Go here for hair color. Immediately. First and foremost, this 5-star review is primarily due to Andrea. She is fantastic. More later. Bright is a boutique salon on the outskirts of downtown Columbus. It carries Keratase brand products which are quite pricey (reference point - $42 for a bottle of shampoo) but worth it. A huge wall of products lines the hall when you enter the salon (from the back where there is parking). The salon itself is small but clean. There is a dry bar on one side for blow outs and large black-trimmed mirrored stations in the middle. Everyone at the salon is courteous and polite to not just their clients but to each other. You can tell that there is a huge sense of "team" here. As an Instagram junkie, I am always on the prowl for beautiful, pretty and stylish things. I follow a lot of seemingly random people in various industries who either have amazing vision or have excellent execution - and one of those industries is hair - specifically hair color. There is a particular stylist's technique and work that I had been admiring for a while. When I went into the salon to see Andrea, she knew EXACTLY who it was even though all I said "I've been following this stylist from Cali". I was so surprised! It is just so unexpected for a small salon in Columbus, GA. Part of what makes Bright great is that they send their stylists to hair shows and conferences every year to learn about new trends, techniques, and products. The staff is educated and constantly perfecting their craft with the best instruction. Andrea is highly talented. Not only is she up-to-date with the latest and greatest but she can EXECUTE as well. This past weekend, she took her time and did an amazing color on me. She took me to the lightest hair color that I've ever had (my hair is naturally black) and worked off of my existing ombré (she did that color as well). The look that I was asking for involves a lot of subtlety and only someone who knows of and understands multiple techniques would be able to pull it off. Andrea did and I lovvvvvedddd the result. the place is clean and it's professional but way overpriced. this would've been a four star review had i not been charged what i was. $235 for partial hair lifting and color. no trim, nothing extra, not even styled. the bill wasn't itemized and i had no idea what exactly i paid for. it looks nice but i feel like i got scammed honestly. if two people working on my hair at once meant i'd be charged more, i wouldn't have known and would not have had that happen. place is probably more for people with lots of money, clearly i wasn't their target customer. will not be returning and telling people to stay away. read more

The male owner took me back- I was nervous since I saw a poor review about him online. I'm excited to say that Jamie was awesome! He did such a great job on my hair and was in love when I left. Honestly, I chose this salon because their website is cool. Man, that is a slick website. Their Facebook page also has a bunch of candid reviews and helpful info. I am a shy Minnesotan who prefers internet stalking to cold-calling, so these resources are very much appreciated. At my appointment, Nija was tasked with taking me from my natural light brown color to the brightest blonde I could get without going Daenerys/Gwen silver-white. This is a pretty long and costly procedure, so mad props to Nija for communicating with me so well and sitting tight through bleach, foils, toner and more. I have no idea what L'Oreal magic went into my hair but it sure was gentle and smelled great. (I love when the philosophy is "you don't ask questions about the products, you don't get pitched products.") When I told Nija I wouldn't be in the Columbus area long and hoped to find a L'Oreal salon close to home, she jotted down some notes for me to take to my future stylist. So thoughtful. If you're in the Columbus area for good, definitely consider making Bright your go-to salon. read more

Loved Bright!! Went today to get my hair cut and styled and my stylist did such an incredible job. It's hard to find good salons in this area that are affordable and this was a little pricey but worth it for the value. That's the only reason i didn't give them 5 stars - paid $45 for a cut and blow dry. But again, she did an incredible job and I will definitely go back... and recommend to friends. read more

