WOW!! This was my second time at this bridal shop. First for my older sister, now for me, and I have to say, Bridal Beginning has to be the most well run bridal shop in Pittsburgh. I went to three other bridal shops before coming here, and Bridal Beginning checked every single box. The staff were absolutely amazing, they were extremely knowledgeable and the shop is gorgeous. When you make your appointment, you need to fill out a "Wedding Dress Wishlist" so your stylist can customize your dress shopping experience. This was a game changer. They knew exactly what I wanted and had dresses pulled before I arrived. Sara was the stylist I was paired with, and she was fantastic! As I tried on more dresses, she continued to pull different styles that matched exactly what I was liking. She helped me stick on budget and make me feel like a bride. I am blown away by this place! Bridal Beginning takes customer service to new heights. New York Bridal Fashion Week was a few weeks ago and I saw a Hayley Paige dress that I knew was my wedding dress. I emailed them the day after the show and from New York Pam replied instantly and said they contacted the Hayley Paige team and can get the dress in THE FOLLOWING WEEK for me to try on. Literally from the runway TO ME?! I get there and everyone was so kind they were just as excited as I was to see this dress on and in person! Despite numerous positive reviews from my friends/acquaintances, I had the total opposite experience at Bridal Beginning. ​***If you want to look through their dresses and choose which ones you want to try - this isn't the place for you.*** They require you fill out a form prior to your appointment that asks you to list style numbers you might be interested in trying on. Having no idea what styles look good on me, I picked a variety. In between filling out that form and my appointment, I tried on dresses and found a style that worked for me. When I got to my appointment, they asked if I had tried on before and found anything I liked and even asked me to show a picture of the dress that peaked my interest. Even after having seeing the picture, they insisted I try on the dresses of the styles I picked. I mentioned that they really weren't "speaking to me" anymore, but they dismissed me and made me try them on nonetheless. We weren't allowed to look around; the employees pulled dresses for me. I can't say enough about how amazing Bridal Beginning is. When I went in for my appointment in July, I didn't have much of an idea of what I was looking for in my wedding dress. They had me pre-select some dresses I liked from the designers they carry and they were waiting for me when I came in. From there, with what I said I liked/didn't like about each dress my stylist, Gina, knew exactly where to go from there. I went to Bridal Beginnings last night to try on wedding dresses for the very first time and had an appointment with Kristin. When I called to make my appointment, the woman was incredibly kind and calming. Upon arrival to my appointment, everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I was intimidated, overwhelmed, uncomfortable, nervous and anxious about the entire dress thing which made me very awkward. Kristin quickly put me at ease and make me feel comfortable. She whisked dresses in and out and wasted no time getting me dressed, undressed and into the next look. She was honest and gave an opinion while making me feel confident instead of self conscious. She managed the opinion of my guests perfectly and made everyone feel valued and important. I had absolutely no clue what kind of dress I wanted, but she quickly narrowed it down to 3 beautiful gowns. There was absolutely no pressure to commit to a dress and she was very willing to note the 3 and let me come back for a 2nd appointment to look at them with a fresh set of eyes. I had such an incredible time here and walked out with the most perfect wedding dress thanks to the staff at Bridal Beginning - special thanks to Gina! Scheduling an appointment was so easy and the receptionist was so friendly and nice over the phone. After scheduling, you fill out an online questionnaire to help the consultants curate some selections for you based on your budget, favorite designers, etc. ahead of time. The actual in-person appointment was nothing sort of perfect and exceeded all my expectations. Gina was my bridal consultant and I'm not exaggerating when I say that she made the whole experience fantastic. I had no idea what to expect when searching for a wedding dress, and I was nervous going into it. