I should move from Lexington to Winchester so I can live where stores offer this kind of value and service. The store is conveniently located on Main Street but seemed to have more stuff than the Lowe's superstore near me (where their inventory is a hopelessly disorganized mess). D&S Hardware is well stocked in the way hardware stores were before the big box retailers took over. I love D&S Hardware... not just the large variety of merchandise, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great value. I love the customer oriented attitude they convey and the entire experience of shopping there.

Why? Because you get one on one help even when its with the littlest of things such as the needing the right screws. This is important to me especially when I'm in a hurry. Chevy Chase came through for me. There is plenty of off street parking in the back plus a back door for customers. The inside of the store seems huge but its hard to tell since the aisles are narrow and it looks like its two buildings put together inside. The rows of aisles is endless it seems. I got there just before closing and did not have time to browse the whole store. Staff was super friendly and extra helpful. I highly recommend this store for your home maintenance needs.

They have a large array of hardware and farming items. You can rent backhoes and things of that nature. You can also buy bulk mulch or rocks. Their prices are low and their service is great. I purchased some unique post cards that she had made of downtown's across Kentucky. The owner advised that she is attempting to have a set of cards from each County in Kentucky. Customer service girl was short and abrupt from the very beginning. It didn't get any better when it was found that my number was no longer in their system. When a manager was requested he was even worse. I get it's the holidays and they are busy, but still. No apology for not being able to help, no attempt to solve the problem another way. It began to devolve into an argument due to the managers lack of professionalism before I finally just walked away. Amazing who RK thinks is fit to "lead" their brand.