Stephanie did my hair and makeup for an event this week and she was amazing! She was open to any suggestions I had and was willing to make any changes (but she didn't need to, she did a great job!). She also worked so hard to make sure my hair stood up against the rain and the humidity. It held the whole night, which usually never happens for me. Amazing. I moved to Columbus recently from Baton Rouge. I had a dear and talented friend I trusted completely with my hair back home and I was really nervous about finding a new salon. I even considered driving back home every six weeks to get my hair colored and cut before realizing that was crazy. I made an appointment with Jaime. I arrived and found plenty of parking behind the shop. When coming from downtown, you have to drive past the shop to turn into the parking lot behind. It's not super easy to see when driving up, but once you know it's there, it is super convenient. I was greeted immediately and directed to the bathroom for a smock. I gave Jaime my formula and she consulted with someone else on how to convert for their products. They got to work and offered something to drink while they worked. They were friendly and knowledgeable. It's not the cheapest but I didn't find it out of line with similar salons I've been to over the years. Their product line is great (kerastase). I was able to easily make my next Saturday appointment before leaving. I've been back once more and have scheduled my next appointment. My hair looks great. Jaime has since left and she was amazing, but she introduced me to Hailey who will do my hair next and I'm confident she'll be just as awesome. read more

First off let me start by saying I walked into the salon with reddish blond and green sour patch kids chunks. I left thanks to Laura feeling and looking like a million bucks. The ambience of the salon is very chic and inviting the staff and owners were very friendly. I was offered a beverage right off hand. From the moment I sat in the chair it was all about me! The best part of my visit wasn't just the outcome it was the one on one. Right from the start she asked what I wanted Out of today's visit and told me truthfully what she could do. Thanks for your honesty and the fact that you genuinely was concerned about my hair and not causing anymore harm. After hours of coloring setting and treatment my hair felt healthier than it felt in a long time. Next came the cut which I have to say the women she is a genius with those scissors WOW! Next the styling before she would add a product she explained what the product was being used. She didn't overload my hair with many didn't product either. (Thanks for that). She showed me the technique on how to get volume and body to my hair without damaging it.. (Again very helpful). Best part even after all the treatment and styling she wasn't pushy about selling the products that were used on my masterpiece she handed me my style card and showed me each one simple as that. I would not let the owner (male) touch your hair. I had it colored and not only did he not give me what I asked for, so many people made comments to me asking who did it so they know not to go there. My experience at Bright salon was pretty positive. I should start by saying my hair is incredibly thick. I've been processing my hair for 15 years now, everything from platinum blonde to nearly black, red and purple as well. I desperately wanted to return to my natural color (very dark blonde, dirty blonde). Not only was the process intense, it was very lengthy. Ryan, one of the Bright salon owners, worked a bit of magic in my hair. He lifted my hair from a dark chocolate cherry to a level we didn't think was possible. I was in the salon for six hours, and the owners and staff went out of their way accommodating my needs and comforts in such a long process. Ryan and his wife, co-owner Laura, stayed after hours to finish up my hair. My hair required stripping, and there will be some recovery needed, but overall the condition of my hair is remarkable! I love the final look, and I love the products I purchased at Bright to help my hair recover. I would recommend Bright to anyone, with the understanding that it's an upscale salon that comes with an upscale price tag. read more

Agree with the previous post completely! I have black/Indian hair and I wanted to get a subtle teal/blue ombre effect on my hair. I had gone to a prior salon in Florida which after a 4 hour process my hair was the same black color it normally is. I was afraid to try again especially after my first failed attempt at coloring my hair. However Andrea did an AMAZING job! I showed her a picture of what I had wanted. If I could give 0 stars I could. I'm an out of towner and went bc of the great reviews. I asked for a service and they didn't deliver. My hair is dirty dish water blonde after asking for balayage hair!! I asked for a refund or even half. They offered me a free blow out. A blow out can not fix my color. I have no problem paying for color when it's what I want ! I walked out with a soaking wet head, bc they ran out of time, which they were informed of when I made the appt. I set In the chair for 3 hours, just for color and I have short hair!! The color is awful to say the least. If you want to spend this kind of money and get what you want go to 501... I went to bright before a photo session to have my hair blow dried and styled, and my makeup done. I had never been there, but I assumed that I would have an experienced stylist--I was wrong. My stylists told me that she was right out of beauty school and had recently passed her boards. She also told me that she is still working as an assistant. I tried to keep an open mind because everyone starts somewhere- but in restrospect I feel like I threw away $100. At the time I didn't say anything for a few reasons: 1) I felt bad saying anything because she was very nice, 2) I was late for my appointment by the time she finished, and 3) I didn't realize how horrendous my makeup looked until I got in my car. I literally wiped all of the makeup off and re-did it myself before the pictures!! The eyeliner was in a crooked line across my eyelids, and the eyeshadow looked like a shiny blob of brown extending up to my eyebrows. My lipstick was smudged under my lips, my face was shiny. It was terrible. I couldn't believe it. Not to mention-- the little eye lashes that she added on fell off. Bright was a cute atmosphere and I'm sure that there are great stylists there-- but if you're a new client PLEASE make sure you don't assume you're getting an established stylist, ASK FOR ONE! read more

