First and Foremost is that they 100% believe in the saying " NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND". My little brother started to have some problems in school and his teachers did everything they could to help build his self esteem and grades back up. Mr. Iwasaki...forgive me if i spelled that wrong....was such an inspiration to him and he was stern, but calm. Stern enough to demand respect, but calm enough to make my brother listen and learn. Big thanks to you. The other AMAZING thing about Renaissance Academy is their main office secretary Ms. Brazil. This woman needs to win an award for sweetest woman EVER. She knows every kid by face and their parents too. When i would call and say, " Hi Ms. Brazil this is RJ's sister Ja", cutting me off saying "OH hello sweetheart how are you?"....I have probably only seen her in person maybe five times. She has a passion for her job that I have never see in an educator. When you see her you just want to hug her. She is so kind hearted. A true Angel. If you know anyone who is looking for a middle school that actually cares that the children are learning what they are saying, then tell them about this school. I love the principal, he really understands all aspects of his job and performs it with ease and intelligence. The math department in particular really shines. No wheelchair accessible doors, on top of everything we were asked to move and sit in a corner by the door, where there was no other seating. So that he wasn't in the way. They offered to bring me a folding chair if I wanted to sit by him. Talk about inconsiderate. The lady was rude, but "trying" to act like she was being accommodating. Her name is Ms. Spiers. I loved high school, it was one of the most memorable periods of my life because I made great…read morefriends who I still talk to today, the activities that this school puts were great, and from my experience there wasn't an obvious sense of social stratification, ... though people did hang out in certain groups/cliques but this school was so diverse that you could make friends with anybody from a wide range of backgrounds. I was part of the thunderously hip Japanese Program, I took part in F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.S., homecoming, I wish I had joined some clubs but I made a great group of friends, and that's the greatest accomplishment one could ask for. I don't know which teachers are still teaching. But Okuda was awesome, Cervantes was knowledgeable, Hall was scary at times but definitely a GREAT teacher. This school was awesome and I really miss high school bc of how fun it was for me. So if you want to make your HS years memorable, MAKE IT memorable :) Make the best out of it.

I have been called multiple times slurs and insults like the n word, r word,f word, f slur, alien, and the list goes on and on. And most of these come from people who are the definition of "popular" kids. Please teachers and admins, open your eyes and address this. I have been called more slurs and derogatory words than I have ever been called in my entire life in just one year. Do better, and raise more awareness and strictness over this.
