Within a few days of our son's first day at Kiddie City, all of our worries subsided. Every morning our son is so excited as soon as we enter the front door and he cannot wait to be handed off to the teachers. Kiddie City utilizes an interactive mobile app to keep parents constantly updated throughout the day on naps, feedings, diapers, etc... Additionally, they frequently post pictures of the children playing and I've never seen our son without a huge smile on his face. The teachers are quick to respond to any questions or concerns, and they make sure to keep the parents informed to ease any concerns. Knowing how happy our son is at Kiddie City is so reassuring that we made the right choice in daycares and we cannot recommend them enough.

They often have "floaters" that go room to room but are still not meeting the state required minimum. There is a lack of communication between staff and management and little or no communication to the parents. This facility has only been open since September 2018 so it is clean and new, however, they already have 2 complaints on file with the state licensing board and the Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit. The caregivers in the infant rooms have been amazing my son loves them! They have really gotten to know our son and have done an amazing job caring for him. I love that they update you all day on the app so you can see their schedule and how they're progressing. They do a great job sticking to our schedule. If there's ever an issue, they call right away and let you know! Management has also changed in the past year (2 people had turned over in the time we started) and the past few months have been great. I love the management in there now! They also do a great job with different activities and arts and crafts at the school. They've done tons of different theme weeks, decorations, quarterly fun fairs and more interactive elements for the kids which has been cute! The only improvements I'd like to see is more so in the afternoon pick up time. I've seen a lot of the care givers switching rooms at pick up time (so I may not recognize the teacher in there) and sometimes the kids to teacher ratio is off at the end of the day.

I'll start with what is good about this place (not much). The lead teachers genuinely care about the children and put a lot into their care. The staff also take the time to know the kids' names. I only wish the management and staff put a fraction of that effort into their relations with the parents. They do not. If you ask questions or raise any issues, the management is immediately defensive, dismissive, and do not take the time to consider their clients' concerns. Not one bit! Are the parents not the customers? Don't you believe you should invest in building trust and transparency with parents? Not close to the customer comes first. Not by a long shot. Our child (age 3) had an incident where she hit her head. My wife was told by the manager that our daughter is clumsy, and she has seen her being clumsy. She is 3! Aren't they called toddlers? When she hit her head, a report was filed. At pick up, I was told to "just sign the report" as the person at the desk was on the phone. When in the classroom, I inquired about what happened and was told "we have no idea. It was with the morning teacher. You can just ask her tomorrow". What? The afternoon was like a revolving door with different junior staff covering, as the lead teacher left before 3 PM. They never greeted you when you came to pick-up. New faces never introduced themselves as "my name is and I'm covering for..." Never! They would say "Annie, your dad is here" and then return to what they were doing. This included either cleaning the room during school hours or uploading photos to their App on an iPad, not teaching or working with the kids. When our daughter started, they had no nametag for her place at the table. This went on for almost a month before we brought it up and they dismissively tried to tell us that they were "ruined" and required new ones. She never had one. More excuses! Then, they made one and her name was MISSPELLED! They are "teaching" her spelling, but they can't spell her first name. It was never fixed. The curriculum is entirely vague and we never received learning packets, progress reports, or any written updates on learning. If you do want your kid to sit in front of a screen and learn solely from a cartoon elephant, this is an expensive place where you can do just that. Go ahead, they are more than happy to take your money! In fact, that was their primary focus. Communication with parents is abysmal! Our daughter's lead teacher, the single element of consistency in this whole place, decided to leave and nothing was communicated to the parents. No phone call. No email. No communication of "since we are losing Ms. X, Ms. Y will be filling in for the rest of summer". ZERO! Complete reliance on technology. Zero professional communication skills. Honesty and trust are paramount with this dynamic. We got neither!

Whippany KinderCare has turned out to be one of the biggest blessings for our family for so many reasons. One of the things we are so impressed by and pleased with is how much the director (Chelsea) and assistant director (Leah) are involved with all the kids. If we ever have a question, they always are aware of how our daughter is doing because they keep tabs with her teacher on the regular and can answer anything with confidence. Seeing how our daughter was progressing, it was suggested that we move her up a class. We were a little nervous to do this six weeks early but with their support and after being offered to do a trial day, to our surprise everything went amazingly well! Our daughter is learning so much and we already see such an improvement in her language development (both sign and vocal) and other skills like how to use utensils and not throw food at the table. It truly is such a joy to see how much she is growing here. As a parent, you obviously want nothing but the best care for your kid and we have no doubt we made the right decision with Whippany KinderCare. Especially during the pandemic, knowing that the center has been taking every reasonable precaution (temperature checks at the door, constant sanitizing of the school, the use of masks for teachers and children, no outside toys, etc.) further gives us peace of mind that our daughter is in safe hands. Please understand that my daughter was always happy to go there because of her teachers. The teachers do the best they can, but they lack appropriate training and sometimes resources. My biggest issue was with management. From my personal experience, since I am a teacher myself and deal with parents and here management was never the most professional with me as a parent. It really hurt me that we felt pushed out. They wouldn't accommodate my schedule and didn't guarantee me a spot for my daughter. They said they would let me know in advance and never did, which led me to find another school and know about my options, because they wouldn't give me an answer. As far as academics is concerned, my daughter didn't learn much there. They would play all day, hence she was always happy to go. I never saw a real progress in her learning. The administration was never willing to accommodate a family who had already been there for 2 years. They didn't care about losing us and pushed us out. Another issue was that there was no one you can take formal concerns to. They were all extremely close at a personal level and I knew I would not be heard. I would only recommend this place for your child's care if you want them to play all day and you want good rates. But be aware if you are 5 minutes late, you will be charge per half hour. I have to be honest as I never felt my daughter was neglected or in danger, but definitely didn't get the best educational experience there. This place could be a better place for families around BR if they take a better business management approach, which they have lack of.