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find the one! However, Gina immediately put me at ease with her warm personality and how amazing she is at her job. Every gown I tried on was stunning and 110% my taste. She knew my style better than I did! She never made me feel pressured and was not pushy in the slightest. Not only was she kind, attentive, and friendly but also incredibly professional. Here's the gist of my experience with Bridal Beginnings: Good service, good selection of dresses, but REALLY bad advice that required NINE alteration appointments and my dress never fitting quite right. I am so saddened and angry that I was encouraged to buy a larger size than the sample that fit me PERFECTLY. This might not have been an issue with other dresses, but my dress had a unique halter top and I expressed that I had concerns about a larger size changing the way the top fit, but was still told it would be better to have a larger size. I told them I could almost 100% guarantee that I wouldn't gain weight before the wedding, that I loved how the current sample size fit, and that I was worried that a larger size would fit me differently, and was still pushed to get the bigger size in case this sample had been stretched out and/or in case I gained ANY weight. The huge dress I ordered looked awful immediately and I showed it to both my saleslady and the manager at Bridal Beginnings, and they said it looked bad because it was bigger and wrinkly from shipping, and that these problems would be solved with alterations and pressing. I went to the seamstress Bridal Beginnings recommended, Laurel, who was nice, and I think, generally good at doing alterations. At the second fitting, I almost cried, but she assured me she could do more to fix it. At the ninth and final fitting, I took my dress home and wore it to my wedding. It never fit like it did when I tried the sample on and when I showed my now husband the original pictures we took, he said that he didn't realize the dress looked so much better originally and that he understood why I was so upset about it :( There's nothing to be done now, but I wish I had followed my own thought process and had not ordered the larger size. I also wish they hadn't encouraged me to buy the dress bigger and had understood that my concern was valid. read more

I was extremely nervous going into my first wedding dress try-on, but I couldn't have done it without Marisa's help at Bridal Beginning. I came in with a very broad idea of what I was looking for and she had me try on every style and quickly broke it down to what she thought I was going to be comfortable and feel good in. She did an amazing job at making the whole process easy and comfortable and I found my dress in about 2 hours! She was honest and stayed in my budge which was appreciated. We went later in the evening and even though they were closing up, we weren't rushed out or expected to finish up. It was such an easy process! We came back a second time for bridesmaid dresses and our consultant (I feel terrible for forgetting her name) again made it so much fun! We were the only ones down in the bridesmaids dresses which is under the store, but a comfortable environment! We quickly narrowed down what dresses my bridesmaids felt good in and what worked best. I had an amazing experience at Bridal Beginning today. Laurena and Sarah helped me find the perfect gown. They were so attentive and listened to every request. They pulled gowns that fit my style and also pushed me (gently) to try on things out of my comfort zone. I loved that they had a ton of dresses waiting for me based off of my wish list and that I did not have to look through the general racks at all. They knew exactly what I wanted and even asked me questions about my wedding, fiance, engagement, etc. I felt understood and like they truly wanted to give me a great experience. They paid close attention to my budget and when there was a dress that was at the top of my budget, they let me know before I tried it on. They were so quick getting me in and out of dresses, but gave me time to determine what I liked and did not like. I never felt rushed even when my appointment time went over the 1.5 hour mark. They had me move to different locations in the store to see my dress in different lighting and helped me to decide what color variations I wanted. My hunt for the perfect wedding dress took me all over the city and beyond. I was definitely not the "first dress you put on is the one" kind of girl. I needed to shop around (A LOT} to find "the one." I feel justified saying that if you're about to drop a good amount of money on a beautiful dress you're only going to wear once on a pretty important day, you should have suburb service. I'd say service here was adequate. I wouldn't say they were incredibly friendly but they were efficient and my dress came in on time and the fittings all went without any hiccups. In the huge bridal stores like MB Bride in Greensburg, you feel like a number. They hassle you in and out like cattle. I know it's a huge store, so there's a lot of traffic, but I wanted a more personal experience for something this special. That's why I feel like a boutique experience is the way to go when choosing a bridal gown. I also liked the huge selection of dresses. They carry designers such as Maggie Sottero, Lazaro and Jim Hjelm. You can choose from the whole spectrum of classy to couture bride. I've actually been in here a couple times after my wedding and it always seems like they're up on the latest in bridal fashions. *Important note: You absolutely MUST make an appointment to see any dresses. Especially at peak bridal time...which is almost all year except winter at this point. read more

