This shop is a haven for vintage toys, comics, and video games, offering a massive selection that spans decades and a vibe that feels like stepping into a time capsule. With its incredible inventory, passionate staff, and the option to pop in for a single find during the day, Retro Rat earns a well-deserved five stars. Walking into Retro Rat is like diving into a childhood dream. The shelves are packed with vintage action figures, from '80s Transformers to GI Joe and Star Wars classics, alongside newer collectibles like Funko Pops. The comic section is just as impressive, with everything from Silver Age Superman to modern indie titles, neatly organized for easy browsing. Their video game selection is a standout--retro cartridges for NES and Sega sit alongside PlayStation and Xbox gems, perfect for gamers looking to relive the past. The store even stocks trading cards, vintage tees, and board games, making it a one-stop shop for any pop culture fan. Retro Rat's community vibe sets it apart. They host events like trading card tournaments and retro gaming nights, creating a space where fans connect and share their passions. I don't make it to many of the events since I live across the bridge but The shop's clean and well-organized, with treasures displayed to spark excitement without overwhelming. Prices are fair--vintage figures range from $20 to $200 depending on rarity, comics are competitively priced, and games are often below market value for their condition. It's not a discount bin, but you're paying for quality and curation, and it's worth every penny for the gems you'll find. This place is more than a store; it's a nostalgic adventure. Whether I'm grabbing a single NES cartridge, flipping through X-Men comics, or eyeing a vintage toy to complete my set, Retro Rat delivers. The staff's dedication and the shop's vibrant energy make every visit feel like a hunt for buried treasure. For its unmatched selection, top-tier service, and role as a collector's paradise, Retro Rat gets five stars. It's a must-visit for anyone in Largo who loves toys, comics, or games, and I'll keep coming back for my next big score.

Big store with tons of selections…read more I was nervous from pictures that this would be all comic books. I was a little relieved when we pulled up and there was a sign that included toys. We were here on a very specific mission, one son was looking for ghostbusters toys and the other was looking for pokemon cards. One of the employees told us that they get the most calls from people looking for pokemon cards. So I don't bury the lead, they don't have just packs of pokemon cards, but they do have a set that includes multiple packs for $60. We ended up getting that for my older son and I've been giving him a pack every couple of days. I was little nervous about our mission to find ghostbuster stuff. There were tons of star wars stuff and a lot of funko figurines. We did find ghostbuster funko figures, but that wasn't really what we were looking for. Eventually after walking around a bit, we did find three small ghostbuster items. I think they're meant to be kept on a desk, but my son has been playing with them like they're toys. I haven't seen ghostbusters so I'm not going to describe this well, but they are items to track and then trap ghosts. He was ecstatic that we found them, so mission accomplished. If you're looking for comic books then this is heaven. If you're looking for specific toys, it may be hit or miss, but for us it was a hit. This is definitely a place worth checking out.

(I tell her that all the time and it's a POOF thought cloud above her head). Let's just say I can easily pick out the brick like power supply of the ATARI2600 and the INTELLIVISION paddles out of a lineup with ease. I did purchase a NINTENDO 3DS used in 2017 and had very few successful interactions and pleasurable plays in part because the buttons are so small. So, I'm ignorant in gaming matters, but I freakin loved the 89's arcades and still get a shallow rise of that underlying childlike emotion when viewing titles, remembering what once was and as I walked into the store, the young owner was hard at work. I asked questions he cave answers to my handheld console thoughts - like "are they're any dumb down jump, kick, punch games?" I look at what my addicted nephews play and my head spins and my eyes twitch - so I turn left and BAM, there was ATARI stuff, such a wonderful nostalgic moment. PC big box games, NeoGeos, SEGA stuff, Pokemon cards and Flush and toys -- Gameboy Color - Advanced - GameCube and arriving at the 3DS games. I purchased a Pac-Man - Pacman World I believe as to not exit my classic comfort zone quite yet and a Donkey Kong who still looks pissed off since 1982, Donkey Kong Country as I recall.. Cool place indeed!!
