Horrendous like all bright horizons that care about one thing and one thing only, your money. Surely you heard about the abuse of children at the Columbus circle BH location, that is this same group. The teachers here are utterly disdainful that they have to take care of your kids. They have no interest in it. Leave them in poop diapers all day, probably take their food too. Hopefully there will be a in depth investigation of this BH bc of so many complaints. read more

We intended to start our journey with BH in September of 2020 but the pandemic happened and we held off for a few more months just to see how everything settled as daycare facilities started to open back up after the shut-down. We ended up starting our son when he was 10.5 months old in the infant room. As much as a new parent worries about their child, I really felt so comfortable knowing how safe and happy he was there. Every day, the app was updated with details on his feedings, sleep, diapers, activities, and even pictures of everything he was doing that day (which went a long way since parents are not allowed inside at this time for health and safety measures). I genuinely trust all the teachers to keep him safe, enrich his learning, and have fun doing it. I get regular check-ins with the teachers and the staff about his progress (which has been really incredible - I'm almost upset we didn't start sooner!). When we transitioned him to the 1 yr old classroom, the infant teacher, the toddler teacher, AND the director of the center all met with us (virtually bc of Covid) to help us make a smooth transfer from one space to the next (which is kind of a big deal bc kids take naps on cots, they all keep the same schedule, there's different toys and activities, etc). I was so pleased with how much attention is given to my son and his learning and growth. He's in a class with 8 total students now and 2-3 teachers at any given time. Every day the teachers plan different activities for students' development - like yoga, art, songs, literacy, science, and probably more that I'm forgetting! The teachers put in daily notes to us, letting us know if we need to bring more diapers or if someone had a little too much fun with the apple butter that it required a shirt change (haha!) - so we always feel in the loop even though we can't physically go into the center at this time. Also, I want to just mention their health and safety protocols bc it's so important and they do an absolutely phenomenal job with this for a few reasons: 1. They have a very efficient process utilizing their app to do the covid screening (do you have a fever, cough, have you travelled, etc) before you enter the facility 2. There's always a warm and happy greeter at the door (in head to toe PPE) who checks the screening form, then takes the temperature of both the child and the parent before the child is allowed entry 3. All the staff wear masks (seen in all the photos posted in the app too!) and takes health and safety very seriously 4. If there are any health (non-Covid) issues (like a scratch or head bump), they immediately call you to inform you of the incident (they always preface the call with "he is okay, but..." which I appreciate so I don't freak out) and then they present a report detailing the incident at pickup so everyone has a clear record. We really couldn't be happier having sent our son here - he has learned how to nap better, weaned off bottles way easier, learned all kinds of new skills, made friends and so much more all because of the wonderful teachers and staff at Bright Horizons! Today was my first time using back-up advantage at Bright Horizons. I chose this location since I had to attend a training nearby. Booking the date in advance was easy. I used the app and called to make sure it went through. They explained what I needed to bring; extra clothes, diapers/wipes and a cold lunch. They are a nut free facility. The place itself is beautiful. Everything is organized and child friendly. They have a list of children who are expected to attend for the day and their assigned a classroom. The classroom had two teachers and the class setup was really cute. From the looks of it the classroom looked very clean. They gave me a form to fill out with some basic questions about my child and that was it. Pick up was fine. There was another teacher when I came in because the two were out for lunch. He was really nice and told me my child had a good day. They gave me a form with the activities my child participated in and what they ate. It even says how many times their diaper was changed. According to the form they changed the diaper twice but there were less diapers in the bag. Dont know what happened to the rest of them, but hey if they needed it that's fine. My child was happy and liked it so I would use this location again if I find myself needing back up care in the area. read more