When I started looking for my dress, this seemed like the place to go and was my first call. I showed up on time and was promptly greeted and introduced to my consultant. We went back to the dressing room and discussed basics, price point, style, about the wedding, etc. they listened to what I wanted and choose some beautiful dresses. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because my consultant was a little too pushy. She talked a lot about her daughters wedding, which is exciting but this is supposed to be a big moment for me. I didn't care to continue hearing about a strangers wedding. The other part of the appointment I didn't care for was if I didn't care for a dress and had conversations about why with my parents and brother (who went with me), my consultant cornered me several times on how I shouldn't listen to them and that I needed to make a decision that day. I was 9 months out and needed to think about it. I didn't appreciate being pressured. The last thing that I didn't love was that I asked to try a dress on that was in their window. I never saw that dress. When I went to another store and told them the style I liked they brought that exact dress back and it's what I ended up wearing for my wedding. I recently found my dream dress at Bridal Beginning last month and could not have had a better experience! My consultant, Marisa, was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I had spent hours searching online and had gone shopping at a different store prior to my appointment, trying on dozens of dresses only to feel that something was missing. When I came to my appointment at Bridal Beginning, Marisa completely understood what I was looking for and came back into the room with three dresses--one of which was THE dress. Even the other two dresses she brought were close runner-ups and absolutely stunning! With her design background, she found a dress that managed to incorporate everything I was hoping for in a way that was elegant, dramatic, unique, and romantic, just as I had explained. Even when we were trying to determine which size to order, Marisa quelled my family's uncertainty by finding a dress by my designer in that size so we could get a better idea of the fit. The store even stayed open an extra hour to make sure that we were happy with all of the modifications and sizing choices and that everything was ordered correctly from the designer. I had never tried on wedding dresses before and didn't really know what to expect. My mom, my sisters and I were greeted at the door by my consultant, Gina. Her warm and friendly personality put me at ease right away. We were led to a private area of the store that would be ours for the entire appointment, and though the parking lot was full, I really felt like I was the only one in the store! Gina had several dresses pulled for me ahead of time and we started trying on immediately. I knew just by looking at one of them that it was going to be "the one," so I wanted to save it for later! Gina was great about pulling different dresses as we went, based on the feedback I was giving about each one I tried on. I never felt pressured, or like I was being a pain by continuously saying "no, this isn't it!" After trying on 6-7 dresses, I decided it was time to try on the one I loved from the rack, and sure enough, it was the one! Gina pulled two veils for me to try, and they both matched my dress perfectly. I said yes to the dress and a veil! I wish I could go back and do it all again because it was such a great experience! I had such an amazing experience getting my wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses here. I made an appointment with Dorothy for my wedding dress and she was so knowledgeable and helpful. Her years of expertise were noticed right away. The second dress I tried on, and actually the first one she chose for me (I chose the first one), was the one I ended up buying. When you buy the dress the day of your appointment, you get a discount too! That's a nice plus. I also got my bridesmaids dresses here, but stopped in on a whim. Sarah helped me look at some options I may not have tried before, but we found the dress within minutes. She knew exactly what I was looking for when I described my style and venue. The dresses were easy to order and reasonably priced too. I should add that they do have a great range of prices. You can tell them what you are looking for over the phone and they will do their best to accommodate you! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the place is in need of some renovations. I went to Bridal Beginning on Saturday, and left knowing that I had visited the best bridal salon in Pittsburgh. My consultant, Sam, was amazing. I really relied on her, since I decided to shop by myself. I've done the shopping with family, and the shopping with friends, and was just really ready to find "the one." If you've tried on wedding dresses before, you know that it's an exhausting and sometimes frustrating process. That being said, Sam and the Bridal Beginning team made my visit incredibly special. Sam started by asking me about my wedding, the venue, what dresses I've tried on, and how I wanted to look. She then started pulling dresses for me to try on. We were going through some really beautiful ones, but nothing was really wowing me. She listened to what I liked, and kept pulling gowns, staying patient and positive. I started to get a