Several months ago, I was on the hunt to hire a make-up artist for my wedding, and Briette was personally recommended to me. After I checked out her website and spoke to her on the phone, I was blown away by her knowledge and professionalism. Needless to say, I booked her immediately. First off, the trial was extremely affordable ($30). Briette is extremely talented and did a very good job at listening and creating the look I was going for. For once, I felt and looked like a million bucks! On the day of the wedding, Briette showed up 20 minutes early. Yes, she travels to you! I can't tell you how invaluable this service is on a hectic wedding day! She made everyone feel comfortable and did 5 faces (including mine) in less than 3 hours. It was extremely relaxing and felt like a facial. EVERYONE was extremely pleased with their make-up (including two very reluctant mothers who religiously don't wear make-up at all!) As a bride trying to coordinate my wedding from across the pond (I live in the UK), there were a lot of things about my wedding that I had to just cross my fingers and hope it all worked out. Seeing as I chose Briette's services based entirely, 100% off her Yelp reviews and wasn't in town early enough to have my trial until 3 days before the wedding, Briette happened to fit into this category. Thankfully, Yelp users, you were all totally and completely right on. Where to start? First, the trial: I am not a picky person and I don't know a lot about makeup. I've bought the same staples since I was 13 and applied them in basically the same way since. My maid of honor, however, is a different story. Briette told me to expect the trial to take about 45 minutes - an hour and a half later, she was still smiling as my maid of honor asked her to tweak that line, or lighten that crease. I was amazed by her patience and positive attitude. She never once looked at her watch or showed any sign of anything other than happiness to be in her element, creating her art. Oh, and by the way - I looked friggin awesome. Then, the day of the wedding. Needless to say, it was hectic and crazy. Briette remained a center of calm throughout the day, and even stayed AFTER the bridesmaids and I left to finish my mom's makeup. At one point, she had to sit around as we were all doing God-knows-what-now, and she just... hung out. No fuss. No rolled eyes or furrowed brows. Just.. calm, cool, collected. EXACTLY what any stressed out bride needs on the day of her wedding!! Oh, and did I mention? I looked friggin awesome! :) (No, but seriously - my makeup stayed on all night and looked phenomenal. I have photos from the afterparty - because yes, there was an afterparty - and my makeup is STILL perfect! I looked like myself, just 50 billion times better and more glamorous than I could ever imagine.) I was so, SO happy that I chose to go with Briette, not only because she did an exceptional job, was actually affordable in a business that is generally extortionate, and put up with my difficult to please friends, but also because she obviously got so much joy out of what she does - her professionalism, calm demeanor, positivity and overall happiness are characteristics that are so much appreciated on any day, but particularly on your wedding day. Briette did the makeup for five of us at my wedding a couple of months ago. This review is going to be a song of praise in honor of her talents and professionalism, with additional props to how AFFORDABLE her services are. (I know, can you believe it? A makeup artist that does not require you to choose between her services, and an open bar!) Originally I'd been looking at someone whose services were far more expensive, but who had a ton of amazing reviews on here. She did airbrush, though, and I thought that was what I wanted. I did a trial with her and while the makeup was lovely, it was just...too much. I wanted to look like the most gorgeous version of my real-life self, not like I was ready to go on stage at Madison Square Garden and get photographed from 10,000 yards away by long-lens-toting paparazzi. So, in comes Briette. I'd blown so much money on the other trial that I think I was first intrigued by the fact that I could *afford* Briette's trial. That happened at her apartment, a super clean and pleasant space. I loved what she did, dug her general vibe (laid-back and friendly), and signed a contract then and there -- but still felt a little nervous, because she just seemed too good to be true. Nope, she's even better than she first appeared. She answered every inquiry I sent her over the next few months within 24 hours, and often much sooner. (How many inquiries can one bride send a makeup artist? I would not have known the answer myself, before wedding madness descended. Just trust me when I say that Briette's patience was a great testament to her.) The week before, she was in steady communication as I fretted over details like the schedule for bridesmaids and mothers' makeup vis-a-vis the first look and formal photos that preceded our ceremony. She offered a very helpful timeline that we ended up following precisely. The morning of, she was there on time, full of smiles, and instantly grooved with everyone in the room. Briette also managed to leave EVERYONE satisfied with their makeup, which is no small feat when two of the ladies were makeup hounds who'd been doing their own for years, and wanted a heavier look; two other of the ladies were in their sixties, and wanted a lighter look; and I, of course, was the inevitable "weepy" bride who was tearing up every other freaking second from sheer jubilant joy. Somehow my mascara never ran, not even when I sobbed through the ceremony. And you know all those people who say that airbrush is the only way your makeup will hold up throughout the night? Briette did the perfect job for my wedding. She is very nice, patient, of course knows what she is doing and has a great taste. Her rates is unbeatable for the quality of service you get. I'm Asian and some Asian faces absorb the makeup very well, which means if you put a little more makeup and it would look too much. My friend and I had experience on the makeup counter trials where we requested smoke eye makeup and the result looks like we got punched in the eyes. But Briette did mine and my wedding party's makeup in the perfect amount. And her eyebrow job is SUPERB! I planned my Chicago wedding from Boston so I relied on recommendations to find the vendors I worked with. Briette was recommended to me by my hairstylist Theodora, and she was awesome! Briette really knows how to make a person look their best. She did makeup for myself, 3 bridesmaids and 3 mothers on the wedding day. A couple months prior to the wedding I was in Chicago so I went to Briette's home studio to have a trial. I didn't have any idea what I wanted my makeup to look like, but Briette went right to work. When I saw the final look I was amazed! I have never looked so good! The look was very natural and enhanced my features very well. On the wedding day Briette traveled to our downtown hotel and she arrived early. She worked all day on everyone's makeup and we were all so happy with the final look. My mother-in-law was concerned that she had too much makeup on, but now when she looks at pictures of herself on the wedding day she says how nice it looked. Briette was my makeup artist for our wedding last Sat and she did an AMAZING job. She is professional, talented, funny, fast and accommodating. At my trial, she had great suggestions and was great about using pics from Pinterest to help come up with looks and suggestions. She was also great with my mom's makeup, my mother looked amazing. This was important since I love my mom to death but I think her makeup could use some updating and she insisted on wearing her glasses but Briette totally delivered. My mom loved the makeup and her being a conservative lady, terrified of having someone else do her makeup, that said a lot. A lot of wedding makeup artists think the only way to do a wedding day look is to slap on a ton of makeup, and even more so on the bride.
