I live in Canada currently for work and at the recommendation of my boss I took Snickers to this vet in Ogdensburg, NY Thursday for a routine teeth cleaning. They did blood work before they did the procedure and said everything was "beautiful" so they would proceed with putting him under anesthesia. They did the procedure and released him around 4:30 pm Thursday. They said everything went well and he didn't require any extractions in fact they told me his teeth were in such great shape that whatever I was doing to "keep doing it." They said he would be groggy from the anesthesia but would be back to his normal spunky self in 24-48 hours. His breathing was rapid and he sounded like he was snoring by the time we got home. I stayed home from work Friday to keep an eye on him and even called this vet to ask about his current state and held the phone up to Snickers so they could hear him but the person on the phone said it was normal so I went to my 4:00 pm gym appointment with my trainer. By the time I got back home Snickers was lying down on the bathroom rug, still breathing, but I noticed a little bloody vomit on the carpet. I scooped him up and took him to his primary vet here in Canada within 2 minutes of my house. He vomited what looked like bile on me and died in my arms in the 2 minutes it took to get there I contacted the after hours emergency at this clinic and someone called me back. All I got was a "sorry for your loss" so I made arrangements through the vet in Canada to have him cremated and his ashes returned to me. I spent $286 for what was supposed to be a "routine" dental cleaning....now I had to spend an additional $350 the next day to cremate him. I returned to this vet clinic today (Saturday) to request my money back but all I got was "sorry, no management on site to discuss this with you....come back Monday." Obviously I was extremely upset and very emotional. Snickers was everything to me. He was only 9 years and 5 months old and was in perfect health when we walked in on Thursday....the cleaning was supposed to be routine. They asked me to leave and I refused so they called the Sheriff on me. I am beyond heartbroken. Between May 2017-November 2017 I lost my younger brother, stepfather and uncle. Now not even three weeks after returning to Canada from my home in Virginia where I underwent three major surgeries that Snickers saw me through I have lost my very best friend and I'm supposed to be okay with an answer of "well that's the risk of anesthesia-that's why we have you sign the paperwork" from some doctor at this clinic. This is unacceptable. If his teeth were in such great condition why not just examine him and tell me from the outset the cleaning isn't needed? So if you are reading this review please save yourself the pain and risk of loss and just don't do it. Clearly someone at this clinic does not understand the correct amount of anesthesia to safely administer to a 7 pound Yorkie in excellent health. Oh and if your dog dies after a procedure at their clinic keep in mind they will want the body to do a necropsy to determine cause of death if you are requesting a refund for a routine procedure. The after hours person who called me failed to mention that which is why I chose not to hang on to my dog's dead body for three days and opted to have him cremated as likely any loving pet parent would do. If there was an option to give this clinic ZERO stars I absolutely would. Taking him to this clinic for a "routine" procedure will forever be the biggest regret of my life!

Saying goodbye to our beloved French bulldog, Jax, was a difficult moment in our lives. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with professionalism, compassion, and respect. Dr. Martin and Hannah took the time to explain everything clearly, answered our questions, and ensured that Jax was comfortable, dignified, and surrounded by love in his final moments. The clinic was clean, calm, and thoughtfully prepared, which helped create a peaceful environment during an emotional time. Most importantly, they gave us a genuine sense of peace. Jax was treated not just as a patient, but as a member of our family. We are forever thankful for the kindness, care, and humanity shown to all of us.

We brought in a kitten we just adopted who had ear mites, and an infection. They were very gentle, kind, and supportive of us. They took great care of my kitten! If you can't afford the vet bills to make sure your animal is in proper health - don't own an animal. They're not belongings, they're living creatures that require care. This clinic is fabulous and will be our Maven's primary care facility!

