I had a good experience with another agency in my city but the caregiver they provided couldn't move to their OC location. I did a quick search and found Comfort Keepers. It's always nerve-wracking to choose an agency you aren't familiar with, knowing you will be stepping back and letting someone else support your loved one. Having a stranger in your house is something to get used to and not always an easy transition. From the first meet and greet with Karen and Chelsea I walked away feeling that they had a genuine concern for my father, and also my mother, who also would be in the home with him. My father has 7 day a week support and it's made such a difference in his health, wellbeing, and demeanor. He considers his "helpers" as family and hasn't had an odd fit yet. The staff is communicative when there's a sub or a change, and we're able to communicate scheduling updates easily via the phone or their website portal.

They were walked 10-12 minutes each day and were fed. However their potty area was not cleaned each day as asked. If you have Kellie stay, understand that she will go through and help herself to your personal items. She helped herself to my personal items that were out in plain sight as well as items tucked away in drawers and medicine cabinets. She finally admitted that she spilled something on my shower curtain and bath mat but she cleaned it up. Only problem is she used my iron on curtain and left iron in a position where the water spilled out and damaged shelving. Further frustrating is that my kitchen cabinets/handles and floors were left by her a filthy, sticky mess! I have discussed all of this with Kellie, so this honest review will not be of a surprise to her.

Last minute caregiver substitutions were made several times without and against our approval. Medical appointments were missed. I would NOT recommend this location.

She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's not much longer after that. She has been a member of the Alzheimer's Family Center of Huntington Beach since 2023 and I continually ask her "Do you like the Family Center?" and she always responds "Yes!". The Family Center has a staff that is caring and personable beyond reproach. They show genuine care for our loved ones. Her Neurologist has been pleasantly surprised on the last several visits because she has not detected the decline in her that was expected. I attribute much of that to loving care, engagement and social interaction that the Family Center provides for my loved one.

At the beginning they were very flexibles in changing the start date when my discharge was delayed. The two caregivers I had were superb. Both had considerable training and experience as caregivers. Cindy was right on top of things when I came home and focused on detailed information and support. Julie was equally superb in supporting me as I grew stronger and wanted to be more independent. She was very easy to be with and provided superb standby support that allowed me be safely independent. In addition the entire office staff was available and helpful whenever I contacted them.

Their caregivers are the best, my children bonded with them immediately (and my kids are crazy), they even ask about the caregivers in between their scheduled visits. I was feeling down and drowning myself in self pity one day (because the in laws didn't even acknowledge both kids' birthday), and then I received a hand written birthday card for my son in the mail.