Our 7 months old son barely ate anything here, which is very unusual since he loves eating and happily eats almost anything. Did they even try to feed him? Also, I saw one "teacher" look at her iPad on a rocking chair the entire time we spent settling in our son. We used Bright Horizons for back up care but never again. Our now 3.5 year old has been with Bright Horizons - Pine Street since she was 3 months. Letting another take care of our one and only most precious asset is one of the important decision you will make for your little one. After being here for three full years on a full time extended hours schedule, I can wholeheartedly recommend Bright Horizons - Pine Street. The teachers are genuinely warm, caring and genuine. They also have the added benefit of engaging with outside resources such as inviting local librarians to read tot he children, Little Green Gourmet to prepare and deliver delicious organic meals and chess and music instructors. After a rough start at another day care, we decided to enroll our 4 month old daughter at 20 Pine. We were really nervous to try another day care, especially one that required a commute from Brooklyn, but we are so happy that we decided to send our daughter here. From our initial visit to our meeting with her teacher, we knew that she would be in good hands. Jessica and her team are AMAZING at what they do. Everyone at 20 Pine knows my daughter's name and they treat our entire family with warmth, compassion and professionalism. Working with babies is HARD and her teachers are incredibly patient, loving and interactive. They clearly love what they do and we have seen how much our daughter has grown in the few months that she has been there. We love the Bright Horizons app where we can get updates on what she's doing all day. You can get alerts when your baby has a bottle, wakes from a nap, etc. but more importantly you get photos of your child throughout the day. As a working mom, it makes me feel better knowing what she's doing while I'm away. This is our first child and it was really hard to leave her to go back to work but it is such a relief to drop her off every day knowing that she is being cared for by such amazing people. Everyone from the teachers to the office manager to the director to the support staff here are wonderful. I can't recommend 20 Pine enough. I promise it's worth the ferry/subway ride to Manhattan for other Brooklyn parents looking for a day care for their children! read more

I am not a yelper, but when your only child goes to day care for the first time and it's beyond fabulous, I had to share. I was a nervous wreck, but even after my intake meeting with my daughters teacher, I started to breathe. I have never experienced such professionalism, Love and understanding like this. Everyday I want to hug all that work at 20 Pine Bright Horizons, especially Ms. Christin, my daughters teacher. The notes everyday and pictures just make me so happy and set my mind at ease. She has even sent me emails mid morning to let me know that my daughter is doing great! My daughter has grown leaps and bounds. The curriculum is outrageous. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I am a working mom and needed emergency back up care as I had a sick child. I confirmed with Bright Horizons the evening before, and my sitter was supposed to arrive at 8.30am. They never showed up, no phone call, no email or text. Just a no show. Was so upsetting for me and my girls. Bright horizons said they would have someone "review the situation". The guy who was supposed to manage the company that the nanny was coming from called the night before to confirm sitter would be there FROM A BAR. I could barely hear him. His phone was turned off next morning. He finally called me at 9.30 to say sorry that she didn't show up. He sounded disoriented and like he had just rolled out of bed--I am assuming hung over. Bright Horizons finally found someone but not until I had already found someone on my own and was on my way to work at 10.30. I wasted so much time on the phone with them. They made a tough situation worse and I hope they don't have the opportunity to put any other working moms or more importantly children in the situation. Words cannot express how thankful I am for the team at Bright Horizons at 20 Pine. My son has been enrolled since the age of 3 months, and as he now approaches age 5 and Kindergarten I truly have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. I fully believe that the happy, bright, curious and social boy my son has become is due to his tenure at the school. The staff, from leadership to every teacher we have encountered, is engaged, passionate and truly the best of the best. There was a brief period we tried another school closer to home and very quickly realized how superior Bright Horizons 20 Pine was, and quickly moved back! We were in this daycare for less than a week. Fortunately, I was able to help our 5mo old acclimate & ultimately decided this would not be the daycare for her. I was able to come to see her several times a day as we live nearby. Here are the things I noticed and hope would help other new mothers who are choosing daycares: 1) the age gap is important. Many daycares in the city have 3 or 6 mo age gap for infants. This one has 0-12mo (sometimes up to 14mo) in a class together. 12mo old can walk and grab. During my 5 visits, I saw 4 incidents where an older child grabbed the face (digging into the eye even) of other infants who cannot move. Teachers sometimes saw it & others not, and I had to point it out & stop the child sometimes. This leads to the next: 2) student- teacher ratio. 4:1 is the state mandated max ratio. The teachers at BH have good intentions & most are very nice, but they are stretched thin. Mornings are usually chaotic & our daughter's pacifier & food container were lost (even tho we had only been there for 4 days). This also results in less attentive teachers who are desensitized to children crying. Here's the solicited feedback I gave to the daycare for withdrawing her: In the few days She has been there, I've seen mornings where the student: teacher ratio going above state mandated number, Her name label not printed, some students have baskets in the fridge & others don't, fridge too small for all the kids foods, leading to Her pacifier & food container being misplaced & lost. These are all small things we could overlook. What made us change our mind about BH @ 20Pine were: 1) when we picked up our daughter yesterday, the room had 2 different teachers. She was stuck half-turned with a cheek on the floor & an arm under her, screaming & lost her voice. One teacher was feeding another child while another teacher was checking some form. While it's not expected to address our child's needs immediately, I also find it difficult to understand why couldn't the teacher help turn her for one second before returning to a form. She was obviously stuck in that position for a while because the drool gave her cheek a bad rash when I got to her. (See photo) 2) Our daughter was running a fever of 102+ when I picked her up yesterday. Her hands & feet were extremely cold & her head very warm. I noticed & knew immediately it was a fever, even as a first time mother; I am very surprised that the experienced teachers were inattentive enough to not have noticed. 3) I saw two sick teachers working with small infants throughout the week. We are moving her to Trinity, which has a better student- teacher ratio and cleaner facility. read more