Over the years, Dr. Bender has saved my dog on multiple occasions and helped make sure he had the best life possible! Until recently, Dr. Bender has been the sole veterinarian there and works 6 days a week without a break. She is dedicated to what she does and does it well. My dog and I recently meant her new partner Dr. Kelsey and she is great as well! The entire time I have taken my dog there, Dr. Bender, Dr. Kelsey, and their AMAZING vet tech/support staff (shout out to Ashley, Lora, Hannah, Julie, Amber & Chelsea) have answered all my questions (trust me, there were many) and concerns and made sure my dog was seen whenever he needed to. I know he was not their only patient and it had to have been difficult to squeeze him in, but they never made me feel like I was wasting their time. And on one of the worst days of my life, when I had to say goodbye to my beloved pup, they went above and beyond and made sure it was a peaceful, comforting experience. I highly recommend this place!

I was forced to give them one star... they do not deserve it.

They did tests but with no vet at the clinic. He would have to wait for surgery or 10k to bring a vet in. The only surgery on that day that was offered was to removed the eye. We paid $530 for the test and antibiotics because my dad wanted to save the eye so we brought him back home. Look at if the swelling was going down, with the medication. The swelling went down but his eye is still not getting back into place. (They had to pull it to do the test) The dog now has lost vision in the eye and we would run the risk of infection. So we called to book an appointment on Monday. We got an appointment for the following Wednesday. Appointment on march 13. I showed up around 9:45AM my dad was already there with the dog. They showed up at 9 as they were priority and needed to come in (receptionist conversation with dad). They had to leave so I stayed with the dog. It is currently 12:07 I don't know when they will bring him in for surgery. No update its a very long time to wait. I just seen a vet tech around 12:20 she took his weight and told me they would run more test but probably no surgery today... unless we would try to save his eyes... so now they are offering to save his eyes...3 days after... however what is the point of appointment if we lose a whole day and the dog is not being cared for... Nothing more happend... I left around 4:30 I had to go eat a little something. My dad had just got back so we switched. When I came back at 6:35 they were in the office with the vet. We got told to leave him for the night as he would get is operation in the morning tomorrow. And we could pick him up on the 14 in the evening. I have to add that All day (13th) we did not take the chance to feed him because we thought he would be having his surgery and we didn't want him to throw up... from there it seems like he was in good hands the vet called us that evening to Told us about his blood test... I thought that was very thoughtful. Same thing on the 14 nothing...no news. We didn't want to call if he was still recovering. But my dad called at 5:30PM asking if they had any news. He was next in line what ever that meant. (I probably sound like a Karen right now) But I would have appreciated an update. We got news at 6:30PM his operation had been done and... they would need to keep him another night. I will update tomorrow. 7K for the eye removal... they charge emergency price but don't have enough vets to offer reasonable services/treatments. I would not recommend this vet... Also *** While I was waiting a lady was there with her dog. She didn't see anyone for her dog they simply told her after 45 minute waiting. That they did not offer that service to go at another location and charged her $50. I thought that was terrible...

Then within some time a " nurse" triaged him. She told me he seems to have a cough and couldnt really see or hear anything. My goodness! We waited in that lil room for another 2 hours when finally I went to the front desk to be told that he wont be seen until later that day or night! Really?!!!! No one informed me and my precious dog had laboured breathing?!!!! I wasnt happy at all , so unprofessional! Then they said( only after me asking how long it will be to see a doctor!!!) They told me to go home and they will call me. In the meantime I drove him to the Eagleson Vet hospital. I called ahead to explain about my fog's laboured breathing. We got there, and they got us a room, and a doctor saw to him right away. He listen to his lungs like the other " triage nurse" at alta vista, and he indeed saw what I saw and heard his lungs! BIG mistake Alta Vista! Then Eagleson Vet Hospital did an xray asap and my poor baby was dying of lung cancer!!! I saw the xrays myself. Very disgusted by Alta Vista Vet Hospital! The Eagleson Vet Hospital gave him meds to help his breathing until I could attange my family to come in to put our sweet doggie out of his suffering! His lungs were full of cancer! The icing on the cske, Alta Vista Vet Hospital called me back more than 24 hours later!!!! Shame on you Alta Vista " Hospital"!!!! DISGUSTED! Shame on you!!!!