I give this a low score due to some issues I think all women are terrified of when going to a new salon, your hair looking awful. I went in with a very grown out balayage (dark roots and blonde ends). Being a new mom I desired a fresh look and got the exact opposite. She did a lift and tone after I had requested my hair to look an ashy blonde.. my hair turned out orange and I am not exaggerating, it was a very golden orange. I left very uncomfortable and confused and thought I'd give it a day to adjust in my mind. I called back and they told me they'd only give me a free toner. When I returned for the process it turned out a darker orange.. I asked her if she was going to blow dry my hair and she said that was going to be an additional $30!?? I know I had my jaw dropped as well. She then tells me that it'll look better the next time when she adds highlights.. no way was I going back. If you have blonde hair, do not go there. read more

My first experience there was the day my daughter got married. She is a client, I am not. She went there with her entire bridal party to have their hair done. I came to take pictures. No one greeted us when we walked in the door, the hair-stylists didn't have a smile on their face and the bridesmaids who were done just sat there chatting amongst themselves. They seemed to have overbooked since other clients came in and were waiting for their appointments. One stylist told my niece she was sorry she was jittery and shaky. She stated her mother thought she was an alcoholic and gave her meds. The stylist thought the meds were making her shaky, but it seemed like DT's to me. The last bridesmaid to have her hair done had three different people working on her hair at different times so the stylists could greet their clients and 'give them magazines' to look at while they waited. There seemed to be some discord between two of the stylists and they each took their turn bantering about each other at the register while we were paying to another stylist. As I sat and chatted with my sister waiting for the girls to be done, one stylist turned the music on and UP. It was loud and we noticed it right away. We kept on talking and she turned the music up even louder. Needless to say my tip was small. Here's a tip: just because your salon styled hair and make up for a country magazine doesn't mean you should lose sight of where you started. Another tip: word of mouth is one of the best ways to gain new clients. After spending upwards of $25,000 for the wedding and the honeymoon and then to pay $266 for the bride's hair and make up, I wouldn't go there if they offered a free session!!! Beware of snarky attitudes and high prices for terrible customer service, unless you are into that sort of thing!!!! read more

After showing Candace three hairstyles I was thinking of, she cut my hair. It looked great and she even showed me some tips for different ways to style the cut. ridiculously expensive for a very unprofessional attitude. I was given an appointment with the hairdresser I asked for. Then I was contacted an hour later to say that he was not available at that time. I was ok changing the time to afternoon. When the day of the appointment came, I realized that I would be 10 minutes late to my appointment. I called the salon to let them know. They gave me a hard time so I said I would be there on time. 5 minutes later the hairdresser himself called me and said that he was not in the salon, the receptionist has mixed things up and he wouldn't be there when I got there. I said ok to someone else dying my hair. When I went to the hairdresser they made me wait for more than 30 minutes! And the job they have done was worse than what I would do by myself. I would have at least tested the color on my hair before I put it all on. I asked for brown and came out with pitch black! that's the level of (un)professionalism that runs in that salon. Went there for Kerastase products in the first place but never ever going back! read more