We had a great experience at Bright Horizons at 20 Pine. My daughter was in the toddler group, and we really appreciated the flexibility of the program. The teachers were warm and caring - my daughter loved Miss Annie, and she was always loving and so friendly. The program director Jessica was also very helpful and responsive whenever we had a question. We also appreciated the daily updates complete with pictures so we could see the activities she engaged in, what she ate, how long she slept etc. We knew our baby was in great hands there, and that's all you can ask for! read more

We signed up our 19 month old daughter at this location for full time care 2 days a week. We brought her in 3 times and every time she came home un-fed. We will not be bringing her in anymore. She is very well accustomed to being at daycare and has, in fact, attended another bright horizons facility since she was 3 months old (we never had a problem and love the other center) This is inexcusable, irresponsible behavior which I will certainly not accept or endorse. Spare yourself the grief and take your child elsewhere. No wonder there are hardly any children at this location. read more

This school has been amazing. The staff and teachers know my son - they make him happy and teach him things that he doesn't have the interest to learn from mom... like listening and manners. But it goes beyond that - going everyday has helped his speech more than his speech therapists ever had. The teachers actively engage his speaking skills. They encourage him to learn and communicate with unwavering patience. The curriculum is all-inclusive - teaching every skill imaginable. From soccer, baseball, yoga, chess, cooking, art, science, etc. My son is almost 4 and I usually can't get him to sit still yet he absolutely loves doing yoga and I see him thrive from it! He taught me downward dog! He can write his own name. The teachers are excellent - especially in the toddler, preschool, kindergarten prep classrooms. They truly care. They have creative lessons that the children love! They encourage friendships and teach the children about kindness. As a parent, you want your child to be happy and safe while learning. I witnessed, first hand, how much safety was a priority to the staff and teachers. There was a very serious incident in Chase Plaza on 3/11/19. I happened to be dropping my son off at the same time. I witnessed, first hand, how well the staff and teachers handled the situation. Everyone reacted swiftly and decisively, without hesitation. All the teachers immediately drew the kids' attention away from the windows and carried on smoothly. Everyone continued to be happy and lessons were not disrupted. I'm always impressed with everyone there at Bright Horizons but seeing this reaction in person is noteworthy. Do not take your budding child here. The administration is completely chaotic. The "curriculum" is un-thought out and haphazard. That "curriculum" is them put into the hands of "teachers" who have zero experience. They won't share teachers' experience with you because they have none. The teachers are paid minimum wage and there is so much instability in the classrooms as a result of teachers not showing up, quitting, being late, and not being intelligent, motivated people. These are not the persons you want caring for your infant or toddler. The administration is completely out of control and out of touch with respect to what happens in the classroom and there is so much talk about abstract teaching goals while in reality, the teachers can barely keep a classroom from veering into chaos.