little dismayed, but she looked me in the eye and promised that she would stay until 10 pm if that's what it took to find me a dress. It seriously felt great to have someone 100% on my team, especially when I was by myself. Being a bit of a control-freak, I wanted to take a look for myself, so off we went to the showroom together (hint: don't be afraid to ask to do this. They pull dresses for you because they have WAY more in the back then they do on display.) One on the mannequin caught my eye, and Sam immediately brought it into the fitting room. I put it on and... wow... I just knew that I found my dress. The ladies all stopped in and said such nice things, fawned over me, and almost acted as pseudo-family/friends.I seriously felt spoiled! I can't even begin to express how happy and thankful I am for Sam and the team at Bridal Beginning. I never felt rushed, pushed, or hurried. Sam was cognizant of my budget, and made shopping a joy. I'd seriously recommend requesting her when making an appointment. There isn't one thing I'd change about my trip - every time I look at a picture of me in my dress, I fall more and more in love with it. We went shopping recently for bridesmaid/groomsmaid dresses (almost the entire party is female) on a busy Saturday afternoon. As some of the wedding party drove in from out of town, the bride made an appointment weeks in advance. A few things: Some of the bridal party are curvy and/or very tall, so when the bride made the appointment, she asked if there were samples in plus sizes. She was told there were. When the five of us arrived (the bride and four maids), our consultant was with another appointment that had run over. That's fine. However, we never ended up seeing her! We were given the services of another sweet but slightly clueless attendant. Not only that, but the bride kept asking for samples in sizes over 10-12... and we never saw any. Both consultants kept saying that they would "get to it," but they never did! So two of us had to try on every dress because we were the only ones who could. What was the point of having people drive in to an appointment when there are no dresses to try on? In the end, we ended up tentatively choosing some dresses, but the bride has made the decision that we will actually purchase them elsewhere. As we were leaving, the store was closing and I heard several of the consultants upstairs LOUDLY arguing. There were still several customers in the store, so I found this to be highly unprofessional! I forgot something in the downstairs area (where all the bridesmaids dresses are kept), and when I went back the original consultant asked me to apologize to the bride for all that had transpired. I told her to tell her herself! To date that has not happened. As for the selection (of bridesmaids dresses), it is ok. Twice as many chiffon as satin choices. Our bride wanted the latter, so we actually didn't have much to choose from. They are renovating so at least currently, the bridesmaids section/dressing rooms are tiny and cramped. Because of the service (or lack thereof), we will not be returning. read more

The dress I bought after two great appointments is definitely the one for my beach wedding. Lisa F. was my consultant and she was amazing! I knew that I wanted a Jim Hjelm or another designer from the same house, and only one place in Pittsburgh carries those designers - Bridal Beginning. I'm so happy that I ended up going there, as they were incredibly patient and helpful. I went to about 3 other places before going to BB, and nothing compared to my experience there... it was truly the "bridal experience" that I was hoping for (especially since one of my trips was to David's Bridal... ugh!!!!). Lisa was the consultant who helped me find the dress, and she was truly the best thing that could have happened to me. She gave me such confidence, and stayed with me for a LONG time as I was stuck between two dresses (she kept switching me in and out of them to make sure I picked the one that I truly loved). She also remembered me clearly when I went back and asked about things that we had talked about before. The other ladies were helpful too, since I called the day after placing my order for Lazaro 3018 to pause the order since I wasn't sure I wanted the antique color (I thought it might be too dark). So I went in a few days later, and Lisa was like, "come outside and see that it's not too dark!" and she proceeded to take the dress outside! *I did end up going with the antique and it was seriously perfect. My bridesmaids and mom ordered their dresses too without any problems. The only thing that I can't give an opinion on is the alterations department since we used my mom's friend. I looked forward to making a bridal appointment at Bridal Beginning for a year. When it came time to do so I scheduled it on a weekday as I knew it would be much less crowded than on a weekend. My mother and I visited the store the first week of January, 2018. There were no other customers in the store and we received a friendly hello from Marisa who also happened to be my scheduled consultant for the day. Marisa took me into the dressing room and chatted with me about some wedding details and the types/designers of gowns I was interested