prices are affordable and no long waits. Every time I visit my hometown, near the top of my agenda is a trip to Maxim's. I grew up eating at Georgie's (which was the pre-Maxim's restaurant by the same owners) and even after moving away, I come back and the food is superior to most of what I can get at home. The Tivoli pizza (sausage is my favorite) is the best thin-crust pizza I've ever had, without a doubt. Something in their lemon rice soup is a bit tangier and tastier than the others I've had. Their open faced turkey sandwich with gravy basically defines the category, and their Greek pork chops swimming in delicious juices can't be beat. If you're looking for some pizza, or a hearty Greek meal, or even some basic American fare, stop by Maxim's and you won't be disappointed! read more

Ok... so , we used to go there a bunch years ago, stopped going because they couldn't cook the french frys all the way. So after a long break. We tried it again, I ordered the same thing I always have. Maxim's dip with frys, tonight they cooked the frys crispy like I asked, however they stuffed them in that foam box that turns them soggy. My first experience wasn't bad. The waitress was friendly and the lady who I paid my bill to upfront was as well. Two employees in the front as I walked in on their smoke break seemed a bit disgruntled at something, which made it semi uninviting, and it seemed to take a bit long for someone to acknowledge a paying customer as I walked in. On my way to finish a house I was determined to just eat here. It was pretty busy right when I entered around 10:30am. I ordered my favorite at these Greek type "family" diners, the Grecian skillet. Packed with fresh potato, various veggies, I always add spinach if its available. What was unique was this, was the first Grecian skillet that came with tajiki sauce + it was good and it had a couple nice chunks of cool cucumber too. The dish price was 6.70 not a bad deal, to add the spinach was two bucks more :( oh well still not bad. The coffee wasn't horrid as a review mentions. It wasn't watered down, just your average cup of folgers, I think... Nothing fancy but drinkable. If your near the area I would say it's a decent place for a reasonable priced meal... I am torn between giving this restaurant a three or four star review. For one thing, they have amazing lemon rice soup. It is the best lemon rice soup that I have ever had. I love lemon rice soup and to this day, I have not found a better tasting one. They also have really good appetizers. My complaint is that most of the food is only average. The Greek dishes tend to be the better tasting on the menu, and I will gladly come back for those. When it comes to prices, their menu has a good variety. You can get items for around $8, but you can also get something more expensive if you want to. Another pro about this place is the service is always great. I have never had a bad server here and I have been a lot of times! I plan on returning here, even if it just for the lemon rice soup and Greek items. read more

I like this place. It's were us older folks hang out. Lol lol The food is good and tasty. I love the burgers and meatloaf. Usually after a day of shopping, I will dine here to relax and chat. It's that kind of place. The parking is my only dislike. The lot needs to be bigger. I sometimes think, it could be easy to miss judge the distance backing back. I been here for breakfast and lunch which I truly enjoyed, but this is about the pizza that's why I rated them a 2 so the pizza by far had to be the worse I've eaten. The dough was fresh I'll give them that but the sausage. It probably would be an excellent pizza for senior citizens because it's grounded like high school pizza and the pepperoni was so thin I had to Lift the cheese to see if they were actually on there. wow, this was HORRIBLE. Take-out vs eating there... EAT IN ---- We have been going here for 15 yrs plus. Dinner have been good/decent. Take-out----THIS WAS HORRIFIC AND A BIG DISAPOINTMENT !! Dinner # 1 ---- Greek Chicken- (all white meat) there was ZERO ZERO lemon, olive oil, or oregano. My styrofoam box wrapped in saran wrap , had : 2 Tiny shriveled up wings and 2 TINY shriveled up breasts. They were "wrinkly" like old -cold chicken left in refrigerator . My GOD I would have never guess that they would actually serve this !! They also served me a big portion of BLOATED_OVER_COOKED rice !! I thought it was orzo !! NO IT WAS OLD OVER_COOKED RICE. The "browned -potatoes" were brown- nothing on them so is the brown result of old potatoes ?? They looked just like the ones in my fridge that I forgot about 2 wks ago !!!! I threw my whole dinner out. The lemon rice soup was good. WHY ARE THEY USING STYROFAOM CUPS/BOXES FOR TAKE-OUTS ?? In a world of take-outs, these are the WORST containers for hot food. Dinner #2-- Pastitsio. ( greek lasagna). The bechamel was watery. The paper in styrofaom box was wet and stuck to food. I have made this dish hundred times and not once has this happened. My guess is they made pan of it and then store in freezer and cut as needed. THIS WAS NOT BAKED TODAY OR EVEN DAY BEFORE. I have never seen such crappy take-out dinners in my life. MY guess is the time of night. We ordered after 8 pm and when we pulled in to parking lot there were 2 guys smoking who dressed like cook and dishwasher. The restaurant part was not open , only the bar. I will be posting pictures of the awful food . There are way too many restaurants to go to today. This place will be off my list. Came here for breakfast yesterday. Server was the WORST server I have probably ever had!! Short... older... nasty a** attitude!!! Advice from someone who used to be a server.... you need to put on an act for EVERYONE you wait on sweetheart.. that's how you earn your $$$$$!! You weren't that busy to have such a nasty attitude, and the food at this place wasn't all that, that would make me want to come back. Sucks for you that I was paying and not my "man" because he would've left you more than the $5 I left you even thou you NEVER filled his coffee once, and his cup sat @ the end of the table throughout our whole meal... My grandfather and I come here every once in a while for some decent and inexpensive Greek food. I like this place because it has character. It's an older restaurant and not a franchise. The portions are big and atmosphere is that of a family owned restaurant in NW Indiana. If you love lemon rice soup as much as I do, then you should check out Maxim's when traveling through town. Been here a hundred times. Last night was the worst! Ocean Perch filled with bones. Service rough and S L O W. Table dirty. Rice pudding had no sugar or vanilla in it. We waited over 40 minutes for a table for 4 adults & 1 kid...but there were several missed opportunities to place us at a booth with an extra chair. This restaurant also has 1/2 dedicated to SMOKING. The entire restaurant should be SMOKING because no matter where you sit - you end up smelling LIKE smoke and feel like you were smoking during dinner. Nasty! read more