in. My mom was seated on a sofa in the front of the store. Marisa worked so diligently to find me as many gowns as possible with the art-Deco feel I was looking for. She was so enthusiastic and sweet and I appreciated her hard work so much. She was the only saving grace of the entire appointment however. There were 2-3 other ladies in the store, none of which said hello to my mother or myself the entire 1hour and 45 minutes we were there. My mother was alone in the front of the store and got up a few times to walk the showroom while she waited for me to come out in each dress. No one acknowledged her, much less offered her water. I'm sorry, but if the most important woman in my life feels unwelcome then I'm not okay with this! Furthermore, each time I walked out of the dressing room I had to walk past the main desk where these ladies were sitting and not one of them commented on any dress I came out in, or even smiled in my direction. I think I probably tried nearly 20 gowns on and every time I had to pass them to and from the dressing room. Most times they didn't even look up from the desk. It made me feel super uncomfortable. There was one lady in the back room that made a brief comment about one dress I had on, and while I appreciated her sweet gesture it wasn't enough to outweigh the awkwardness I was feeling from the others. Let me reiterate the fact that we were the only customers in the store and I had a VERY sizable budget. Despite how hard Marisa was working, not one of her coworkers chimed in on anything we were trying or offered to help her, which also made me feel bad. It's not to say I needed to be doted on, but sometimes it's nice to have multiple opinions and ideas, especially when there was ample time for it. I feel like if there was better staff enthusiasm my experience would have been a million times better. Perhaps a little more passion for the job is required here, not on Marisa's part but in the other's? This is, after all, one of the most exciting times in a girl's life! Overall, my long-awaited experience at Bridal Beginning was extremely lack-luster and myself and my mom left feeling somewhat under-appreciated. Marisa's hard work and passion for her job is sadly overshadowed by all of this and unfortunately rendered the appointment totally forgettable. I can't recommend Bridal Beginning enough! From start to finish it was such a special experience. I worked with Marissa, who was incredibly helpful. After just showing her pictures of (very different) styles of dresses I had liked, Marissa immediately went and pulled a dress that combined ALL of the elements I was looking for in my wedding dress. When I put that dress on I knew it was the one, but I also had another appointment later that day at a different bridal salon. When I told Marissa the situation she didn't pressure me into any decisions and instead gave me the opportunity to come back after the other appointment if I was still feeling similarly about that dress. Of course nothing else compared and I called Bridal Beginning right after the other appointment to let them know, and even though I wouldn't be able to make it back before they closed at 5pm, they stayed open for me so I could officially say "Yes to the dress!" We came into the store to find my best friend a dress. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a bridal boutique. If you do decide to come here, I highly recommend requesting a consultant other than Dorthy, she was rude, unhelpful, and completely ruined my friend's dress buying experience. Do NOT go there!!!! My daughter and several of her bridesmaids arrived, on time, for their appointment with the consultant, Nicole. This was the third bridal store that we had visited and by far they are the least helpful. After chatting with my daughter, Nicole kept bringing her dresses that were not even close to what she wanted. Of course, no one else is allowed to look through the dresses if by chance we might find "the one". After numerous dress failures, Nicole finally found one that was great. It was the last one that she was going to try on because we were very frustrated. We agreed to the dress and put down the 50% down payment. We were told that it would be about 5 months before the dress would be delivered. No problem - 10 months before the wedding. Five months go by...no dress and even worse, no follow up by the shop. A phone call to the shop - RUDE!!!!!!! We were told that the dresses take 7- 8 months....more waiting...no phone calls. Another call to the shop...RUDE again!!! Now it is a 10 month wait..seriously????? 2X the wait the customer should have been given a phone call. Very poor customer service. What is supposed to be a wonderful, memorable experience has turned out to be a nightmare. In a nutshell: 1. Was not made to feel welcomed - neither was the wedding party and mothers 2. Nicole was not pleasant to work with - did not listen, kept bringing dresses that were not suitable. 3. Mislead us with a delivery date of 5 months - took our money 4. No communication regarding delays - or were they delays?? 5. Five month lead time is now 10 months????? When people are spending thousands and thousands of dollars, customer service should be a priority! read more
